  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 30, 2012 -> 09:16 AM) I called for his firing this season. Rock is the ever optimist, so I would imagine that was him. LOL, if posting actual facts about the team's performance with no rebuttal from anyone is being "on his nuts" then yes it was me. Not alot of team fire a GM who wins a cup in his first season and then sees his team make the playoffs every year after that. I also pointed out how the Hawks are right within the norm performance-wise of the last ten teams seasons after they won the cup.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 29, 2012 -> 11:46 AM) Despite his s***ty series vs Phoenix, I'm very glad Oduya is back. Although that probably eats up most of the remaining cap space, his old contract was for $3.5 million He's probably better than what was available on the market for that cap hit unfortunately.
  3. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 17, 2012 -> 10:59 AM) As someone who played HS golf, this. in HS golf you have blatant cheating, scores that are 10 shots better than they were.
  4. QUOTE (Brian @ May 29, 2012 -> 12:01 PM) A friend on Facebook already pulling the attendance card out. Sad. point him to stubhub where their loyal fans are unloading tickets by the thousands
  5. I wish people would stop trying to rationalize Rios's results. He's an every other year player, it very obvious. He'll be s*** next year and will be tinkering the entire season.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 29, 2012 -> 11:09 AM) Hmmm, One penny for a Jeff SAMARJ bobble head. Too bad I have to work, that'd be an easy $50 on ebay. LOL, I was thinking the same thing.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 28, 2012 -> 07:17 AM) The Cubs are where a lot of people on Soxtalk think the Sox should be. Battle for the #1 pick. One big difference, 30k still show up when the Cubs are horrid. If the Sox ever get this bad, they will be lucky if 10k are actually at the park. They have that many tickets "sold" but there are 3k on stubhub and thousands on the streets. Brokers picked up every ticket in the offseason and now there is no where to unload them. Stubhub today has tickets priced from $2 Edit: Down to a penny a ticket
  8. They skipped ALOT in GOT, I cant believe they didnt show the chain across the river, and also I expected the wound to Tyrion to look alot worse, at least it did in my head.
  9. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 25, 2012 -> 11:59 AM) One of the reasons I live in the city is so that there is absolutely no temptation to ever drink and drive. I go out by L and come home by cab. $40 a week in cab/transportation for nights out = $200 a year or $20,000 for 100 years. Seems like a bargain to me when you consider how much money youd have to pay for 1 DUI (counting fees, fines, insurance premium increase, loss of reputation). One of the dumbest things you can do. I feel bad for folks that dont have this option. Cabs have saved me many times even when I drove somewhere. Its just not worth it to drive.
  10. QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 25, 2012 -> 11:08 AM) No, I never do these things. I don't cross share app information, ever. As a matter of fact, every time I use Faceook, I log off when I'm done. I don't like them seeing what sites I browse next, etc. Most people, I realize, don't care...but most people are suckers...and that's why they're hacked/compromised and have no idea. Me either, but thats because I architect this stuff. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 25, 2012 -> 11:11 AM) I guess I don't see how that creates $ for a business at the end of the day. Companies pay $$ for identity stores internally AD, Oracle, CA etc. To offload that to something in the "cloud" for their employees and most especially consumers saves much dinero. To be that identity provider for these companies we are talking about means alot of subscription revenue for that store. I sell facebook/linkedin/yahoo/google connectors to alot of companies to offload their identities (the golden arches did this with monopoly) and the business value is immense, if there was ONE of those, that company could charge out the ass for the service, and companies would pay it.
  11. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 25, 2012 -> 10:59 AM) But does that actually work? Does anyone remember "keywords?" How's that fairing for AOL these days? The technology wasnt there back then. Trust me, a universal identity store is a total feasible future and facebook etc are racing to be that store. Its incredibly valuable.
  12. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 25, 2012 -> 10:49 AM) Facebook is so vastly overrated. It's useful to share pictures and news about yourself, but who honestly goes onto facebook to view a product or business? I mean, I hate facebook and the entire idea behind it ("Look at me! Look! Look! Over here!") so perhaps i'm a little biased in thinking this way. As an end user thats true, there is a much bigger story to having a universal identity store out on the internet that other companies can leverage. It's a HUGE value push for these companies to own the identities on the internet so that large organizations can link into them.
  13. QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 25, 2012 -> 10:37 AM) ...and to be sure, I'm not saying Facebook isn't a good company...it's profitable, it has a sustainable business...but it's overvalued by a large amount...as most modern tech IPO's are. Mostly because investors are trying to not "miss the next big thing"...which is what created the first .com bubble in the first place...it's just funny watching them make the same mistakes again. Facebook and LinkedIn are decent companies, they make money...and have a product people use. The issue isn't that...the issue is that to justify their current valuations, Facebook needs to make about 50 times more money than it is (and that's a lot, since it means they'd be making more than Apple...which isn't happening), and LinkedIn...well...they need to make about 500 times more. You want to know what facebook's main purpose is to other business right? They OWN global identities across the board. Have you ever approved a fb app or signed into a site using your FB OAuth credentials? FB owns a large portion of the worlds (US especially) personal information. The advertising is somewhat secondary moving forward IMO.
  14. Google's core business has changed so much since then its almost not the same company.
  15. Some of those bombs were kilt, but none like Morneau's, wow. De Aza said you will NOT take away my HR b****es.
  16. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 25, 2012 -> 08:28 AM) It's so easy to get greedy in slow pitch softball. Totally, I'm not really a power hitter as I get doubles on singles because of speed so I think I have been trying to get a little more power in my game and swung out of my shoes.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ May 24, 2012 -> 08:19 PM) That is what's do the first two games of the season usually. Than I open stance and just try and make solid contact. It was our 6th game and I've been hitting over .600, no idea how I started to do it and it pisses me off. I need to go back to trying to kill the pitcher.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2012 -> 03:50 PM) Ok, here's my suggestion. Let's say the Celtics finish off the 6ers in game 7...now hear me out... Can we loan them Thibs for the next series? I seriously wouldn't be mad. I think they are just too old at this point. Nobody in the east can take the Heat right now, but I think both OKC and SA have a real good chance.
  19. The Sixers probably play the best defense in the league, because of that they are always in games just like the Bulls. Of course we have (had) D Rose which is the x factor.
  20. QUOTE (ptatc @ May 24, 2012 -> 02:37 PM) I realize that but like you said it's a good pitch but not something really special. I think Reed has shown he will be a good one with his mental makeup and and (so far) his ability to throw strikes. However, as far pure stuff goes he really isn't much different than a guy like Santiago. High 90's with a low 90's slider and a change? Thats plus stuff.
  21. pop out, pop out line out last game. I'm way out in front, not sure how I got that way.
  22. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 24, 2012 -> 01:38 PM) Reed has been groomed to be the closer of the future since he was drafted, absolutely dominated the minor leagues, was named best relief prospect in baseball by numerous publications and has very good stuff. Reed was the clear and easy choice from day 1 to be the closer and per usual this organization messed it up. Thankfully, for once we were actually quick to act on something instead of letting it play out for months only to cost the team more games. Did they really mess it up though? There is ALOT less attention and pressure on him this far into the season being named the closer and we are only a few games back. I dont mind it although I called this from the beginning.
  23. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 24, 2012 -> 12:44 PM) Do you have a kindle or nook? Or even a nook or kindle app for Android or iPad? If you do, I can hook you up. I could probably download that, I use paperbacks for now.
  24. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 24, 2012 -> 12:17 PM) Agreed, I knew it was coming and it was still a shock how it happened.
  25. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 24, 2012 -> 12:02 PM) I'm about 75% done with A Dance with Dragons and I completely agree. The next book is a bit slower but just work your way through it. aDwD makes up for it I need to find the next two from somewhere. I read Clash of Kings on vacation and storm of swords since sunday (almost done).
