Official 2012-2013 NCAA Football Thread

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 07:45 AM) Ty Issac from Joliet Catholic is considering Michigan. Holy crap. Kid is a beast. Doesn't belong in high school football. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 10:25 AM) Welcome to 2 months ago. He's also considering USC hard. Ahem, committed to USC today. -
Arguing poster semantics is dumb, how about the topic at hand? 3-4 defense would have been great since we just drafted a pass rushing LB.
-
Philly's defense is not to be ignored. They are pulling 70 point games over and over in the playoffs, thats pretty impressive even with Rose out.

QUOTE (Jake @ May 14, 2012 -> 07:21 PM) That's what it looks like. Your 90mph, dead straight fastball is not a good pitch. It is worse when you never throw any other pitches. It's even worse when the count is 2-0, 3-1 when you throw that fastball. FYI, his fastball looks straight on TV because of the camera angle, it actually moves a bit away from RH hitters if you are there in person. Still very hittable when the zone is small and nothing else is working.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ May 14, 2012 -> 05:33 PM) Looks like Chris Williams will be moving back to LT (as i expected) http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,7870245.story I'd rather have Carimi over there actually but whatever. See if he can do what we thought he could do years ago.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 14, 2012 -> 03:45 PM) It sounds like "my tummy hurts". But I totally agree with you, much like your back when you strain an abdominal muscle it f***ing hurts Anything in the core is extremely limiting to your overall movement. I've hurt my back and you cant even wipe your ass or get out of the car for weeks when I was waterskiing full time.

QUOTE (Reddy @ May 14, 2012 -> 03:37 PM) if you wanna BULK up, maybe not. If you want to be more athletic, and perform better in all areas of fitness, P90X is better than a typical weight-centric routine. I'd rather be doing yoga when I'm 80 than lookin' like the hulk right now. I much prefer the cross-fit type fitness model than the worlds strongest man one myself. PLus my knees need less weight on them not more.

TIME's Top 10 Worst US Sporting Venues

QUOTE (Tex @ May 14, 2012 -> 03:28 PM) At least the targeted the worst part of the stadium. And perhaps it is fair to not allow the great lower section to offset. So perhaps the Cell could be on two lists, the top 10 lower sections and the bottom ten upper sections. I will say after sitting in the first row of the UD for a game by the 3rd inning I was enjoying the seat. But I understand those that complain the UD is too steep. They somewhat misconstrued the statement that you cannot go to other "sections" you can walk the entire top concourse which has more than enough amenities. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 14, 2012 -> 02:04 PM) I totally agree...but that would have required the Bears giving up "Being at Soldier Field", which they weren't willing to do (and which, seemingly, we both agree was a mistake). AS much as I respect and love the old soldier field, they should have leveled it and built an entirely new state of the art stadium with a retractable roof and seating for at least 100k. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 14, 2012 -> 03:13 PM) From what I can remember (it's been several months), I'd burn around 700-800 calories during Plyometrics, at least according to my HRM. Yeah, sounds about right to me. I burn a little more than that on some days. Insanity is much more cardio than P90 if someone is into that.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 14, 2012 -> 03:16 PM) I think most of us are going to work remote on Monday. I will at the end of the week too if the situation dictates. I know CNA gave some of their folks 2 extra vacay days to stay away, I would have been f***ing elated for something like that if I was them.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 14, 2012 -> 02:18 PM) The lockdown is already starting. Just getting into the Sears Tower is now official a hassle. I have alot of customers in the loop, CNA, BCBS, Harris, etc and most of them are required to stay home this week. Pretty smart idea.
-
QUOTE (Jake @ May 14, 2012 -> 02:36 PM) I'd imagine a P90x burns off a whole twinkie or so. A P90X or circuit type workout for me burns over 700 calories, at the gym I do similar stuff and i easily top 1000.

Wow, I bet the odds of me getting into Cameron wouldnt be good. That may be my only chance to go there. -
QUOTE (knightni @ May 14, 2012 -> 01:03 PM) I found it disconcerting that they had the blurry people 3D-ed in front sometimes in the shot and everything got all blurry overall when they'd be in CGI fight scenes. CGI was weird, but the normal scene were pretty damn good. Obviously has a little ways to go for 3D to be perfect, but it really sucks you in when things are basically in front of you. Also the people next to me were eating a full meal and that was realyl weird. You are supposed to just get stoned and house a bag of popcorn I thought?

Avengers in 3D in the VIP seats was awesome. Just plain action.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ May 14, 2012 -> 11:51 AM) That's why I started reading them. Fark waiting. Bran and Rickon Yeah they books are great and more graphic than the show.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 14, 2012 -> 09:45 AM) It was physically impossible to put in enough seats, put in enough luxury boxes, maintain the old stadium facade, and make sure the seats had good sight lines. Simply couldn't do all of them. Maybe true, but they definitely lost a chance to gain more revenue there. They obviously preferred luxury boxes instead of seats, but the Bears could easily draw 120k every sunday. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 14, 2012 -> 06:58 AM) Soldier Field? There isn't a bad seat in the house. I went to the Superdome last September when the Bears were there, I was surprised by how nice it was. The renovations forced to be done by Katrina actually got the place up to date and modern. The inside of solidier field is pretty damn nice except for the lack of bathrooms. Their major error was putting so few seats in the stands. -

QUOTE (The Critic @ May 13, 2012 -> 07:09 PM) When I played, the shift did seem to work on most lefties, though. Not a lot of LH hitters could, or would, go the other way. I always did, because pitchers would take the jump-step to my right and then float the ball away from me (which was stupid when their guys were shifting me to right), so it made sense to drop my back shoulder a bit and drive the ball to left. Yeah we shift lefties all the time and almost none of them can point it to me even in LC. I really wish I played on a field with fences, that would be awesome. -
QUOTE (Brian @ May 11, 2012 -> 03:52 PM) NBC renewed WHITNEY. Easily one of the worst sitcoms I have ever watched. Has to be one of the worst on TV, hilarious how they pick the shows to stay with.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 12, 2012 -> 02:24 PM) Yea the big boys tend to ruin those leagues. The only thing that is worse than a no homerun limit league, is a no fence league. Yeah, thats pretty much what we have in the city though unfortunately. -

QUOTE (Brian @ May 12, 2012 -> 01:34 PM) You sound like me. I think I am rather strong but I swing as hard as I can and I can never clear the fence. Line drives is my thing as well. Whenever I really try to juice it I pop it up so I give it a solid swing for good contact and its a rope but never that deep drive. There has to be some trick that those super fat guys do to crush the ball. -

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ May 12, 2012 -> 01:05 PM) Yeah they always made us show our ticket but didn't stop us in the past. If its a season ticket holder ticket you can generally go downstairs.
