  1. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 01:53 PM) Chicago property taxes have soared the last few years consecutive. In 2009, my property taxes were 1900$. They are now 3800$. That's a massive increase. Cost of living in Chicago is out of control. Our taxes on groceries are twice that of other areas, our gas is incredibly high and we pay out the ass on our property taxes. I dont even know how anyone could smoke in Chicago, there are 5 extra dollars alone in taxes.

  3. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 12:53 PM) I already witness this with the people I go up there to see...everyone used to be out in the water playing, etc...these days they're in the house playing No-Friend-O Wii. Most of this next generation is setting themselves up to be the most anti-social people of all time. As you probably know there is basically zero cell service up there especially with Verizon, and this is a freaking blessing. I LOVE not having service. But now, new cell tower going up, everyone has wireless internet and even my boat has Sirius radio. Its crazy.
  4. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 12:47 PM) Sure you can...but most people don't buy Apple computers specifically to do so. I have a Win7x64 partition on my iMac, I sometimes straight boot into that or use Parallels for games that don't work in OSX native, but most of what I play works in OSX. Ha, thats almost my set up. I also love the multiple monitors for gaming.
  5. Just the two victims that have spoken up so far is enough for a conviction, their stories are f***ing crazy and the defense is having a hard time disproving anything.
  6. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 12:49 PM) Which means the area will slowly begin to get boring over the years. Theres not a ton of retail or restaurants so I was hoping that would improve a bit, or start to grow a town. But the downside is the kids around there arent quite doing what we did which was band together, spend your days and nights outside and have some real summer friends. I see kids inside or sometimes out on the boat for a short period of time. There is something to be said about family bonding in a small cottage in the summer with no technology.
  7. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 12:42 PM) I'm still leary of a guy who cried on the bench purely because he and his team were getting molested by Nebraska He has come a long way physically though from the 225 lb. 7-footer he once was and I'm glad to read/hear from multiple draft sources that he is sure to go in the lottery. He also improved substantially between frosh-soph year in terms of managing his emotions in all facets, but still has great area to improve with that as well. He would be a nice fit on the bench as a backup big guy on a contending team while developing his NBA skills an demeanor, the Bulls especially. However he wont fall that far.
  8. Soriano is playing on one leg, if you dont believe me watch a game. I ran that way the last couple of years with a bad knee injury, he's basically worthless.
  9. You can play windows games on an Apple, its not that hard.
  10. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 12:30 PM) True Meyers Leonard was definitely perceived to be stronger through the chest and arms on the bench than every other big man at the combine If he bolsters his lower half a bit he could be a downright monster, one that I would think could be very good in the NBA. Athletic big men are a freakin enigma though.
  11. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 10:47 AM) Leonard's bench press reps in comparison to the likes of TRob, Drummond, & Sullinger are particularly interesting for someone previously considered to be extremely weak Not sure his arms where were people thought he was weak. I'm actually impressed with Sully's bodyfat percentage, I would have thought it was higher.
  12. QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 29, 2012 -> 08:37 AM) I believe RR is on Big Crooked. I go up to Little Crooked, have been for years. Good memory that is correct. Tons of southside folks up there, but now its changing and people are putting multimillion dollar houses in the place where tiny cottages were before.
  13. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 11:40 AM) No point in being the richest guy/gal in the graveyard... That said, it's also not fun not having money for emergency situations/emergency costs/repairs on cars/houses...I save a little...I keep myself in the black, but I also spend money and have fun. Cash is king, save what you can and portion the rest for fun. Self-budgeting is very underutilized these days. Its so easy and now there are free online applications that can help you do it.
  14. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 10:23 AM) The Wendy's 1 mile from my current work is looking for a dayshift manager and paying $29k a year. I didn't say you could make $30k flipping the burgers, I said do it for the experience and try to move up, you could be making $30k in 2 years, all while gaining experience AND making money. Instead of spending $25k a year for school and making no money. Some fields yes, you need that piece of paper. Even back in my college days, I had some computer classes I had to take at night where I was the only 'kid' in the class. Everyone else was from Bell Labs and knew this stuff easy, but they had to have that paper to prove it. My point wasnt you were lying, it was that 20-30k a year is VERY hard to live on and would be downright impossible to raise a family on. Even in that industry there is a glass ceiling how far you can advance without at least some sort of degree. Its better to go out and get the paper as soon as possible even if accumulating debt IMO.
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 10:10 AM) Most third party applications aren't even optimized to use the screen. So you're basically paying the premium to use Apple's currently optimized applications. Some people wont appreciate how great that Macbook pro is, and those people are more than happy with e-machines and acer laptops. its not for everyone. All of the nerds in my software company are enthralled with the new model, and for good reason. For me, my macbook air is about as good as it gets.
  16. You need that piece of paper to get a good job and to have room for advancement. The flipping burgers for 20-30k had to be a joke right? You cant live in a city off that wage, maybe with your parents or way out in the boonies somewhere. Its proven college degrees earn you upwards of a million more than a person without that piece of paper over your working lifetime. My only advice towards people (and I eat out and go out a lot) is that cash is king so save what you can but please leave a little bit extra for yourself out of that. You cant take it with you and you never know when you are going to kick the bucket. If you are pouring every dollar you have into that house you think will appreciate, dont dont it. And sign a prenup.
  17. I still LOVE Tiger Wood golf, it just never gets old for me.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 12:39 PM) I didn't think it was possible, but this post has increased my hatred for OSU. LOL. Thats the life not only in columbus but most of Ohio. If you rolled the Bears, bulls, hawks cubs and whitesox into one team that would be how much the people there love the Buckeyes. It's insane.
  19. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 09:39 AM) My wife and I have started to watch some Friends reruns. I gotta say, the show still makes me laugh. The writing is really, really good compared to a lot of today's crap. My gf and I will dominate anyone in the friends scene it trivia game. Also Seinfeld (but thats mostly her)
  20. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 09:53 AM) It's seriously pissing people off. It's not like the people who are pissed off that they won't get their Galaxy S IIIs or HTC One Xs on time will switch over to the iPhone. They get those phones because they like the big screens, not Apple's puny 3.5 inch screen. They'll just be pissed off at Apple even more. Apple is losing its stake in the phone market. It's been that way for like the past couple of years with Android becoming very mainstream and Windows Phones picking up some steam. They're just trying to compensate by suing over ambiguous things. Thing is, I don't think it's going to sway public opinion to go towards Apple, it just makes them look like bigger dicks. If they are already planning on getting a samsung phone then why does it hurt Apple to piss them off? Also android is an operating system not a type of phone. I believe the other actual phone manufacturers have a little catching up to do. Personally I think Apple is doing pretty well owning the market in both phones and tablets, "'owning" a particular space is I believe is having 30% market share.
  21. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 07:40 PM) Yeah, I know how SEC football fans are viewed by Northerners. I'm from Ohio originally and all my relatives live in the Midwest. But, I'm just saying you're obviously trying to take some sort of shot by using that terminology and implying that all SEC fans are hillbillies (and essentially, slow and stupid). Otherwise, you would have just said SEC "fans" in your earlier post. On a lighter note, I believe the term you're looking for is "Redneck." Hillbillies are reserved to hill country, which is essentially Eastern Kentucky and East Tennessee in SEC country. Rednecks are pretty much throughout the rest of the South. I'm not taking a shot at you dude, just the general impression of SEC fans that most of us have. s***, thats the impression half the Big Ten have about OSU fans. BUt really, we dont care as much about conference pride as the SEC does for better or for worse. In fact, its very hard for Big Ten football fans to root for each other even in bowl games.
  22. Depends how you look at it. Would these PSU people want to let him off or put the SOB in jail who got their beloved coach fired and disgraced their name?
  23. No decision made today. He's having trouble getting around and standing up and fell down a few times although when I showed up he was jumping around like a puppy again. We think the issue isnt the bladder its that he's kind of got dementia, where he forgets what hes doing and where he is, even snapping at my mom who he would never bite when she tried to put his leash on. He looks great physically, barely any gray hair, great coat, but I think mentally he's faltering and its clear he's in pain when he walks/stands. His joints are incredibly swollen.
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 10:50 AM) My lab had some bladder issues(infections, multiple back to back) and I started giving her cranberry supplement and it seriously cleared it up in 2 days and it never happened again. Of course if your Rott has bladder cancer then it won't work, but if he has stinky pee and can't hold it very often and is drinking a lot of water, you may want to give it a try. Its possible. The thing is that he's 11 and is having issues walking and is getting agressive and it seems like putting him through more stuff to prolong his life may just be selfish of us. Trying to make a decision today, we'll see. It's sad but 11 years for a rotty/shep mix is a pretty good run.
  25. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 10:20 AM) What are the bladder issues? Science Diet makes a range of foods that can solve things. My oldest cat, Gary, who is now 7, was close to being put down at the age of 2, or else need an expensive surgery. We saw a different vet who prescribed Science Diet's c/d feline bladder health, and the cat bounced right back and is in amazing health to this day. I see they have a version for dogs, http://www.hillspet.com/products/pd-canine...health-dry.html I have no idea if it will help, but whenever I hear about bladder problems in animals, I think of the situation that made me a much happier person. He's on meds for a UTI they thought he had but now he is showing signs of almost not being himself, being agressive and not wanting to even be near anyone. I think its just age catching up in a breed that rarely lives this long anyway.
