QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 11:36 AM) I wasn't saying that the Sox could have hired TLR. I was inferring that it's a good thing the Sox hired Ventura earlier, because he would obviously be the #1 candidate for the Cardinals job too. (sarcasm) TLR had less than one year of minor league managerial experience when he was hired by the White Sox as their MLB manager. Worked out pretty good.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 02:23 PM) What? No, that was a 'Breaking Bad' reference. "Hector" is a character on the show who could only communicate by ringing a bell. There's a twitter feed for Hector and all it is is "DING DING DING DING" and I discovered and shared it in the TV Thread late last week. It had nothing to do with your post, and I'd not even made that connection. ah, I didnt even pick that up. Maybe when I start watching that show when the snow starts falling.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 02:14 PM) Beat me to it! So is there a different word I should use when something I said would happen does? I dont think there were very many other people on here who thought they would pick up that option.

QUOTE (spiderman @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 02:14 PM) I tend to agree that the 25 man roster is pretty much in place, but do expect Quentin/Danks or Floyd to be moved. I also don't think Buerhle will be back, but don't think it's out of the question that they surprise me and bring him back. Do you think Thornton is moved then? Yes, I think he will be moved for sure. And also one or both of Danks/Floyd. Quentin should also be a goner. The coaching staff and FO (baseball related) clearly think that the team was good enough to win last season but underperformed due to some circumstances beyond their control. Ozzie and his coaches took alot of that heat and ultimately the fall.

QUOTE (spiderman @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 01:52 PM) Do we really consider Hector depth? He's unproven. I think they do. There was a reason he was one of the first guys up this year. You have Ohman to be the first loogy out of the pen and Santiago the second and long man from the left side. I firmly believe that almost every player on next years team is already in our system or on our roster.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 01:37 PM) I want this word removed from the English language. Or at the very least it should be filtered. You need to get rid of KW and Brooks to change that.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 01:41 PM) I'm just picking a level of a company. You can say that he was just a salesman in a company then, if that helps you swallow it. You watch The Office? It's like Andy getting promoted from being salesman, past Regional Manager, to David Wallace's job. Yikes, part of Robin's duties as the new manager will be taking over for the CFO? I bet Tim Buzzard SVP of administration is not happy about losing his duties.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 01:18 PM) There's a reason these things don't happen in the real world. It would make sense if Ventura had some management experience. It's like an owner of a business deciding to make his son, who had previously worked in the mail room for about 15 years and has since been backpacking across Europe for about 8 years, the VP of his company. It would help if the guy had even been a manager of a handful of employees at some level of the company beforehand. And instead of making his right-hand man someone who had experience with a high level of authority in another similarly-sized corporation, he picks his buddy who was the night manager of a White Castle. I don't have to have run a Fortune 500 company to know that this is a mistake. It might work out down the line somehow, but the guy should have at least put in some effort to get where he is. Do you honestly think what you wrote applies to this situation at all? If you do then it's probably not worth even trying to explain to you how terrible your reasoning is. In your example Robins illustrious MLB career is equal to working in the mail room. Lol.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 01:08 PM) He is an interesting one. The problem is if you make Sale a starter, and trade Matt, you have no lefty depth left. Hector says hi.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 01:06 PM) How about that. Santos Santiago Ohman Frasor Ohman Crain Reed gets the 7th bullpen spot? There you go.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 01:02 PM) But then we can't judge a rookie for failing, or any hitter for underperforming, because we don't know the skills it takes to reach that level. We have never even made it to minor league ball, let alone the majors, so we can't even begin to understand how much talent you truly need. Yes, if thats the platform you are taking to criticize the coaching hires. I dont think thats the case as people with zero experience working jobs can definitely succeed if they have the right tools and motivation. Once again, in this particular case if your only argument is that they are going to suck because they dont have experience you are basically arguing against your argument.

Find a good tailor, its more important than what kind of suit you have.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 12:56 PM) Unless it goes in favor of a point he's making Yes, if you dont actually read my post. Otherwise, good one.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 12:54 PM) Grad school. Watch that section of your closet grow. I buy 2 new suits every 3-4 months. Mens warehouse usually has a 2 for 2 designed suit sale that you can hit up and then my tailor does the rest (I dont let them cut the suit at that place). I have an entire section of my closet for suits at this point. I also go through a pair of black dress shoes about every 2-4 months.

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 12:48 PM) In other words, everything put on this board by everyone ever is complete nonsense No, thats overgeneralization. In this particular case the only negatives anyone can come up with about the coaching staff is that they have no idea how to do their job because they have never done that particular job. If experience is a prerequisite to understanding what it takes to do that job well then nobody on this board actually knows what it takes to do that job successfully. I would like to see the statements made being critical of the new coaches to at least have the understanding that if you are taking that position then you yourself are also talking completely out of your ass based on your argument. I would rather play the wait and see card. Clearly Robin has more experience at the major league level in the clubhouse than most of the managers that are being hired today. Since he also had direct influence on who his coaches were I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, especially before a single f***ing game has been played.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 29, 2011 -> 04:35 PM) Just bought first suit ever. Feel old. So you literally have ONE suit? That seems unpossible to me.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 12:28 PM) It started with the Ventura hiring being terrible. But with hiring a guy with no experience whatsoever, they absolutely needed to bring in a veteran major league coach/former manager to be the bench coach. Again, they went with a guy with no major league experience whatsoever. Posted by someone who has zero idea what it takes to be a bench coach or manager in the major leagues right? Since you also have no experience.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 12:27 PM) I always will have a soft spot for Rex. Only Bears jersey I own. He got so much undeserved s***. Then Cutler did too after his knee injury. But Tim f***ing Tebow, who has no business in the NFL gets his ass kissed by everyone. He got s*** because of his performance, which was understandable. Tebow wont get that for awhile, which is bulls***. However the worst is Cutler who gets s*** for his facial expressions. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 10:14 AM) Agreed. PSU can't move the football against any defense with a pulse and if they play a team with some talent on offense they are in big trouble. There are some good defenses in the conference this year (MSU, PSU, OSU, Illinois, etc.) but the offensive talent in the conference is just horrible. The QB play has been dreadful, there are only a handful of good wide receivers and while there are some solid backs in the conference, none of them really seem to be special. The best NFL talent in the league appears to be linemen and that doesnt really make for exciting football. -
Buehrle, Castro, Omar, Pierre all file for FA

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 09:42 AM) I guess he's tired of not being given an opportunity. Can't say I blame him. Buehrle is the only one they will even call back. The other 3 are long gone IMO. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 12:24 AM) Not sure the Big Ten needs help looking awful this year. True story, definitely a very down year. But PSU wouldnt show very well in a bowl game, they just arent very good. -
Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
RockRaines replied to macsandz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 30, 2011 -> 08:47 AM) The Cardinals got a needed starter for a talented, albeit struggling outfielder. The Blue Jays got a high-upside outfielder and a Kenny contract for Jason Frasor. The White Sox got Jason Frasor and a busted SP spect. There are two winners, and one clear, obvious loser. At this point, the Jays are the losers. Rasmus didnt do anything and they cleared out their bullpen.
