  1. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 08:41 PM) It would have taken something special to screw up their performance in the post season. Like not using dye in the 3 hole, taking out our starting pitchers in the alcs and not putting in el duque to save us in Boston
  2. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 08:40 PM) a game here or there, maybe. that's sort of the point, no reason to continue to fellate ozzie for a dominate pitching staff 6 years ago. Yeah, but what team is that and what manager?
  3. QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 08:38 PM) Couldn't be worse then Pierre. How would you fill in the rest of the lineup? Alexei Q Konerko Dunn Rios Ajp Beckham Morel/Omar
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 08:37 PM) 2005 was 6 years ago. And it was largely due to an unstoppable pitching staff from top to bottom, not brilliant managerial moves or strategy. Winning 6 years ago doesn't excuse the next 5 years of poor game management. Giving up outs with dumb bunts, giving up outs with unnecessary steals, lefty-righty obsession, bizarre bullpen choices. What team wins because of brilliant managerial moves and strategy?
  5. QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 08:35 PM) Teahen leading off? Yup, guy has been on fire and he and Omar have the 2 highest obp so far. I'm willing to try anything.
  6. QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 08:29 PM) I would love to see Alexei, Q, Konerko, Dunn as our 2-5. Can't be worse. I'm going to go the opposite of a speed lineup and play for the 3 run homer and put Teahen first for a few days a week and maybe Omar as well.
  7. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 08:28 PM) Can't disagree with that. I'd also like to see less Pierre in the leadoff spot if the f***er can't even use his only asset to steal goddamn base. Cosign that as well.
  8. QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 08:24 PM) @MDGonzales Mark Gonzales Oz thinking of dropping Dunn in the order, thinks he and others are pressing. Wants team to relax or it will kill his liver. Dropping Dunn in the order...wow, everyone has been saying that for months, but yet Ozzie just realizes this. To be fair the order has been in place officially for less than 3 weeks. But thank god he realized his lineup is s***. I would also like to see less of Gordon in the 2 hole.
  9. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 08:24 PM) is there anything oz does you don't make an excuse for? Yes, I'm sure you gloss over those posts though.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 08:20 PM) The outfield dropping flyballs is not on Ozzie. If those overpaid busters can't catch a ball, then they should bench themselves. Which makes me wonder if there is a leader on this team that can get all over those guys for bonehead plays. I don't think konerko is that guy and he's the damn captain.
  11. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 08:19 PM) I blame the manager for the team failing at fundamentals. Even today, Rios took a bad route and dropped a sure out that turned into a double, Konerko got picked off, Gordon f***ed up a double play. This team's defense has been lacking all season and it's really simple things that should be stressed. So he's responsible for every mistake a player makes during the game?
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 08:14 PM) First 12 innings of the season though greatly impact the offensive stats. Hey, I was all for hoping the offense struggled cause of the great pitchers we faced, but we looked awful tonight. So if you adjust that, the players haven't performed well at anything. Hard to put that on the manager and a few bunts. The players we have aren't very good right now and it's about time to realize that they are at fault. Losses make a manager look bad and wins make you forget they even exist.
  13. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 08:11 PM) Neither, it's the managing. The hitting and pitching will at least come around. How does the managing make more contact? How's does the manager make pitchers throw more strikes? It's the players. We aren't above avg in anything.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 08:11 PM) Hitting, not even close. In most of these games, they're not even hitting the ball hard. Dunn and Rios have hit maybe 6 balls hard all season, and most of Beckham's outs have been pathetic. 18th in ERA 23rd in baa 10th in batting avg 14th obp 13th in ops
  15. QUOTE (daggins @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 08:02 PM) Definitely, the dude has done a hell of a job so far and has an 0-2 record to show for it. So at what point do we look at the slow starts as less a product of talent than outside factors? This team is clearly better than last years but is quickly headed in the same direction. I know its early and all but digging a hole to climb out of is never a good way to run a team. I'm starting to think it's a leadership problem in the clubhouse for several bad seasons in a row.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 08:00 PM) Moving a runner into scoring position for Dunn is not even that important. I'd rather take my chances of Beckham first and thirding it with a single then relying on Dunn to get a base hit (especially with how awful he looks). I'm fairly sure Ozzie just wanted konerko to get an at bat since the rest of the hitters in front of him blow. I'm ok with that.
  17. At some point your players have to put it together. The pen has imploded, and the lineup has gone cold. One run out of this lineup is a joke no matter what night it is, even with a bunt or two. The 3,4,5 hitters on this team need to f***ing hit the damn ball and the rest of the guys need to slap some singles. I'm not sure how anyone in baseball could have managed a win with the performance by our offense today. Sucks for Danks who is having a stellar season.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 07:56 PM) If he's really that unsure of his 2/3 hitters, then move Alexei to 2nd and Quentin to 3rd. Is anyone on here sure of the 2 and 3 hitters? In this thread alone Dunn is worthless and Beckham is a bust.
  19. QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 07:55 PM) yeah who knows, maybe with 2 on no out maddon goes to the pen and it's a different story. Beckham gets out, well then it wouldn't have changed the outcome. As it was, you were GUARANTEEING that it would be harder to win. Odds of scoring go significantly down from 1 on no out to 1 on 1 out Even if that one on is moved to scoring position?
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 07:54 PM) Why is it always assumed a DP when a bunt is called? How often does Beckham hit into DPs? A lot less than he reaches base. Why not try a hit and run or have Beckham try to hit the ball to the right side. If Dunn gets a hit, there's a decent chance its for extra bases or maybe he coaxes a walk and even if Beckham doesn't advance him Pierre is on second. Most likely Ozzie knew there was a 100 percent better chance of konerko getting a hit than beckham and Dunn. And I can't say I disagree with him there.
  21. QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 07:52 PM) haha ozzie's a joke. walker's a joke. It was just a matter of time until it's all Walkers fault wasn't it? Coopers fault for the first week and a half, now it's walkers.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 07:51 PM) Right now, Dunn's swinging an invisible bat. Just a whopping number of strike outs...he'd made Jordan Danks, Jared Mitchell, and Tyler Flowers blush. He'll do that. Those guys with they could put up a 900 ops in the majors. Shields with a gem. f***.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 07:49 PM) Yes...Dunn is the easiest out in baseball right now probably. Our manager seriously needs to be fired. No, he's not.
