  1. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 10:28 AM) It didn't, but it did surprise me that the SEC had almost double the number of 5* recruits than the next best conference and almost 3x as many as the Big Ten. The number differential of Top 100 players was huge too, but I couldn't be accurate because somehow Scout's 2011 rankings added to 172 top 100 players among the conferences. The other years were 99 or 100 with one exception of 103 in 2009. So I couldn't be sure how many Top 100 players each conference had. But with the exception of 2008, the SEC had between 30-35% of the Top 100. The rest spread out between the other conferences. Another random note the Big East had 16 5* recruits, but 9 of those were in 2007 & 2008, illustrating even more how far they've fallen. Some of that ranking stuff is also skewed by the ranking services themselves. The SEC has been doing work lately and I think everyone knows that but historically the Big Ten has actually produced more first round draft picks. It will be interesting to see how the conference realignment etc affects this moving forward and we'll see if the talent distribution is really cyclical like it has been or if the SEC with its sheer size continues to dominate.
  2. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 07:39 PM) How do you explain NY getting it then? How about Indy or Detroit? Indy has some stuff around their stadium, Detroit has about one place to eat and one bar, and the rest is crime.
  3. Ironic that this thread has gotten hot right when things have gone bad for many dogs around here. My gf's parents just put theirs down because of agressive cancer, my aunt had to put theirs down because of cancer and now my 11 year old rotty that I've had since college is having some bladder issues and the doc doesnt think there is much they can do. My dog has had a very long and good life compared to what it could of been when I rescued him from certain death when he was 3 weeks old but its still sad just thinking back on all the memories I've had with him.
  4. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 09:58 PM) "SEC hillbillies?" That's mature, Rock. Huh? How is that immature? I am saying that's how SEC football fans are viewed primarily, and nobody on any message boards I frequent has given a crap about what SEC fans think about Delany. Our priority is to win a conference title and run the table, if that happens the odds are good a Big Ten team gets into the championship game. About then is when the SEC will actually matter as a conference, and the fans chanting for their conference never matters. And Rex, obviously I was exaggerating, but thanks for the research.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 06:06 PM) Now she knows how I felt in high school with her posters all over my walls. Yup, I met her in person at Yorktown and had that image for many years. She was incredibly hot.
  6. Wow, what a whine-fest yesterday huh. I have a ton of Apple stuff because they are quality products and superior in many ways, however if they were to release a gaming system I find it hard to believe that it would be better than my PS3, so I wouldnt buy it just because its an Apple.
  7. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 03:18 PM) How about good workout songs? I listed to Pandora. But when I could run and used my shuffle my "finishing song" or the one you can call up to get you going was always Kickstart My Heart.
  8. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 03:19 PM) I have to say, this Beck kid seems to be my favorite pick so far. I would take him as my AAP if i wasn't so lazy and a terrible foster parent w/ my current AAP. But check out this nasty change-up by Beck.....damn. http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_...54&c_id=mlb Wow. He does have a little Peavy in his motion. He's got a little Radke on that change.
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 02:44 PM) Having a discussion with my friend about the best movie pre-workout: 300, Warrior, and Never Back Down top my list. Any of the Rocky movies are also a given. I sometimes watch a P90x infomercial or just check out my gf's US weekly's for motivation.
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 11:10 AM) There must just be a full-time p**** train rolling through there. The Bulin wall was there for a short time too.
  11. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 12:34 PM) Sure it does. It prevents the Big 10 from hardly ever winning BCS bowl games, much less National Championships. Therefore, you should care. It's the one league that stands in your way of being the best. Yes, we care about teams, but dont care about SEC hillbillies laughing at anything. It amazes me that the teams and fans in the SEC band together like they are all superior, its 1 or 2 teams that are good, the rest of you are in the main bucket like everyone else.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 08:41 AM) Trick question. The answer is Slayer, so I can get the castoffs Dont forget Slayer, Kaner and DRose live in the same building.
  13. Despite Ozzie's "this is who I am" schtick, he's actually much more toned down and nice in person. I had the pleasure of socializing with him several times and he was a very nice guy, nothing like what you see on TV.
  14. I saw on Twitter that the Bulls are interested in Nash? That would be weird. And I have to admit, I liked Westbrook ALOT more as a player before these last two series. He is a heads down ballhog.
  15. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 10:13 AM) I have no idea what they're thinking. They're being really dumb about this whole thing. I can safely say that the B1G is getting badly ripped on down here in SEC country. Trust me in that nobody cares about that. Delany loves the Rose bowl, and doesnt want all bowl games to be in the south. Other than that, he's an idiot. The 4 team playoff is good for the big conference, which includes the Big Ten. Someone needs to whiteboard this out for him. Plus what the hell is postseason play? I thought there were no bowls this year??
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 10:03 AM) I've never really heard him speak, so, someone help me out here... is Starlin Castro suffering from ADHD or something? Or is he just immature and spacey? Or is he just plain dumb, like box of rocks dumb? Young players make mistakes, but I can't remember a player ever making as many truly bone-headed ones as this guy has so far. He's a grade A moron.
  17. Great analysis everyone. I'll file the negative remarks away with the ones that said Chris Sale was a waste of a pick.
  18. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 03:22 PM) And since this is the pet thread. I was at Lincoln Square Mai Fest Saturday, and one of my biggest pet peeves is bringing a dog to an outdoor festival that is cramped like that. There was this one guy who was pouring beer on the ground for his dog to drink, letting his dog eat garbage (he said it was okay because the dog was old) and just letting his dog get trampled on. I just dont understand it. Just like the people who bring their children there. Under what circumstances is this a good idea. I am not considered a responsible person, I take many risks, but you dont put your kids/pets in harms way. I brought my dog to italian fest on taylor years ago and never would again. It scared the s*** out of her, there was tons of crap laying around like wing bones etc that would make her sick and it was annoying to me. IMO its either the "my dog is the coolest" crowd that brings them to everything (and some are chill and awesome) or the "look at me I own a dog" crowd.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 12:20 PM) Damnit. This is just gonna give away the secret of the Green Line back to downtown, which is always so much less crowded than the Red Line. And I just got a stop on Morgan!!!!
  20. I am allergic to cats so in turn that makes me hate those untrustworthy bastards.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 02:30 PM) That's probably because you don't really introduce her to many other dogs. Meh, mine has been introduced many times and she just doesnt care. My rotty on the other hand is like the mayor of dog street.
  22. Yeah if I had a yard or an acre I would let the dog out to run and thats it, unfortunately I have to get all my s*** on, poop bags, go down the elevator, and walk to tiny patches of half-earth (my dog pees and poops in the street).
  23. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 02:18 PM) We do, like a half acre or something. And when we are at our lake house or cottage, she doesn't wear a leash or chain. I assume the "walk your dog 5 times a day" business is for apartment dwellers or something. I live on madison st dude, every time my dog has to pee its a walk down the street to a bunch of 3x3 patches of dirt.
  24. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 01:49 PM) Why do we all watch a sport that is not 100% decided by the players? NHL, NBA, NFL, MLB are all somewhat dictated by the officials. NCAA bball is one of the extremes as well.
  25. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 01:49 PM) I think it can be a great idea, but you've got to put in the time with her...don't just sign her up and drop her off somewhere and then come back and get her... This +1000. Most "puppy" classes are about bonding not training every aspect of the dog. The socialization part is HUGE.
