QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 03:50 PM) Terminology question...is that a skill or a sport? Many people couldn't say, compete in a trivia competition against a machine, but I doubt most people consider Jeopardy a sport. Rapid trivia responses is a skill you can teach yourself and get better at with practice; doesn't make it a sport. Then you get into what is a sport and what is not. If a machine is doing all the work, does that still count as a sport? i.e. racing. How about if an animal does most of the work? I considering shooting a sport, especially ones that incorporate other things like the biathlon. Those f***ers have to ski until they are exhausted and then shoot targets, damn.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 03:07 PM) Neither is hunting animals with modern weapons. Sure it is, shooting with modern weapons is a sport in its own right. I'd venture to guess there are more people on here that could hit a homerun than could hit a moving target at 100 yards.

QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 03:23 PM) Which wireless router do you guys recommend? Preferably under $100. I have a PS3, but don't play too much online, and while i don't steam Netflix yet, I plan on getting it soon. Aside from that, i'll have my laptops/printer/phones connected to it. Suggestions? Amazon.com. I use a linksys wireless N router. It cost me like 45 bucks.

QUOTE (IChaseBlackWood @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 02:22 PM) oh hush your dirty little mouth!!! Hopefully to God that never has to happen With women I've seen it in mid-twenties to late 20's. It will happen sometime, then either you amp up the workouts or cut down the diet. I blew up early in my 20's after dedicating myself to the McD's monopoly game, but have leaned down now in my late 20's.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 10:21 AM) You could just have this turned into perhaps a "Workout thread" that could be bounced on occasion. Maybe, I was thinking if we had a forum we could do workout of the month posts and whatnot, make it more community oriented. No big deal.

QUOTE (IChaseBlackWood @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 12:22 PM) i said CINNAMON raisin! Its delicioso! I just love bagels ... Cinnamon raisin is my fave, but i love blueberry, plain, onion.. It doesnt matter.. Slap some cream cheese on it and hand it over!! Just wait until your metabolism slows down and bagels get cut out of your diet. I miss them.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 07:32 AM) People would go weeks/months without using the workout forum. Shack and I can monitor it and keep it going.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 10:00 PM) Any opinion? I have the opportunity to pick up a new one with book and video for $100. It is a good supplement to a total body workout. I like the suspended pulls and push ups as part of a good circuit training, especially since you can modify them to change it day to day. Good technology.

QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 08:19 PM) Their whole defensive strategy is fouling. Thats why they never do anything on a neutral floor, road floor, or in the NCAA tournament. They love the moving pick. -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 07:56 PM) Yeah, that was one of the subforums that I feel legitimately should exist. I miss it too. Someone needs to set it back up.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 07:12 PM) Has anybody here tried TRX? We utilize the TRX system at my gym in some of our workouts.
-
QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 03:22 PM) Yeah. The only reason I started going to the gym is my company is paying for a corporate membership to the one that just opened up in my building. It was a one time $10 charge for me and that's it....kinda too good to pass up. Plus it forces me to take an hour lunch, which I never used to do. I would just sit at my desk through lunch and still take support calls and the like. So anyway, I always used to work out at home. I have free weights and a stability ball. I ditched my bench when I moved though. Free weights and a stability ball will be plenty for an at home workout. I'll try to put a few together from my gym and my trainer that you can do in 30-45 min that will really get you going. And Ill add this just for general: Alot of people have those stability balls and I see them just doing that same crunch exercise over and over again, there are so many other exercises on that thing that are excellent for more than your core.

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 12:59 PM) I certainly don't want to burn muscle. I basically have a decent build under the 12 pack I developed. I just want to lose the gut. When I'm in that "fat burn" mode, it's like I'm not even working hard...hardly even sweat. It's almost like trying to walk super slow....it's awkward. Rock I could use some new exercises. I like the elliptical because it uses both my arms and legs. I can see burned calories and it's way more than I got on the treadmill. Also, it is a nice fit time wise. The weight loss program on there is like 35 minutes which is just about the time I have for it on my lunch break. I can do some different stuff at home, like crunches or what not. Do you want to do some 30 min cardio-type exercises at home? You could probably get a very good strength/conditioning workout at home in 30 min with about 6-7 moves if you really dedicate yourself to timing your workout, and giving it full effort. If you have additional materials like some free weights, or stability ball, that would help as well.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 01:31 PM) I'm interested in some other circuits to possibly run. I've had such a ridiculous work out for the last 4 or so months and I'm just getting tired of it. I'm ready to try something new as I continue to get in better shape performance wise but I can't seem to lose the last bit of fat around the stomach that is keeping the abs more hidden than I want. What are you doing now? Do you workout at the gym? What kind of core work do you do? If someone uses a gym where they have kettle bells, i could really help you blast some of the core muscles you probably aren't working focusing on abs. I'll try to draw yo a diverse 45 min circuit that some folks could use/modify for a cardio/shredding workout.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 11:24 AM) what he says and what is a reality can be two different things, depending on what they hear through the gravevine and what teams dump salary etc... I think LAA is his best bet for leaving, outside of that I'm not sure who would really give him 8/200+ My short list for 8/200 would be Cubs Yanks Boston LAA LAD STL TEX HOU ATL TOR DET SEA Probably more. I think some teams have been waiting for him to come available, he's one of the best hitters to ever play. -

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 09:55 AM) that's my feelings on this. It wouldn't shock me if at some point, really any point during the season, there's breaking news he resigned. He can sell a whole press conference of him saying this is where his heart is, blah blah blah. He said no in season negotiation and his agent seems determined to take him to free agency. Is there a team in the majors that wouldnt break the bank to sign this guy to an 8 year contract? -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 04:33 PM) It will be interesting to see if he plays the whole five years at a good level, or if he gets lazy. He'll get traded during that contract at some point.

Hightower will eventually ruin the flow of whatever game he is officiating. Its a concrete fact. At some point he is going to modify how he calls fouls and completely change the pace of the game. He may even throw a technical in there to get some camera time. That technical last night was weird. At first I thought it was an old school spiking the ball T, but actually he just yelled f***. -
The calorie counter on an eliptical is an estimate and shouldnt be taken as reality. Furthermore your body is going to start getting used to that exercise since it only uses a certain muscle group and your progress will taper off. I would use half your workout on that and half on some circuit training incorporating some weights or body weight exercises. That will be much more effective that just the eliptical for an hour to lose weight. I would be more than happy to contribute some exercises for a good 30-45 min circuit to burn calories and fat.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 10:24 AM) Haha, thanks! But seriously, other people must have facebook friends who have albums of pictures of their pets. It's seriously pathetic. I have those too, I think its somewhat pathetic, but not as bad as people posting several other things like freakin ultrasound photos and pictures of what they cooked each night.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 03:49 PM) I'd probably take Sullinger, Irving, Perry Jones, Derrick Williams, Brandon Knight and his teammate Jordan Hamilton over him. Sullinger is already what he described above. He hasnt even gotten a real chance to show his midrange game in college yet. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 02:24 PM) Unless something has changed, there is no way Kanter isn't in this upcoming draft. He was ruled permanently ineligible so there wouldn't be any reason for him to stay at Kentucky another year. Yeah, he's gone. He's physically ready for the NBA anyway.
