  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 10, 2012 -> 04:19 PM) Yup, teams coming off of Cups should worry about stocking the farm and not an extended run with proven NHL stars that dominated to the 2010 Stanley Cup. Again. Clueless. Again, give me some examples smart guy. Which guys could they have made an extended run with under the cap? Please paint us your pretty picture.
  2. So kaner's college-type antics were being recited by college kids who were all blacked out? Sounds legit.
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 10, 2012 -> 01:47 PM) Wow, you're clueless. How about having just one addition contribute in a meaningful way? There's not a single post-Tallon player who contributes here. Wow thats informative. Thanks for your contribution. Heres some actual information: As far as players that will contribute, Stan's biggest push has been towards building a farm system for this team, his draft picks have been pretty damn good. In the 2011 draft alone he took 2 players that CONTRIBUTED for the blackhawks this season in Saad and Andrew Shaw. AS far as team contributions over the years that he has brought in via trade after being forced to unload half the roster after the cup, you have Leddy, Boynton, Stalberg, Morin, Hayes, Frolik, Campoli (for a short time), Oduya. His free agent signings havent been world beaters, but he accumulated draft picks to fill in the spots around the core he resigned after the cup while still staying competitive within the conference and the division. Once again, who is doing a better job at this at the moment, especially after having to dump half their team after WINNING a cup? I fully expect the extra few picks per year they've been taking since he took over to pay off in the next few years while the core is still signed to the roster. I think its pretty hilarious we are faulting mgmt for forcing us to watch a playoff contender while they continue to rebuild from within.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 10, 2012 -> 11:54 AM) A shot at what? Miraculously sneaking into the playoffs and getting swept in the first round? This is the year we can finally start to rebuild our awful minor league system by trading away the likes of Peavy, Thornton, Konerko and whoever else has value. Whoa, you cant make predictions about getting swept in the playoffs, thats just moronic. Making it is all that counts these days as its been proven that its anyone's game.
  5. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 10, 2012 -> 11:07 AM) OK, would you like him to phrase it differently? How about not have them go straight backwards? A lot of his moves have been brutal. Backwards meaning what? They were one of the most cap strapped teams in recent memory and lost almost everything. They have a pretty rich farm system and a pretty good core in place to contend every year. Not sure how that is straight backwards, to me that means last place with a horrible outlook moving forward which is simply not the case with the Hawks. In the last 10 years, which cup champion other than Det (clearly) has managed to stay on top and not go backwards? Also which ones have done a better job at staying competitive? Out of the last 10 cup champs I believe only NJ is still alive this year. the Hawks have been "good" for about 5 years: 2008: 88 points (missed playoffs) 2009: 104 points (Bowman gets job)(4 seed) 2010: 112 points (cup champs)(2nd seed) 2011: 97 points (8 seed) 2012: 101 points (6 seed) And this is management that we want fired because they are inept?
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 9, 2012 -> 10:06 AM) Stan Bowman really, really has to go. He has yet to make a move that actually improved things. Improved things from a stanley cup winner? How exactly do you do that?
  7. Write back to him and then send deadspin the email he sends back to you, they are publishing them on their website.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 9, 2012 -> 03:51 PM) Absolutely...there is a difference between reputable breeder and what are termed "backyard" breeders...backyard breeders are typically people who breed their b****es as many times as is biologically possible to create the largest number of saleable pups...they don't understand what they are doing and this is purely a financial ploy as opposed to trying to produce quality dogs and improve the breed overall. Theres a difference between ones that make money and ones that make friends/family for life. Best way someone put it to me back in the day when i was looking at puppies. You are almost extended family to good breeders, others you are a paying customer.
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 9, 2012 -> 04:27 PM) The article says he is sitting out 2012-13, and hopes to sign with a team after that. Right, 2 years from now. Will be only in mid 20's.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 9, 2012 -> 01:06 PM) Titus interviews Greg Oden. It is very good read. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/790876...-plagued-career Pretty well written and ties in well with some of the mentions in Titus's book.
  11. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 9, 2012 -> 02:08 PM) Sox brass does not know what the hell they want to do with Sale start, relieve, rest, MRI. Cortisone, pitch, pitch, tear, tommy john, fixed. IMO.
  12. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 9, 2012 -> 01:03 PM) We tried to adopt from a shelter, but the "selection" was very limited. A LOT of big dogs, not a lot of the type were were looking for, if any. That made it difficult even though intentions were there to adopt. Yeah you've got to look a bit wider, both of mine were puppies from a shelter, my rot was actually within days of being euthanized. www.dogsindanger.com is a very sad website to browse but they have a good selection. I wasnt saying you werent looking hard enough, im saying that local shelters for whatever reason dont get alot of puppies which is a shame, because thats what people want.
  13. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 8, 2012 -> 04:49 PM) My best friend just bought a cock-a-poo puppy. Named it Upton (he is a big Dbacks fan, but probably loves Kate Upton too). He paid $850 for the thing. Jesus. I can't imagine ever paying that much for a dog, or at least not while I am a college kid. Paying that much money for a dog when there are thousands waiting to be adopted at a shelter is beyond me. Rescue a dog, they usually turn out to live longer with less issues anyway. I have 2 rescues, and they are both great dogs and I know I saved them from a certain death sentence.
  14. Since we are talking about fantasy trades, I would rather have Josh Hamilton
  15. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 9, 2012 -> 12:32 PM) Why is that yuck? Good luck finding a guy that wants to play a half or 3/4 of a season and then be stuck on the bench 40-42 minutes a game. Kirk would probably welcome the move back for the mid level exception. And he's not terrible, he can run the offense and play some defense. He's certainly no worse than Watson and probably better since Watson can't shoot or keep the ball in bounds these days. The draft is a perfect place to find such a player.
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 9, 2012 -> 12:22 PM) He was quoted this morning saying he is playing, he knows his body and will be ready to play. I havent heard anything about a suspension He literally said he can rest when the season is over, love that kid.
  17. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ May 9, 2012 -> 12:23 PM) Hell, the Sox could send another player and it'd still be good. I'd type my celebration post with my giant boner if that happened, but it wont.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 9, 2012 -> 12:21 PM) Beat me to it. YoukilisTalk.com begins. LOL, zero percent chance, even less than the peak of chaveztalk.com
  19. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ May 9, 2012 -> 12:18 PM) It would still be a good trade for the White Sox, in my opinion. No kidding, it would be down right rapeage, which is only one reason its fantasy.
  20. Only a Chicago writer would think that is a fair trade.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 9, 2012 -> 11:24 AM) Lucas is a 5'10" 2 guard. That isn't good when you have a decent defender opposite him. He's got to be shorter than that too. Turner and Holliday were just destroying him defensively at times.
  22. I love PTATC Secondly, if it is his UCL, let him f***ing tear it while he's in his early 20's to get it out of the way now IMO. Maybe thats the wrong way to think but if you want the kid to have a career, shielding him from a predictable starter's load doesnt seem smart to me. The kid is an excellent starting pitcher as well, very valuable.
  23. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 9, 2012 -> 11:14 AM) I actually was wondering if the Bulls would just try and play without a PG. Rip is fine at the top of 3 point arc with the ball, he usually makes good decisions. As for Taylor/CJ, yeah ideally you would want one of them to be a larger combo guard who could play the 1 and 2, which would give the Bulls more flexibility. Taylor can shoot the 3 and run a good pick and roll, something that is a staple of our offense. If only we have a 5 that could drop the 3 ball from the top and they would be very dangerous on that pick and pop. I was thinking that possibly a Rip/Deng/Brewer/Boozer/Taj lineup could have worked if they ran a press-break to bring the ball up the floor.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 9, 2012 -> 10:45 AM) Unless Lucas is on one of his insane shooting streaks, he isn't a very good point guard. He is terrible defensively, and doesn't move the ball at all. If he isn't hot, he hurts the team. Easily trapped and doesnt ball handle well. I actually thought at one point it made more sense to put in Rip and have him and Deng both bring the ball up in a press break scenario. James wouldnt be a bad play since he's a bit bigger. I fully support Badge's Taylor idea in theory, but I also dont want to waste a pick if they are dead set on keeping CJ on board. I like Taylor as a scorer in that backup PG position.
