  1. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 10:31 AM) Cool, thanks. I appreciate your help and from everyone. In the past, I've either met friends up there who knew how to get around or we just got tickets to games and winged everything else. I'm typically not much of a planner so this is different for me. My girlfriend's never been up there and wants to see a couple of things so I need to make sure we have the time. It should be fun. Another question I have is about travel. Heading back north to the hotel around 3:30 or 4:00 on Thursday. Would I be better taking the #2 bus (Hyde Park Express) along Lake Shore Drive for the scenery or taking the #55 bus to the Red Line @ Howard to Chicago and walking from there? Would traffic be an issue taking the bus? Anyone use the public tranportation enough to know? Take the bus. Traffic wont be too bad, but that redline stop is garbage.
  2. So Iphone OS4 although awsome in theory is complete crap for alot of people including me right now. I am presently downgrading back to 3.1.3 because for me and most of the other users out there are having complete issues with googlesynch (not me) and exchange sync (me). The phone simply cannot access exchange environments more than once a day at most. They need a fix fast because I dont think that many people can downgrade like I can.
  3. Boy was I drunk yesterday. Awesome game.
  4. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 10:15 AM) This help? Walk to Robie House Yes. You'll be perfectly fine there. Keep walking a bit and check out the U of C campus. Its really nice.
  5. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 10:05 AM) Anyone see any problems with walking from the Museum of Science & Industry to the Robie House (5757 S. Woodlawn)? It looks to be about a 20 minute walk. It's basically a straight shot on 57th St to Woodlawn. No potential safety issues? It would be in the middle of the day. Not sure where that is. Be careful moving west from the museum to your destination. Most of the area north is the University of Chicago which is ok, but the rest of the area is terrible. Englewood is west of there past the highway and is literally the wild west with shootings.
  6. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 10:00 PM) Holy crap, this is getting crazy. I don't think I've ever planned a trip like this. Here is our tentative agenday. Tell me how crazy we are for trying to pull this off. Thursday - arrive Chicago 8:10am -- drop off bags at hotel -- head to Museum of Science and Industry (cab or bus? - will cab be any faster?) -- leave about 1:00 and head to the Frank Lloyd Wright Robie house for a 2:00 tour -- head back to hotel, check in, change clothes -- Head to Art Institue (free admission after 5:00 and open until 8:00) -- dinner at Tufano's (you guys sold me on it, especially after watching the Triple D video) ------Salad and calamari for aps. Cavatelli w/vodka sauce and meatballs w/ chicken picante. -- probably pass out next Friday -- up early for breakfast at The Bongo Room -- to Navy Pier for a 10:00 architecture cruise -- head back to hotel (if time allows) to change/get what we need for the rest of the day -- head to Wrigleyville for a 1:20 game -- see Blue Man Group at 7:00 -- pizza at either Giordano's or Lou's Saturday -- breakfast at Ann Sather (cinnamon rolls) -- briefly check out Millenium Park or walk to the beach -- head to Wrigley for a 12:05 game -- drink after game? -- dinner at Smoque after the game? -- Maybe head to Navy Pier Sat night? Will there be fireworks? Sunday -- possible visits to The Field Museum to see "Sue" quickly, Millenium Park or to the beach -- Head to airport about noon Fixed for menu. what days are these? I may go into tufanos that night.
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 11:43 AM) My blackberry is ridiculous if I just use it for calls. The thing lasted like my entire honeymoon on two charges (10 nights). I stream Pandora all day and it still goes a full day and a half without getting to low. I would go a 2 day business trip and not even bring a charger. It was fantastic. Now my iphone dies after a half day.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 11:20 AM) Not sure if it makes you feel better and the battery life you are getting is completely unacceptable, but you won't find a smart phone out there that people won't gripe about the battery life. If your a hard user, you probably won't go more than a full day on a charge on most of them. But again, half a day without being hardcore on it, that is just pathetic and I assume it will get better. blackberries are the only "smart phone" that i have used that has great battery life, the rest of the touch screen ones are garbage. I guess its the price we pay for being awesome.
  9. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 11:28 AM) carl crawfrod anyone? he is available as we speak, and a natural LF to replace pierre unlike McCutchen or Bourn. We could send Viceido, Flowers, Pierre and some cash to Tampa for Crawford? That would add an impact bat and improve the lead off spot and defense in one move. Of course he would be a rental.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 07:53 AM) I am awful at golf. I don't mean I'm a novice - I mean I'm really bad. I tried playing 1-2 times a week for a while one summer to see if I got any better - my "better" was getting my scores into the 105-110 range (I think 105 is the best score I've ever had). More typically I'll hit 120-130 with a few mulligans. I once hit a drive from the tee that went about 4 yards... STRAIGHT BACKWARDS. Another one went about 6 inches forward, and 4 inches buried into the ground. I have broken the door of an electrical box with a ball I hit. I have hit drives that sliced so badly, they didn't just go onto the next fairway, but they literally went to the next one over from that. I eventually switched from righty to lefty at one point, and was equally as bad. I gave up golf. Thats not bad at all to be honest. Thats just a beginner player playing inconsistent. Keep teeing it up, hit the driving range and find what works for you.
  11. QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 04:43 PM) now you got me feenin' http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/sfWMOqUEp8S...LCPkpZiRafi1wLQ I f***ing hate you.
  12. QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 04:44 PM) Cafe Bionda is amazing as well, personally, if I wasn't getting Nana's Gravy or Rigatoni with Vodka Sauce there - I'm going RoSal's everytime. I'll make sure to order exactly what you get Oh sorry, that was my tufanos order. And I LOOOOOOOOOVVVVVEEEEE the stuffed shells at Bionda. That and the calamari/zucchini ap they have.
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) EVO has the same thing. Agreed. Pretty cool. The iphone has several free apps like that.
  14. QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 04:09 PM) Im willing to bet that you can get Berkman for that You arent going to get an impact player without including Hudson, Flowers or Viciedo most likely. Thats really all we got.
  15. QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 02:28 PM) This, one of the cheapest (if not THE cheapest) entree on the menu and it is great That skirt streak is downright sexual. The chimchurri sauce is the best ever and I just crave it.
  16. QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 02:31 PM) I have had it before and I much prefer RoSal's or Il Vicinato. RoSal's is made to order with nearly everything on the menu and tell you that you may have to wait at least a half-hour for your entrees as it is made completely fresh (NOTE: If you have never had FRESH pasta as in never frozen or boxed, you need to get some here.) What do you usually get at Tufano's? I'll have to try again They are different. RoSal's is a Sicilian masterpiece and Tufanos is just like a mama's kitchen. Cheap, good, easy, casual. RoSal's food overall is much better. In fact, Cafe Bianda is better as well. I get the salad and calamari to start. Then I get a half order of cavatelli with vodka sauce and meatballs and a half order of the chicken picante. The Chicken and Veal Picante is unreal.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 02:34 PM) Kyle Beach will be more than happy to step in and take over the exact physical, pain in the ass role that Buff played so well. You're all going to love this kid very, very soon. With the Spokane Chiefs, of the WHL, Beach had 52 goals and 34 assists (86 points) in 68 games played. He also mucked it up with 186 fight and raucous-causing penalty minutes. Hawks stuck his ass on the Ice Hogs for the playoffs where he tallied 3 goals in 4 games. He's going to be fun. The dissapointment in Buff by the front office was his point totals. The guy simply didnt become what they thought he could until they faced the Canucks in the playoffs. Beach is the guy they think could play that role coming next season. I would guess ALL of the young guys in the parade will be up with the team next year.
  18. You know it. Been out several times already. Trying to break 90 this year, hopefully with consistency. My home course is usually harborside or Cog Hill #2.
  19. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 11:28 AM) I just dont see KW trading 2 long term position players and a potential 2-3 type starting pitcher for 1.5 years of Fielder, especially with Boras as his agent. Be prepared for the Adam Dunn rumors to continue to heat up because it makes the most sense for the current state of the team. Dunn isnt going to be traded, its been said by him and the Nats.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 11:16 AM) But does it really, really make sense to trade Flowers, Hudson, Danks/Morel (etc.) for Prince Fielder? I'm not even convinced it makes complete sense to trade Viciedo for Fielder, simply because 6 years of an affordable Viciedo might end up providing a lot more production than a season and one-half of Fielder, and then there's the fact that he will have to adjust to the AL pitching as well. (Yes, I'm well aware Fielder is a proven commodity...and that the trade would be much bigger than Viciedo for Fielder anyway.) That's a riskier move than adding Rios and Peavy, because we lost a fifth starter/long reliever out of that, not 2 or 3 key future pegs on our roster. Because if we can't keep Fielder long-term (or afford him, and we haven't exactly shown a proclivity for handing $100 million+ contracts out), then this franchise is really going to be in a huge hole, and it would also make it nearly impossible to keep Danks as well. I just don't think you can do it, simply because Minnesota has a lot more bullets and they can trump any move we make...we have to fight it out this season and preserve out competitiveness for the future as well. This is a "go for broke," all cards and money in move, and it's just a questionable move because 1B/DH has proven to be a position where it's easier to find comparable production (unless it's someone like Pujols on a whole other plane of impact) and split up that money going to Fielder 3-4-5 ways. Well, a few days ago everyone was saying Flowers wont contribute and Viciedo is a 1B. Now if you are talking money, Fielder immediately takes Konerko's money after this season and we arent much worse for wear. As far as similar production, 400 OBP and a guy who won a HR title isnt something that is THAT easy to find to be honest.
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 11:21 AM) Yeah i'm with the others that say, if anything, Italy feels even worse for not picking Rossi than Rossi does for trying to make the Italy team instead of ours. Both squads could certainly use a player like him though, especially the Italians apparently. The italians picked a poor team and it showed. Good riddance.
  22. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 11:12 AM) I'd give up a first-round pick WITH Brian Campbell for someone to take his contract. He is a very good player Campbell and really improved defensively this year, but his contract is killing this team. If we could convince a team to take Campbell and adding a first rounder could help, it would probably mean we could keep Steeger and Ladd. As well, we are stacked with good defenseman prospects. If you unload Soup and can bring on another D-man in trade or FA, then our cap issues are solved. I WOULD like another 1st round pick though.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 11:32 AM) Isn't Iphone battery life supposed to be pretty short too? They are all pretty s***ty compared to my old blackberry. The problem is leaving Wi-fi on, or bluetooth, or loading video. They all eat so much bat.
  24. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 11:31 AM) Don't do Mortons. Call me crazy, but every time I've went to Mortons (~3 to 4 times) I've been very disappointed. Depends on the time and place. In general they are all very good, just overpriced and sometimes very vanilla. You have to spend alot to get alot there. There are plenty of other places with great steak. IN fact if I was going to recommend one at this very instant, I would say go to Carnivale (on fulton) and get the skirt steak. The place has a GREAT atmosphere, good service, drinks, and the food is very very good.
