  1. QUOTE (b-Rye @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 06:20 PM) BOTH Swish trades, Thome, Griffey trade, Rios Contract/Salary, Tony Pena, Horacio Ramirez, Vasquez (Maybe made playoffs last year with him instead of Colon/Contreras Crap Starts), That crap backup catcher we got last year... all I can think of recently.. Anyways I just don't like the direction this team's going in besides getting Peavy.. Once again proving you have no idea what you are talking about.
  2. QUOTE (b-Rye @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 05:35 PM) Another BAD trade. Besides getting CQ/Peavy when's the last time we made a decent trade. Getz is better than Teahen and will be cheaper, younger, for more years. Getz is faster, better OBP, Defense. We can't compete with Yankees/Angels/BoSox/Twins unless we get some REAL TALENT here not trading young talent for average players. CQ, Peavy, Floyd, Danks, Flowers,, I guess you can count Rios since we traded salary. So basically this year, last year, the year before.
  3. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 05:05 PM) Throw out the college stats, i'm not interested in metal bat fueled numbers. Getz's career minor league OBP is .362. Over two years in AA Getz put up .326 and .382 , In AAA .366. Averaging out Getz's OBP is the upper levels of the system we put his OBP around .350. Now, Getz put up a .324 OPB in the majors ,after dealing with a broken wrist which could just sap him of a lot of his strength and quickness. Now, given Getzs' complete lack of pop it's likely he will be pitched too rather then around. Allowing for major league improvement and an approach rather then a match of his minor league numbers, i'd suggest that .340 is very possible, if not probable. Can you please apply that same logic you just did to Nix's minor league line of .261 .332 .415
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 04:47 PM) since you keep pulling the whip out http://www.thebaseballcube.com/Players/G/Chris-Getz.shtml There are two years in his entire career including college that he had an OBP under .340, so your track record talk is a bit of nonsense crap, now that I look at it, Nix was all over the place http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/N/Jayson-Nix.shtml All we know from Nix's minor league career is that if you go to one of his games, there is a 60% chance he's going to strike out at least once that game.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 03:33 PM) Please don't let Northwestern ruin my Hawkeyes perfect season. Come on Iowa, lets play some great football this weekend so we can at least show up at Columbus undefeated. Too late, SI cover jinx is on.
  6. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 04:44 PM) Teahan has been getting his back strengthened out this offseason as well. Supposedly has had some lingering back spasms. If that was the case it would explain his second half KALAPSE
  7. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 04:29 PM) Ky, the whole fun of being a Sox fan is trying to figure out KW during the offseason. This is the time to make exaggerant predictions and get called stupid for it. Keep it light, and let the opinoins fly my man! Actually the whole fun of being a Sox fan is watching the team on the field and cheering them on.
  8. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 03:09 PM) I will miss Getzy, he's a hard worker and a baseball rat. He'll have a long career, I agree with the Grudzielanek comparison, but I'd say he's more like Blake DeWitt, Mike Fontenot or Ryan Theriot. I'll miss him too, he's the type of player everyone clamors for when we watch the big guys strike out with RISP with all we need is contact. He will kill us for years.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 03:02 PM) You could really rearrange things and move Beckham to SS if things get drastic Basically if Teahen isnt a starter than you have 2 guys that fill in for almost any position and COULD move someone like Becks or nix to SS and fill in Teahen if needed. That really leaves you with 3 guys on the bench you know could cover or help cover the entire field, Flowers, Kotsay and Teahen. All are avg or plus hitters.
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 02:58 PM) And ss Oh yeah, so no backup SS unless we use Nix.
  11. So with Teahen and Kotasy, we pretty much have backups for every position including catcher right?
  12. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 02:38 PM) I like this move, I love it if Teahen moves to 3rd, Ramirez back to 2B and Beckham to SS, then we go get another OF. Ramirez isnt moving to 2B. If anything Becks goes to 2B. Need to put that thought out of your head.
  13. Man trades make people say crazy things. Lead off Beckham, putting Rios in the 2-hole, getting Alex Gordon. We have many months ahead, I guarantee this is the first of many moves made this offseason. KW knows that his starting rotation needs some support and he also knows that a youth movement is coming with the leadership that players like Beckham brings.
  14. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 01:13 PM) Enough ISU talk, i bet the Kansas 2nd string team could beat ISU by 30. Hahaha. Out of all the teams we all discuss and root for in here, ISU has to be in the bottom 3.
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:25 AM) asking this completely neutral because I think it's basically a push, why do you think Getz is better? Defense? Because Nix HR potential makes up for his other flaws at the plate. Is it that it was done mostly against LHPs? That's a legit concern. Why is power such a big make up for not being able to hit the ball? He has alot of flaws at the plate and if he's on an island and not surrounded by a bunch of other power/k guys then maybe there is an argument. However, with the current makeup of the Sox, Getz is a much better fit, not only for SB's, but for contact rate and extending rally's to make other pitchers get more work. The good news is that Nix wont start anyway and he'll be mostly a sunday player.
  16. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:19 AM) I'll say it again Nix is a better player then Chris Getz. Mark Teahen is a better player then Chris Getz. CJ Retherford will likely be a better player then Chris Getz. It adds up to me as a net gain. Keep repeating it, but it doesnt make it true. Getz>Nix.
  17. Ugh, I still cant get over losing a player that has really been the type of guy we've wanted the club to develop for years, getting back a power and K guy. If this is the real replacement for Dye in RF then the money we are going to spend is going to be at 2B, 3B, DH or in the pen.
  18. I guess the org thinks alot of CJ, because I'm pretty sure they've seen Nix isnt the answer at 2B.
  19. f***, I love Getz, he's the type of player that we need, and will kill us for years. Dammit. I liked the trade at Fields.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 07:44 AM) I have a question for those who've done this. I'm not sure I can put a pull-up bar anywhere in my house. Is there any sort of substitute for that part or not really? The bands have an attachment that can close in a door and you can do lat pulldowns form the kneeling or sitting down position.
  21. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 12:54 PM) Ladd is my favorite player after Kane, so hopefully we can hang on to him. I'd trade him 10 times before I traded Steeger.
  22. Does anyone else read those Blue Ribbon reports? I just read the OSU one and it was all sunshine and candycanes, and I was wondering if they are all so positive.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 02:46 PM) I wanted to start with the hardest to kind of test myself and see where I'm at physically. I'm extremely sore today, but it's a great sore. I miss this feeling. Tonight I'm doing Cardio and Ab Ripper X. I've basically come to the conslusion that I'm going to do about 2 weeks of Pre90X to get into better overall shape, then start the program officially using the actual 90 day calendar. And thanks for the heart tip. Will have to get a monitor... That sounds like a good idea. I might try that next time if I'm struggling. I drank a bit too much water during the Plyo one, so that held me back. Also, I bought that Iron Gym pullup bar you recommended on Amazon. For $40 bucks, looks like a good deal. and I got free 1 day shipping so it'll be here tomorrow. With that pull-up bar you may want to stick some very basic pads behind the back of the bar that holds it in place just for the sake of your drywall. It has worked well for me so far. You will have to use a chair to make it through the workouts, but dont let that discourage you. Not many people can do 120 pull ups right away.
  24. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 02:15 PM) they dont need him, they are getting Brian Roberts and then Peavy
  25. I find it funny that almost all the rumors about Iwamura had him going to the Cubs.
