  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 1, 2012 -> 09:04 AM) Matta had plenty of other coaching failures in that second half to focus on, and Sullinger needs to learn to not just quit on his team when the going gets tough...he did it for awhile against Cincinnati and he did it again last night. OSU should have won that game by 15. No amount of coaching offsets 8-23 shooting QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 1, 2012 -> 02:04 PM) Sullinger needs a left hand, a jump shot, and to explode off the floor to have a long NBA career. I know he has worked on his jumper but needs to be Garnett like with it since he will be undersized. He has a jump shot, in fact the best 3pt % on the team. He also wont face 7' defenders in the NBA, he will be against guys like Boozer. He will be a good not great player, with skills in the post and in the pick and pop. Thats about it. He also played almost the whole season with plantar facitis. That keeps alot of pros out for the season.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 30, 2012 -> 01:48 PM) Oh please, give me a break with that vacated bulls***. Plus, should an OSU fan really be talking s*** about vacated wins? (basketball or football) Actually, I'm the perfect person because I dont claim the wins that we vacated including 1999's final four. Fact is, Michigan paid for their team, and they didnt deserve the wins. Even so, they had arguably the best freshman class in history and came up short both in the conference and in the tourney. They have nothing on their most hated rival, Duke, and even classes like Florida. I'm actually fairly positive that there isnt one BCS fan on here whose school hasnt been hit with major sanctions is there?
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 30, 2012 -> 01:32 PM) Two title game appearances during an era where every team was loaded with great juniors & seniors, unlike nowadays. I wouldn't call that nothing. Vacated. Never happened. And zero conference titles surprisingly although those would be vacated as well.
  4. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 30, 2012 -> 01:26 PM) I dont really think those 3 guys would be the next fab 5, they are all good players but the Fab 5... Fab Five were rated in the top 100 of high school prospects in 1991, and four were in the top ten. Chris Webber was ranked #1, Juwan Howard was ranked #3, Jalen Rose was ranked #6, Jimmy King was ranked #9, and Ray Jackson was ranked #84. All but Jackson participated in the McDonald's All-American Game in 1991 In comparison, of the 3 you mentioned, only 1 is in the top 10 (Parker.) Its not even as good as Kentucky's class this year (Kidd Gilchrist, Davis, Teague, Wiltjer) and no one is really comparing them to the Fab 5. Either way, Groce should be competing with the OSU's, MSU's of the world, so its good news for Wisconsin, as most of those prospects werent going to be Badgers anyways. And those 5 guys won absolutely nothing. To get a class like that you need to pay for it, and Michigan paid 10's of thousands.
  5. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 30, 2012 -> 01:24 PM) His dad doesn't fly and wants to see every game according to the score. Illinois was also the leader until Weber got fired, apparently. I think he sticks somewhat close to home, though Kentucky would be included in that. f*** the score. NW, ILL, OSU and the rest of the Big Ten can forget about this kid. UK, UNC, and even KU have a better chance. I am souring on one and dones anyway, so sick of all of that bulls***. Tony Parker just said the other day that he was wary of schools that were going to make his fat ass lose weight. Seriously kid?
  6. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 30, 2012 -> 01:05 PM) You have a funny definition of a definitive statement. Anyways, they interviewed him on NBC. I didn't think he sounded too enthusiastic about Illinois and he was shaking his head when they started to ask him about it. He's not going anywhere in the Big Ten. I would be extremely surprised if he didnt play for coach Cal.
  7. Obviously Saad as well, and he looks like a future superstar. 76 points in 44 games. +35
  8. Good debate last night: Better draft pick: Noah Gibson
  9. They need to clinch, but not win too many games.
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 03:26 PM) Groce has already been recruiting Simeon's Kendrick Nunn (#18 on 2013 rankings). http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/colleges/p...-a-fan-of-groce And ideas about an Illinois Fab Five. Hope people's expectations don't get out of hand. He's got relationships at St Joe's and Young as well.
  11. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 02:14 PM) From the sounds of it, this CT guy is the San Jose Sharks of whatever show it is you guys watch. Always a favorite, never bringing it home. To be fair to him, he had to carry Wes through the finale last time, literally carry.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 02:01 PM) Leonard has a pretty damn good looking jumper. Anyways, not many people think he's returning, so it's probably not worth debating I would jump if I was him as well. There is no reason to showcase anything else for scouts, he's already a first rounder.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 02:01 PM) Leonard has a pretty damn good looking jumper. Anyways, not many people think he's returning, so it's probably not worth debating I disagree, plus he only shot about one per game this season, theres no much to go by. I think he holds the ball awkwardly and its over above his guide arm side. I'm sure he can develop a 15 foot and in shot, but his strength is back to the basket and hook shots.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 01:58 PM) But that's the thing, if Leonard comes back next year, wouldn't he want to try and show his extended range, etc? I think Leonard will kill it if he goes to the individual team workouts, etc. He'll be a top 10 pick this year, IMO. I dont think he really has any extended range. I'm sure illinois fans would say he is working on it, but his jump shot is pretty ugly. He would basically be in the middle dunking the s*** out of the ball in this offense. He would also be rolling ALOT to the basket on ball screens.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 01:51 PM) Leonard should, and likely will, go pro. Groce teaches a guard-oriented offense anyways. Eh, its a 4 out 1 in offense. One big man like that makes them very dangerous. He wouldnt be out on the top of the key like that dumb motion offense.
  16. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Mar 26, 2012 -> 11:25 PM) So.. I like my new iPad a lot! I wanted one since the first one came out but then held off and told myself i wouldn't get one until Apple releases an iPad with a proper retina display and voila my prayers have been answered. I will admit though, i already had a new Macbook Air and my use of this fancy new toy has been sort of relegated to the occasional game or reading books on the kindle app. Macbook Air=awesomeness.
  17. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 12:49 PM) Dj Richardson @djrich32 Me @BP3 and Coach Groce definitely gon have a good relationship......He also in love wit buffalo wings..... I want to thank all of my teammates for holding together through this transition...... 2012-2013 season has already started Once he explains the drive and kick offense he is going to install im sure they will love him.
  18. The real question outside of recruiting is how much will Illinois fans embrace the fact that Weber's motion offense is all but gone.
  19. Dennis Gates is the guy from FSU with chicago ties.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 10:53 AM) He was AWFUL last year when he played for Maryland I'd put him a notch below Wilson and Tolzien
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 11:28 AM) Yeah, that could be bad because of his enemies. Also, some coaches could be jealous that he got the job, which could lead to them avoiding any dealing with Illinois. So apparently he is looking at some FSU coach that is a Whitney Young grad with NBA experience? I couldnt grab the name. Thats a good sign. Secondly, Groce really designs his offense around guard play. He was one of the guys who decided to give Evan Turner the ball as a PG and dictate the offense. This is VERY good for recruiting in the Chicago area.
  22. Bananas is just small enough to float through the snow while CT sank to the bottom. I loved when Emily asked Ty if he wanted her to carry the log.
  23. QUOTE (Boogua @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 11:10 AM) Have you seen some of the rumored assistants that the illini might be looking at? Dynamic recruiters with Chicago ties. It's obviously not certain yet, but neither is Jerrance leaving. Chill out man. I saw they may hire the Simeon coach. Not sure if that would be good or bad. He has to have alot of enemies in the city.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 10:57 AM) Sounds like Jerrance Howard won't return, but still will have a good assistant staff in place. With that said, who knows how many defections there are if Jerrance leaves. I'm hoping Thad is on the phone with him right now, especially if he loses an assistant to OU (likely). I'll take some more chicago inroads.
  25. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 07:45 AM) Ty Issac from Joliet Catholic is considering Michigan. Holy crap. Kid is a beast. Doesn't belong in high school football. Welcome to 2 months ago. He's also considering USC hard.
