QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 12:26 PM) I hate that crap. I was just watching MLS a few days ago, the Fire were playing, and instead of it saying 'Fire' on their jerseys its said "Quakers". I was like..wtf? Wtf is Quakers? We're the Quakers now? Turns out Quaker Oats sponsors their jerseys. How lame is that? Its been that way in soccer all over the world for years, they dont seem to care now.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:44 PM) I'm surprised my 5 month old doesn't run around going crazy with storms. Not one issue. I guess it's just hit or miss? My rot as a puppy went with me to watch fireworks for the first 2-3 years and then developed the fear later on.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 06:26 PM) Let me put it this way. If I were Kenny, I would be trying to aquire struggling Marlins. Yup. I dont think Oz lasts 3 years there with the money they poured in and what they are getting out. So far all he's been known for is having a big mouth and underachieving players.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 04:55 PM) You should've been able to get the Sunday Ticket Maxx package free. I did after this Viacom ordeal. Plus $10 off a month for the next 2 years. I was going to say, threaten to leave, rinse repeat. I am about due to tell Comcast I am leaving and then poof, they "found" a coupon.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 11:47 PM) I really don't know AGAIN how you can watch this current video of Ozzie and not feel good about the man. Listen to his comments about Mark. I wish Sox fans would let bygones be bygones. You can hate his kids if you want if you hated their tweets, but Ozzie? Every tape I watch of the guy makes me laugh or happy he was our skipper. I guess we all agree to disagree. But again, critique this tape for me. I give it an A again for class/humor. http://www.chicagotribune.com/videogallery...tion-in-Chicago There are many managers/coaches that are good interviews but s***ty in games.

Yeah, their chicken is awesome, its well above average quality for fast food. However their bible thumping ways keeps them closed on sundays which is when I want it most.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:45 AM) You have to be careful eating Chinese food in China Town, too...growing up in the area...90% of those places should be condemned/shut down by the health department. There are some good Chinese places outside of China Town, too...but most Chinese food tends to be meh, IMO. I've been to many places...and I know bad chinese food...and I know good chinese food...but I've yet to find great chinese food, say, compared to having amazing sushi and just good sushi... Totally agree. In NYC I feel like you can walk by a dozen very good chinese food places regardless of location and here is very ugh. I have one or two places I order from in China town that are pretty legit.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:38 AM) No, no. She's very well travelled. It's because I haven't had Thai food in ages (my city in China just has one so-so Thai place) and my friend's father hasn't tried it before. She's been here for 3 months, and has been to Chicago many times, so she's used to "American food," whatever that means. And her daughter hates fast food places like KFC, which is odd for a Thai teenager. But you're right...she might not want it, she was never the type to cook, so I'm sure she is always eating out since she's been in Chicago. If I was to throw out a suggestion in the touristy/nice places in the downtown area I would say Purple Pig is up there. And its so funny that in chicago there is actually pretty good thai food, but our chinese food is essentially garbage outside of chinatown. I cant figure it out.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 10:57 AM) I wish we would become that third team and land bynum Nah, we apparently NEED to keep Deng and Noah around.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 09:35 AM) Those barefoot type shoes are more often than not bad for people who are used to wearing normal gym shoes who have probably formed poor/bad running habits over the years due to the increased cushion they've always used. The idea, when running, is to come down on the balls of your feet (toes first), which you can do with regular gym shoes, as it lessens the impact on your knees. The problem is if you've already formed bad habits (heel first impact), and switch to those barefoot shoes, odds are you'll still run with heel impact, only now you have no padding to cushion the blow to your knees. The idea behind them was to retrain you to run properly...but that doesn't work for a lot of people. That essentially what he said. I hadnt established the correct strength in my foot/lower leg area to use those shoes so when I switched over even for cross training I tightened my calves which tightened my hammys which then pulled on my IT band which helped cause my initial tear in my knee and then the subsequent wearing away of cartilage. Alot of it was flexibility (I could barely get mid shin on toe touches) but some of it was those shoes and me not being a good candidate for them.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 09:06 AM) which is why the Cubs always have such low odds to win the WS, even with this year's roster Yup, when I was in Vegas they were the 3rd most likely to win the WS based on the odds.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 12:12 AM) West Loop area, getting closer to the park: http://www.butterflysushi2go.com/ AH, so you are the one person who likes their thai food? I actually like a shack on Taylor called golden thai.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 08:30 PM) For example, what Rock is experiencing sounds like cartilage degeneration...that's genetic...and no amount of eating properly or exercising is going to do much about it. A friend of mine has chronic arthritis, and I mean severe heavily medicated level...he's only 34 years old. Eating broccoli and exercising did nothing for him...and does nothing for him. \ True on my knees, however I could have pushed back the onset of it according to my doctor by having much better flexibility and NOT using those barefoot-type shoes. I accelerated the issue by being extremely active and having basically no flexibility in my legs and hips.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 05:49 PM) here's the crazy thing. while yes, genetics are hard to avoid, just by eating right (and i mean ACTUALLY right, not what typical americans think of as "healthy") you can avoid all SORTS of diseases - even diseases you're genetically predisposed to. I'm talking antioxidants, pre and probiotics, vitamin K, fermented foods, organic veggies, free-range chicken, grass-fed beef, non-farmed fish, non-enriched flour, no processed foods etc etc. Why do you think people in aboriginal societies have such a LOW rate of cancer and other mega-diseases? Because they eat REAL FOOD. That's it. That's the difference. Yes you can't bring the risk to zero, but you can come pretty damn close. Yes, some. However you cant fight genetics to a degree which is why my knees got f***ed up, also one of my friends who actually runs a healthy eating company and literally changes peoples lives just came down with lung cancer, never smoked in her life. Crazy s***.

Official 2012-2013 NCAA Football Thread

QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 05:50 PM) D-II to mid-late round draft pick. Amazing how dumb some athletes could be. If this was a few years ago he misses a game or two but Miami isnt going to mess around right now with the NCAA still searching for something to grasp onto. You dont think this was a preemptive strike against those allegations? Al la Pryor going pro so the NCAA couldnt touch him? -
My boy Sullinger is having a pretty good summer so far, 14 and 8.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 04:02 PM) I love Tony Horton! I've started working later in the day because of a new job and I have started with my workouts at 6 AM...definitely changes up your day...I am definitely much more engaged at work, not tired, no more need for coffee, etc. Ha! Is that where I got that from? It's very true though, and I am trying to live by that as much as possible including really cutting down things in my diet as well as alcohol (the hardest part).

QUOTE (Boogua @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 03:43 PM) .... So the number of wins went like this. 54, then 44, then 32, and then 29. Yes, very strong core. Clearly on the upswing when Bird was brought in. Not sure where in my post I said that. I said admittedly most of the help was brought in year two, in the exact same post you just quoted. LBJ didnt have that kind of help by year 7.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 03:22 PM) I write a fitness blog called "No Excuses" Thats awesome. Some people need to understand how much better you feel and how much your life opens up if you try to take care of your body. Simple things around the house are easier with better flexibility and overall better core strength. If you take care of your body it should take care of you. You will also be quite a bit happier and more confident.

QUOTE (Boogua @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 02:50 PM) Bird was drafted to a team that won 29 games. I don't know what all time greats were already on his team when he was drafted. Archibald and Cowens were way past their prime and were both on that 29 win team the year before. 3 years removed from a title and 2 from a playoff run. Maxwell was a damn good player on top of the older core like Archibald and Cowens. Admittedly most of the major players to help bird were brought in starting in 1980 (his second year) which is a MUCH better situation than LBJ was in.

QUOTE (Boogua @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 02:37 PM) I don't think it was that clear last year, especially in the finals. It's just worked out that way. And LBJ is supposed to be the best player on the planet. People expected his career to play out like Bird, Magic, and Jordan's. None of those guys went to different teams. Dwight's career is somewhat playing out like Shaq's, except he looks worse right now. Shaq, despite having 4 rings and being the most dominant force in the NBA is usually lower on All time lists because of playing on so many teams IMO. Bird and Magic were lucky enough to be drafted by teams with all time greats on it already though, and they both added to it. LBJ could have waited for that to happen but clearly he was a little short changed compared to them. MJ however was drafted to dogs*** (somewhat) and pieces were added to him.

Left my dog to go hit balls on lunch, unfortunately it rained as I was eating lunch in bridgeport and I came home and my dog had opened the bathroom door, closed it, chewed a little (its already chewed a ton) and peed everywhere. Probably should have tested thundershirt.

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 07:03 PM) Especially this one, where Silvio's dragging her by the hair. Right before this, while they're driving into the woods, Silvio says "they're doing tests" on Christopher in the hospital - thought that was hilarious, considering it was supposedly a suicide attempt. Right, that was hilarious. The panic that set in on her face when she figured it out was awesome.

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 11:28 AM) 49ers are fav to win the Super Bowl http://instagram.com/p/NGzIzTPFBb/ The Cubs were one of the favorites to win the WS this year.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 11:30 AM) Any idea if a Thundershirt helps separation anxiety? My dog barks incessantly whenever we leave him by himself. We come back to a dog with laryngitis. Mine opens and then locks herself in the bathroom when we leave. We've watched it on webcam. Im testing that out today. Last night I tested turning on the stove and cooking (she usually shakes like crazy) and it seemed to work a little bit.
