  1. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 05:15 PM) Supposedly Turner was Wisconsin's to lose and Matta found his estranged father in Columbus and worked some magic. Its why Ryan always talks so much to Turner because he really thinks highly of him. They had some really good exchanges on some behind the scenes stuff when he played for him on the national team and also on the Journey on the B10 network.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 05:19 PM) Turner's the same person who one day said Illinois was his leader, and the very next day, announced he was going to Ohio St. I love Turner though, as he seems to hate Weber and the Illini as much as I do. Illinois was the last school to offer him, he was waiting. Ryan was by far the leader for his services until Thad snatched him up. The father stuff isnt true though. His mother LOVES Thad, and she's the king in that family. http://www.cleveland.com/osu/index.ssf/201...d_a_buckey.html http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/sport...at=&sid=101
  3. More importantly: Cowley has kids? What kind of idiot would let that ugly nerd impregnate them?
  4. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 04:59 PM) Bohannon was a 4* recruit at the time, and was booed relentlessly every time he played Iowa (his dad was a rose bowl qb for them). Jarmusz has not turned out that great, but he was Mr Basketball. And what I meant is that you never know what talent will turn into, just because a kid is a 4* doesnt mean hes that great. Truth. I cant believe that Jarmusz was Mr Basketball. He's bench filler. OSu fans always point to Turner being like the #13 SF in his class and how nobody saw what he would become, except maybe Bo and Thad.
  5. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 04:47 PM) After watching Linebrink last inning, Thornton still makes this look so damn easy. I really really hope some team gets desperate for relief pitching and bites on Linebrink.
  6. QUOTE (zenryan @ Mar 18, 2010 -> 09:14 PM) And the drama queesn that is Bryce Brown decides its time to pack his bags and leave Tennessee. espn HAHAHAHA. Thats awesome.
  7. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 08:55 AM) Last night was as good a game as I have seen in a while. The Kings never really got into the game and that was a back to back for the Hawks and the Kings had been off since Sunday. Kane and Hossa seemed glued to the boards though and very sluggish. The defense was incredibly solid and Keith showed that he is the best player on that team. I think he played every minute of every power play. Gotta say it, Buff was solid defensively last night.
  8. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 04:45 PM) Im not saying Wofford is good or bad, just if Wisconsin had the 5 seed they probably dont beat Cornell the way they played today. As for "overcome lack of talent", Im not exactly sure thats a fair statement. Leur was a pretty highly regarded recruit, same with Nankivil. Bohannon was Mr. Basketball in Iowa, Taylor was Mr. Basketball in Minnesota and Jarmusz was Mr. Basketball in Wisconsin. Bohannon was seriously MR Basketball in Iowa? Wow that actually speaks more about the talent level in Iowa. Jarmusz is garbage, sorry. Leur is good, as are Hughes and Taylor, underrated really.
  9. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 04:35 PM) But they've overcome it plenty enough. Wins against Maryland, Duke, Purdue with Hummel, Ohio State, Marquette, Michigan State...that's about as good as a profile as anyone in the country. Now are any of those teams as good as Kentucky? I'm not sure. The Wildcats have yet to beat a top tier team. They surely haven't even played a team like Wisconsin, whether that be stylistically or statistically. Ohio State without Turner. Michigan beat them without him too. Wisconsin, like Minny, lives and breathes by home wins. They can throw a team out of its rhythm in the tourney however which is an advantage.
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 04:29 PM) Wisconsin could perhaps frusterate Kentucky/put them to sleep, but the Wildcats still have immeasurably better players, and that's hard to overcome. I think Cousins is the difference maker in that game, I dont see the Buzzcuts being able to stop him.
  11. QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 04:28 PM) I'm not going to argue, but Wofford is pretty legit. They are not a garbage mid-major that snuck into the tourney. I'm not surprised they hung with Wisconsin. I had Wofford winning that game in a few brackets, they are a serious team. They've played some good teams tough this season.
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 04:24 PM) Good Lord, the way Wisconsin plays basketball is absolutely unwatchable. Bo Ryan is a great coach who gets everything he can out of limited talent, but basketball would not have many fans if everybody played that style. I would think Cornell has a great opportunity to win again on Sunday if they can just hit some shots like they are capable of. Thats how the Wisconsin Buzzcuts roll. Slow, methodical, then BOOM 3 pointer.
  13. I think Bo Ryan is a prick, but god damn I love watching him coach, especially when his team is playing like s***.
  14. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 04:22 PM) Castro in for Theriot, he was the one with the E. He lollipopped it into the crowd. Thought Pierre was over there for a second.
  15. Starlin castro has zero arm. And apparently either does Byrd.
  16. nice!! You CAN do something right after all!!!
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 02:45 PM) Seriously, how was that not a technical on him? What would the call be? A heads up play by throwing the ball off an opponent and then not saying anything while the guy tried to come after him? I hate the guy too, but there was zero foul there whatsoever.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 08:21 AM) Yeah, that'd be unpleasant. He would have signed Matsui this offseason, but to a 7 year 120 million dollar contract, backloaded.
  19. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 10:59 AM) I personally want this one from Lids: http://www.lids.com/pid/20150797 But to answer your Q: A Only if you keep the sticker on and wear it with a completely flat brim, then it would make sense.
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 01:37 PM) Other than $$$$, what does Auburn offer in basketball-wise that Minnesota doesn't??? According to CBS, he makes $1.75 mil now, and Auburn would offer $2 mil, so thats not an enormous pay raise for someone like him. SEC seems like a lateral or even step down move to me. Especially at Auburn. Maybe if he was the football coach?
  21. Ah Gophers, making me look smart by picking Xavier.
  22. That was clearly the best first day of the tourney we've seen in years. How many last second shots can we possibly see back to back to back. Unreal. Hopefully today is just as good (except hopefully an OSU win by big)
  23. QUOTE (The Baconator @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 02:54 AM) I originally said B given the two options. But seeing as how people are now talking about other options, I will say that among my many Sox hats, my favorite has to be the 1918 vertical Sox with the O and X inside the S. White on blue, I love it. Someone mentioned that logo in the White Sox jersey thread, I believe. Just an awesome logo, even given how classic the current logo has become. And I honestly thought that, when presented the two options, you should def look at other hats such as the one I described. Ah I have that one. Im pretty sure I've acquired every franchise hat throughout the Sox uniform changes for the most part.
  24. A because B is a terrible mash-up of two era's. If you want an 83 hat, just get an 83 hat.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 18, 2010 -> 08:39 PM) I can't believe GTown is getting killed. Did anyone have Ohio? On ESPN last night they literally said, sorry Ohio, you have no chance.
