  1. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 02:24 PM) Span? Kubel? Cuddyer? Jason Kubel continues to be forgotten by casual baseball fans. He is a BEAST.
  2. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 02:22 PM) It's time to move on. He has become a role player without a position at this point. I hope this team has its' sights set a little higher. Exactly, if we are settling on Thome we are in deep trouble. He's in serious decline, is a terrible base clogger and really doesnt appear to fit on this team. Time to wish him a good retirement.
  3. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 01:47 PM) Gomez hit .229/.260/.354/.614 against the Sox last season. Career vs sox: .317 .344 .504 .848 20% of his career RBI's have come against the SOX
  4. QUOTE (joeynach @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 01:31 PM) This is a shock to me. Not the acquisition of Tehean, but the statement that we will play 3B. Bechkham was developing nice over there and now he has to go to 2B to learn a new position. If anything you would want to move Beckham to SS and Alexi to 2B wouldnt you. Plus you would think Tehean fits in much better rotating through the RF/DH role, allowing the sox to pursue figgins, hudson, or polanco for true defense and leadoff hitter. With him at 3B and saying Pods wont be back that basically means they have the RF/DH hole to fill with a leadoff hitter/obp guy, something that very tough to do. No, you wouldnt because Alexei is our best SS. Beckham's long term position was never going to be SS, and most projected him as the 2B for this team. Frankly he couldve gone forward at 3B, but now he is probably will he will stay for a long time.
  5. Did you guys see the story about who stopped this f***er? A female SWAT team police officer made an aggressive offensive move and stepped into the gunmen's fire for a gunfight, shot him 4 times and took a bullet herself. They said she probably saved several more casualties.
  6. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 01:06 PM) His career .331 obp isn't very appealing in the lead off spot. Correct, but at this point, maybe his plus defense and a little speed would be enough? I have no idea who we will be able to put in that spot from the FA market. I think the most important spot to fill is the DH at this point.
  7. Coco Crisp for CF and lead-off? Then we just need a power hitting DH. Slide Rios over to Rf or LF.
  8. Coco's option was decline, I'll take him to play CF and lead off, move Rios to RF.
  9. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 12:57 PM) Olivo as a backup catcher? Coco Crisp in CF? Thoughts? Flowers is our backup most likely.
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 12:49 PM) stupid Not if he's asking for 5 million a year for 2 years.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 12:36 PM) Watching a movie that she wants to watch isn't the end of the world. Its not like your giving up your favorite thing in the world to do. Big difference in.....going antiquing during an OSU (or in my case a Bears game) game and going out to a movie she wants to see on a Friday or Saturday night. I'm sure she'll end up sitting through far more of your type of movies (Shipps) than you sit through hers. I was just joking, but you do have to draw the line somewhere. Tyler Perry may be that line.
  12. Since PODS is not coming back our outfield has a hole, who will we fill it with?
  13. Good, you really arent worth that much PODS, at this point you should be glad SOMEONE gave you a chance since you were scrap heaped by two teams. The only concern I have is that this hurts our hottest wives chances.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 05:50 PM) way to go jordan. Pretty selfish move to cost your school the contract that supplies all its teams with their athletic gear cause you want to wear your daddys shoes. I'm sure Nike was so concerned whether or not a crappy player on a crappy conference USA team was wearing their shoes. Exactly, its his Dad's shoes, I would do the same thing he did. They lied to him and he called them on it.
  15. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 12:24 PM) Second this. If you fake like you like this stuff, she'll just assume/want you to go to more of it. It's like, "no honey, I dont need to watch 6 hours of college football on saturday, I would MUCH rather sit around at brunch with you and your girlfriends." No I f***ing dont, and I'll tell you that so you dont think thats the norm moving forward. This is what I do, and I will be doing this until I have grandkids standing in front of the TV.
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 12:19 PM) I could care less about a "leadoff hitter". I just want the OF and DH holes filled with the best players we can get. Then we can hash out who leads off once a game, which is a minor consideration. Dont underestimate the importance of a good leadoff and top of the order hitter. Both teams in the WS had that and the teams that moved on all had those players in place as well.
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 12:15 PM) Teahen in the IF is what made more sense anyway. And we'll have plus bats at SS and 2B (for their positions). Now its time to get the 3rd OF and DH positions taken care of. And I agree that the organization probably saw Viciedo and Morel and Retherford, and figured, if Teahen doesn't live up to talent, someone will be ready for 3B in 2011 anyway. This development, plus the cash, and I like this deal again. Just need to see how OF and DH play out. Starting rotation is solid, bullpen needs some slight re-working but not an overhaul. My only remaining concern with the players we have now, still, is defense. One good DH and a Leadoff hitter would go a long way for this lineup. One LHP in the pen and possibly another RHP and we could be set.
  18. Couple that white jersey with a white helmet and thats 1954.
  19. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 12:03 PM) J 4) I'd be interested in hearing the organization's long-term plans with 2B/3B. We got several interesting prospects in Retherford, Viceido and Morel to fill one of these spots eventually. Wherever Beckham plays this year should be a sign of which spot may be open in the future. However, a Figgins signing would fill this hole long-term and allow us to move Retherford and Morel to fill other needs. I don't see Viceido going anywhere. Worst case scenario, he's your future 1B or DH. Should be interesting to see what happens with these guys in the future. Your two deep for those positions is probably as of now 3B: 1. Teahen through 2011 2.Viciedo as soon as 2010 or 2011 3. Morel earliest 2011 2B 1.beckham 2.Nix 3.Retheford
  20. I wonder where "clubhouse leader" OCab will end up now. Add another team to your list buddy.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 11:59 AM) I seem to remember him being quite solid in 05' and 06' or something...I swear he was looking solid defensively when he started settling in with the Royals...I remember him robbing us all the time and Hawk talking about how good he was going to be... I wonder if being at a position consistently would bring him back to that level, who knows. I still view him as a utility guy.
  22. Beckham immediately becomes what alot of people on this board wanted him to be, an extremely valuable 2B. Defensively we should be ok, but I still think KW has something in mind for 3B.
  23. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 11:53 AM) In essence, they wasted a year with Beckham at 3B then. Some of his errors may have essentially cost us a chance at the playoffs, and now it's like we totally threw a season away. I hope this pays off. Are you kidding? The hitless wonders in the middle of the lineup cost us the playoffs, and a first round exit, not Beckham at all.
  24. OSU is wearing 1954 throwback uni's vs UM this year. IIRC they are white helmets and white jerseys. Should be interesting.
  25. New FSU uni's by Nike http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/471/fsuuniform.jpg
