QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ May 15, 2012 -> 03:23 PM) We all saw Kaner at the championship rally two years ago with our own eyes and ears. Sure, he was young and had just won the Stanley Cup, but can anyone recall any of the Bulls publically acting like that during their championship celebrations? Any of the 2005 White Sox? Even if you excuse that very public, sorry-ass embarrassment as just excessive celebration, its now become the third in a series of well-publicized incidents that includes the Buffalo cab, the Vancouver limo, and this Madison crap. That pretty much seems like a pattern to me. I hope that these incidents and his apparent failure to live up to his potential are just coincidental. They certainly could be, but I don’t think they are. Jordan has done much worse than have one legal incident and what you listed as 2 parties. Jordan was out gambling all night before playoff games. But he's Michael Jordan, so its all good.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 15, 2012 -> 03:09 PM) Funny that this post wasn't good enough, then. Good enough for what? I have no issue with people thinking that athletes should get drunk in public or at least dont get your picture taken. When ridiculous claims are brought in like addiction, alcoholism, not practicing his craft, thats when things are a bit ridiculous IMO. Thats ignoring facts for fiction which seems to happen quite a bit when speaking about several athletes particularly Kane. If Jake Peavy wasnt dealing this year I'm sure the thread with him drinking would be the "cause" of his struggles and he would now have a serious drinking problem. You know what, i had to edit this as I dont want to bring in the personal attacks that have been made, but its clear some of your posts have been more that than substance.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ May 15, 2012 -> 02:39 PM) The problem is you aren't Patrick Kane. Patrick Kane is the one of the most visible faces of a multi million dollar franchise, and represents himself and the organization he plays for. He is getting paid millions of dollars a year to perform at the highest level, and is one of the faces of the NHL. Having all that comes at a cost. Sorry Kane can't party like he would like to, but that is the price signing a 50 million dollar contract comes with. I can agree with this perspective and I think that it's great that you posted this because it shows an actual stance on what he did instead of what was rumored and probably isnt true. He probably shouldnt be getting blacked out, but especially shouldnt be in an area where he can be photographed in that state. With that said I have a few pro athlete acquaintances and I can see how they once in awhile want to step out of that box and let loose. The problem with Kane is that when he does it people take it alot further than when someone else does like Jake Peavy. That thread is about one page of people making fun of the girls he's hitting on.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 15, 2012 -> 02:39 PM) Why resort to lumping a one-word baseless post with personal attacks? That's quite a leap. Patrick Kane drunk party posts - 250 Steven Stamkos drunk party posts - 0 I obviously wasnt resorting to your posts towards me. ANd not sure what your fake stats are showing there. Kane gets photographed drunk and others dont?

FYI, I dont think it benefits anyone to attack each other's lives or history, if you stay on topic with a relevant argument it would make the discussion much more fruitful.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 15, 2012 -> 02:30 PM) Kane himself said it was time to grow up, as he represents the Blackhawks. So is it your opinion that what he really did wrong was getting drunk in public, or getting photographed doing that, or both?

QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 15, 2012 -> 01:03 PM) Speaking of workout advice, does anyone know of any good and easy to perform calf stretching stretches? My left calf is a lot tighter than my right, and it's kind of always been that way, wondering if anyone knew a safe way to stretch that out aside from the usual lean forward against a wall stretch... :/ You need to stretch the entire leg from the top down, and that will help with the calf. If you have a dog leash that may work, I would also recommend rolling the calf if your gym has rollers or invest in one as they are cheap and good for your entire body after a workout.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 15, 2012 -> 02:24 PM) Reality. Such as one day of partying, WOW what an increase in partying!!!!! Why resort to one word baseless posts and personal attacks? I dont get it.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2012 -> 02:22 PM) I DO suppose you could find where I ever said that? Or that there is a massive difference between "getting drunk" and "Patrick Kane"? It would be like equating getting high once in a while with an old fashioned Josh Hamilton binge night. So what is the difference? Athletes shouldn't get blacked out and photographed? Is that basically your stance here? And Josh Hamilton was a habitual drug user who was addicted and had to go to rehab, do you think Patrick Kane is a habitual alcohol user that has a chemical and mental dependency on the drug? Is that your view?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2012 -> 02:14 PM) And vice versa for those who will defend his drunken frat boys ways. AH yes, nothing like trying to take a shot at a whole population of fraternity members. Painting with a broad brush are we? By that statement I supposed you DO agree that athletes shouldnt get drunk? Or at least dont get wasted and photographed?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 15, 2012 -> 02:00 PM) The kid has done nothing but get worse the last 3 seasons. Meanwhile, his partying ways have increased. Based on what exactly?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2012 -> 01:18 PM) Change the subject all you like, but it is telling that after multiple instances of this same variety, no one will publicly defend Patrick Kane, even as media just savages him. How is that changing the subject? We have photos of him getting drunk, you have a problem with that and cannot understand why the Hawks havent come out and said, Kane got drunk, we support him. So if you have an issue with his actions you clearly have an issue with something related to Athletes getting drunk. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 15, 2012 -> 01:22 PM) Nobody has a problem with partying and having a good time, but come on man, we've got several years now indicating that Kane *might* have a drinking problem in that he drinks too much and he sucks at doing it on top of that. A drinking problem? We have what, 5 occasions where the kid has been photographed drinking or drunk, 5 cases over several years is a drinking problem now? He didnt do anything illegal, wasnt charged with a DUI, assault, trespassing, discharging a firearm, or anything of the kind yet you condemn him? Athletes are people just like you and me and if they want to go out and act like a normal kid their age so be it, so many of these guys are stressed by not being able to act a fool once in awhile within the law, more power to the guys who will. Unfortunately Kane is one that has been placed in a category due to his actions a few years ago so now any time he gets drunk people make it into a bigger story than it is.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2012 -> 01:04 PM) It is much better to let one of your franchise players twist in the winds of the media, versus putting out a one lined denial? I don't buy that for a second. I think the grasping at straws here is trying to act like nothing happened, in what is becoming a pattern of drunken stupidity. All you know is he went out drinking, are you against athletes getting drunk?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2012 -> 12:51 PM) It is better to let the local and national media smash the guy, again, and not defend one of your stars. This isn't CSI Wisconsin? He isn't on trial in a court of law. He is on trial in every media outlet across the country. Eyewitness testimony counts in the court of public opinion. Even in the limo incident the Hawks and Kane talked about it. Now no one is saying a word. Yes, because there were pictures/testimonies of those items happening (limo). Right now you have a blog website with anonymous statements with zero evidence pictures or otherwise. The Blackhawks arent going to issue a statement to bring more attention to something if it didnt actually happen, which by the day looks like the case. This story unless substantiated by actual witness statements or photo evidence will go away like other "rumored" stories on blogs. It seems to me like you are grasping at straws to make something true that right now looks like a total lie/rumor/telephone game sent in by equally drunk college kids who "heard" something from someone who was there.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2012 -> 12:43 PM) So no one standing up for Kane is a good thing? Standing up against what? You clearly ignored my actual point. There is no EVIDENCE that the kid did anything wrong other than going to a bar and party where there are picture of him drunk. What do the blackhawks have to refute?
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2012 -> 12:41 PM) You don't think it is telling that NO ONE has denied it? Not Kane, not a lawyer, not a PR rep, not an agent, and most importantly not his employer? WHy deny a bogus report on a website citing anonymous sources? That legitimizes said rumors and website. As a PR person I wouldn't issue a denial or statement without actual evidence which a this point looks like there isnt any. Its more telling that NOBODY out of the hundreds at this party have any evidence of these actions. Every kid at Madison has a camera phone.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 15, 2012 -> 12:29 PM) We do have evidence of douchebaggery from the cab incident. No, we have an alleged incident and the cab drivers lawyer saying it was overblown http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=4389932

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 15, 2012 -> 12:23 PM) Oh it's typically fly somewhere and then drive up to 4 hours! I travel around to various nuclear plants so, aside from some exceptions, they're usually far away from any mid-sized or larger airport. Those travel days kill routines, too. Oh yeah, you are f***ed there. The only thing you can do is try and eat healthy on the road which as we know is next to impossible when you are at applebees or bob evans or whatever s*** hole place they have out there.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 15, 2012 -> 07:17 AM) There's something different between getting black out drunk and getting black out drunk and choking a woman and harassing police officers. 23 =/= 21 - there's a time when responsibility matters. Once again, where is this evidence? First, this guy wasnt even in the fraternity that had the party, I can tell by his language and reference to a "frat." Second, if he wasnt in said fraternity, how would he know Kane (a guy who lives hours away from madison) is "dating" the presidents gf? How does he even know who the president of the fraternity is? Those houses are HUGE in madison, unless the guy was very close to everyone in the house he didnt know who this person is. Most likely the kid had NOTHING to do with booting anyone from a party he wasnt a host of, so how did he know the exact reasoning, especially when he was most likely about as blacked out as everyone else there? Its a horrible game of telephone where everyone is reporting "facts" yet there is no actual sober police report, no pictures, no video, nothing that supports these claims. Is it really that hard to pick up your iphone and take a picture or video of someone like Kane doing these things?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 15, 2012 -> 12:17 PM) I'm typically out in the middle of nowhere, but they usually have a treadmill and some dumb bells. But by the time I get back from working at a site all day and eat dinner, it's probably 8PM or later and I've got to get up at 5AM. Yeah, I've done that, impossible to work out and also to eat healthy. Thats a very hard life on your health mentally and physically. Do you fly or drive? My old boss used to take his bike with him to sites and ride early or late, it was crazy but kind of smart.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 15, 2012 -> 12:09 PM) I'm terrible about exercising on the road. I always tell myself I'm going to run for a while, but it rarely happens. Its incredibly hard. Like I said before I try to stay in hotels where I know the gym is legit and I usually go to the same major cities so its easy to pop into a grand hyatt in denver which has a huge weight room. The whole running thing doesnt work for me since I still cant run with my knees especially after my training this winter.

QUOTE (Brian @ May 15, 2012 -> 12:04 PM) I knew it was down to USC and Michigan with Trojans front running. USC has the chance to be extremely good this year, it makes sense to go there if you are a RB. Who even knows what Borges's offense will look like when Denard leaves. For me, I thought Issac was overrated and still do. -
QUOTE (iamshack @ May 15, 2012 -> 11:46 AM) Beachbody admits that 3 times a week for an hour a day is enough to keep you in pretty tremendous shape. I dont have children so obviously I dont have the same issues at Y2, but I travel alot so I have been trying to take an hour's worth of TV out every day for to increase exercise. Its been extremely helpful. Now only if I could find out the secret to doing it in the morning.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 15, 2012 -> 08:30 AM) The biggest thing it did for me was giving me a structure to build off of. Even thought I don't follow the tapes very often anymore, I do follow the program's template and use a lot of the moves. This is what I do. My gym does group conditioning which i do about 4 days a week and then I go a weight training day and a flexibility/knee rehab day. My resistance days are closely associated with the P90X weight training routines slightly modified.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 15, 2012 -> 08:23 AM) That's where you are wrong. 1 hour every day IS a lot to ask. I work out 3-4 days a week, that's it.. So how long do you work out on those 3-4 days then? 4 days a week with a P90X type workout is going to be very beneficial to people even with some more resistance built in. Flexibility and stamina is always good to inject into your routine.
