  1. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 02:36 PM) two hit shutout for Washburn through 7 and he get's yanked. Don Whatamidoing strikes again
  2. same old s*** in here as usual. One thing though: BA is one of the worst baserunners on the team. He cant steal a base and has frequent brain farts. I like BA as much as the next guy, but its time to realize that his swing does not translate to the majors. He is a plus plus defensive CF'er and MAY be able to play in the NL every day, but on a contender, he is a 4th of'er.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 02:30 PM) GET even more nervous. Looks like MB might be victimized by a rain delay in the 3:00 or 3:15 p.m. frame....let's hope that doesn't happen. Still sunny here in the loop. And thats a terrible call.
  4. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 02:16 PM) Alexei actually is having a pretty nice year all of a sudden That BB he took yesterday made my eyes well up w/ pride Alexei is hitting .311 .370 .845 as the #2 hitter. As for his clutchness and baseball IQ RISP .314 .347 .882 RISP 2 outs .395 .425 1.109
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 02:06 PM) They have three above average hitters in their lineup - Ichiro, Branyan, Gutierrez. Too bad Wakamatsu puts Branyan in the two-spot. He needs to move to the 3rd or 4th spot. He doesn't make enough contact to be in the 2-hole. Plus, why is Junior batting 4th? He should bat 6th or 7th. Jose Lopez is also a really crappy 3 hitter. They could do better if their lineup was formatted a bit better. He's a terrible manager.
  6. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 02:04 PM) Agreed, but it's hard to complain about MB's change. Vastly underrated, IMO. I'd have to check the pitch tracking sites, but does MB get his highest % of swings and misses on his change? It sure seems that way sometimes. Oh im not complaining, he has one of the better changeup motions in the business and it dives away from righties. I just think that may be an adjustment he could make as he gets older.
  7. Upton is really have defensive brainfarts this series
  8. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 02:01 PM) That song has yet to get old. How about a leadoff double? Tried, just caught it off the end of the bat.
  9. Easy 1-2-3 for Mark. Has all his pitches working today. I'd actually like to see Mark start to learn how to make his change move both directions, right now his good claw change moves away from righties, I've seen Rich Harden move his both ways, i think that could be an interesting thing for Mark to try out.
  10. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 01:57 PM) Well, we've been told that some soreness will remain. No surprise. There will be a lot of finger-crossing between now and October, but every AB that he replaces BA or Wise is a humongous upgrade. Huge upgrade. he is so much more dangerous than those guys are. And Buehrle K's upton on a 15mph change.
  11. Kaz needs to sit down if he's having forearm tightness, that could be a bad inury waiting to happen.
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 01:48 PM) Wait are you guys serious? What happened to Q? Ran into the gap for a fly ball and limped and winced back to his spot.
  13. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 01:42 PM) I am sorry you still have him. Somehow I was able to get CC for him in a 4 player deal. I was hoping he would come back and get back into his groove for a second half push.
  14. Jayson Nix is batting .298 .349 .876 as a 2B this season in 20 games. Weird.
  15. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 01:37 PM) Jason Nix is just worthless. Our backups suck. I couldnt disagree more. He's a very good backup IF'er for what he is, a great defensive player with power. He's on pace for 25-30 hr's if he played everyday.
  16. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 01:28 PM) Where in MLB would Anderson go that he would be the starting CF? Seriously. Any team that he could go to, he would be in the exact same position he is here... A reserve outfielder waiting for a starter to get injured, so he'd get enough playing time to hopefully prove himself. You will hear responses from 2 camps on here. 1. Will agree with you 2. The other will blame his career on Ozzie.
  17. Sorry BA, you've played everyday for long stretches and still couldnt produce, I dont think its playing time as much as its your approach, your swing and your strike zone judgement. Be happy you can have a career as a 4th OF'er in the majors.
  18. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 01:32 PM) You gotta lay off that Gordo. It wasnt even close He knew it too. Easier to say it when watching it on TV.
  19. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 12:45 AM) Pryor for Heisman! fixed
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 05:30 AM) His fastball looked straight as an arrow. He was pretty much keeping it down all game, outside of the Burrell homer (I think Gross went down to get his). If he does that, he'll be relatively successful. I disagree on his pitches. I thought his fastball had some decent late sink on it, but his cutter needed some work.
