QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 12:11 AM) I'm a college student. I don't know what this "having money" thing is. Other than that I have enough to go to spring break and pay for bar bills. Oh you will, and even the lowest salary will seem like alot to you. I didnt make much in my entry level sales job out of college, but with low rent and easy access to bars and whatnot I had the time of my life. Once you start earning money, life is quite different. The downside is that you will always want more of it.

QUOTE (maggliopipe @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 01:35 PM) I'm gonna give this a shot. I'd like to drop about 15 extra pounds I've been carrying since college and with my 30th birthday just around the corner, there's all the inspiration I need. I've been running 12-20 miles a week for the past 2+ years and have really just fluctuated around the same weight give or take 5 pounds, which has been frustrating. After reading through some of the P90X literature, this has happened because I haven't been eating enough and also the eating schedule that I follow sucks. It's really tough for me to swallow anything before 10am. I eat a small lunch (a bagel or a small sandwich), then snacks when I get home (not good ones) followed by a large meal during which I generally gorge myself. For roughly 4-5 years, I've only very rarely had soda, mostly just water. Sooo, we'll see how this goes. How do you guys handle it if you're going out of town for a weekend, or you're having company over? Do you just pick up where you left off? Go back a few days? Also are the protein drinks/bars necessary or is this just the company trying to make some extra loot? Ill do doubles one day to make up for it, or just push them back a day as long as my diet stays good. You can modify the workout as long as you keep your days filled, I know Shack cycles for cardio and I do vball monday and wed instead of doing yoga and sometimes plyo though now I am doing plyo on fridays instead of legs and back/.

QUOTE (Tex @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 09:30 PM) I would just like to mention one thing. A friend of mine, + or - 50 by a couple three years just retired. He never earned more than $60,000 per year, never spent more than $25,000. That's right, he saved over *half* of his income every year. I will be working at least another 15 years to retire on less than he has. He built a sailboat and will soon be starting a circumnavigation of this planet with his wife. You have to live somewhere where the cost of living is very low to accomplish that feat.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 11:07 PM) Ugh that movie was absolutely terrible. What I found facinating was that I thought Kristin Davis looked the best out of all the women in that movie, and shes the oldest.

QUOTE (The Gooch @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 08:00 PM) Actually finished plyo this week. Granted I made several of the exercises 20 seconds long instead of 30, but definitely an improvement from last week. That rock star jump is hard as hell. I love the sports exercises at the end. They really pumped me up to finish the workout strong. And if CST is the hardest workout like you say it is Rock, then I am dreading week 5 lol CST is just the hardest resistance workout. Plyo and possibly core syn are the other two toughies. Plyo takes the cake of all of them though. If anyone wants to start the program, I give them Plyo and tell them that if they can do half of it, they are golden. I had a friend who couldnt make it through the prayer sqauts.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 10:46 PM) just finished my week 10 CST. actually went a lot better - was able to up a lot of weight, and did - wait for it - 10 one armed pushups. Now granted i didn't go low at ALL and my arm was way out in front - basically an easiest of easy version (if there is such a thing) but nonetheless! and i will say that i LOVE the punches at the end, i can just see the veins in my shoulders/arms bulging with rippling muscley power. haha I want to kill two twitch speed pushups with my bare hands. ARX just makes it worse because I then want to murder adam and his ripped abs.

CST and ARX. f*** I hate this day, worst of the week. CST is easily the hardest workout, but I love the pump I get.

    LOST!!!!

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) Not sure what you mean. They were Others, some died, the rest went to the Temple at the end of Season 3 and have been there until this season. I think the Richard centric episode will show his connection to the Others and to Ben. He was probably the middle man between the two. AH, i forgot some of them went to the temple. It just seemed weird that the entire group of people that followed Ben and at some point Richard were just sort of forgotten as soon as they introduced the temple.
  11. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 04:29 PM) There is no way anybody had them 9th or worse. Iowa, PSU, and IU were the consensus last 3 and I doubt people had Wisconsin finishing behind NW. But I agree with Ryan as Big 10 coach of the year. Gotta be Ryan or Matta. Painter and Izzo had easily the most hyped teams in the conference at the beginning of the year and both had to share the title with a team that was an "also ran". They also let other teams in the race by losing crucial games. Painter barely was an avg coach this season.
  12. The coaches balloting for the Big Ten conference awards are a joke. Who wouldnt vote for Evan Turner as player of the year? And Matt Painter for coach of the year? Give me a break.

    LOST!!!!

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 03:40 PM) Figured Others vs. Dharma was the Others didn't want Dharma there, experimenting and possibly exploiting the island. I just take the current on island stuff as a way to reveal what the island is and what is its history. Much more than DHarma and the 50s with the US Military showing up and being killed off. Then who were the others that followed Ben?

    LOST!!!!

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 03:33 PM) Yep, looking back on things, there's maybe 3 seasons that was completely wasted (if not more). The whole Dharma thing was pretty worthless in retrospect. Right, almost zero focus on the "hidden" symbols in the Dharma stations and getting to the root of the whole Others vs Dharma people quandary. I just dont understand how they could write off seasons of theories and attention paid to those, it was a complete waste of time and effort.

    LOST!!!!

QUOTE (BFirebird @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 03:25 PM) I have been confused by all of these as well. I am assuming they will tie it in somehow in the last 1/3 of the season but I am not so sure anymore. I wouldn't think they would just throw away all that information and build up...but I guess you never know. The most important aspect of the show for several seasons was the danger of the others and Ben and trying to find out where they came from, now they are pretty much irrelevant as the "Temple" has been brought into play for some reason and who knows what those people are doing there.

    LOST!!!!

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 02:49 PM) In the grand scheme of things, I agree. It's been pretty bad. Overall, I liked the past two episodes. This "Temple" and the good vs evil stuff makes all the others tension throughout the series worthless. Those people essentially have zero roles at this point, and their evil leader is now a scared nothing in the big picture. So we basically wasted a few seasons focusing on their lives and their struggle? And the time skipping had basically zero meaning as well as the constant? WTF.

    LOST!!!!

Long time Lost fan, watched and enjoyed every season. This one is terrible, sorry but it is. Introducing new characters for seemingly no reason, and completely taking one of the best bad guys on TV in Ben and basically making him a non-story. Sorry, but this season is poorly written and IMO making the show hard to watch.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 09:55 PM) A LOT of critics said it shared the same themes as Dances With Wolves. I said that while watching it. Dances had a better overall plot IMO, but Avatar is one of the most interestingly done movies in our lifetime. The effects were simply ridiculous in 3-D.

  21. Moving one person back in the pen is what kills pitching staffs. All of a sudden your weakest guy throws more innings and the pen gets overworked putting more pressure on the starting staff tiring it out as well. Not good. But all I could think when I heard the news was YES!!!!!!!!!

  23. QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 10:45 AM) I know...i get pissed sometimes because I hate carrying cash around with me for some reason Plastic has conditioned us to avoid cash. Living where I do, I have to carry cash whether its for a cab, valet, dinner, convenience store visit, its all cash all the time.

    The Money Thread

QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 10:26 AM) A couple of things: First, a lot of credit unions and smaller banks are part of co-op networks where you can use the ATMs of any bank in the network for free. Additionally, the fact that most places take plastic and that you can get cash at nearly any grocery or big box store has drastically reduced the need for ATMs. Second, my wife and I have an account with a credit union and one with Washington Mutual (now Chase). It's 100% apparent how much more the credit union values our business. Their overdraft fees are more modest, they actually will reject debit/credit transactions rather than putting them through and charging a fee (the law now mandates that banks give you a choice in this, but the credit union was always this way), you can view your online statements going back years and years (whereas Chase only keeps them for 6 months unless you pay them extra), Chase charges weird fees for transferring between checking and savings, the credit union gives us instant access to large checks deposited at an ATM, whereas Chase will freeze half the amount of a large check for several days, etc. etc. etc. The flip side is that the credit union is not going to give you a free toaster or gift card or whatever. They are also not going to pay your fees if you choose to use out-of-network ATMs. The flipside to those goodies, though, are the holds, increased fees, etc. I can get online statements on my Chase acct dating back to 2004 when I opened it, and I've also never seen any fees like you described, I move money to my savings twice a month and havent seen a fee. I dont deposit checks since I have direct deposit so I dont have the pain of this freeze you speak of. Maybe this was a WaMu thing? Your ATM argument is one that I am not familiar with. Are you saying that doing a POS transaction is the same as an ATM withdrawal? Maybe living in the city make it more relevant to use ATM's, but its much more convenient for me to walk to the corner and take money out of an ATM instead of driving to the grocery store and buying something to take out money.
  25. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 07:16 PM) Uh oh, Felix is going to be upset. Damian Johnson doesn't even make the Big 10 all defensive team and Kramer won defensive player of the year. I guess flopping all over the place and fouling people on every possession is the key to being defensive player of the year. Kramer is incredibly overrated.
