BECKGAME THREADHAM: CLE @ CWS, 7:11pm WCIU

im not sure why im this mad....objectively looking at our lineup...only two guys (Thome and Konerko) are above average major league hitters....frankly i was a huge chris getz fan at the start of the season...but if he's not getting on base at a .360 or so clip he's worthless -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 08:52 PM) Carrasco isn't going to bring you back much. Dotel and Jenks are the two relievers to look to deal. problem with Dotel is that at the deadline hed only have 2 months on his contract and you won't be able to get much for a guy like that...but who knows maybe omar minaya will be desperate enough with Putz out for a while -

QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 08:46 PM) Cy Pavano with 70 through 6. f***ing PATHETIC. Blow this s*** up actually if we are way out of it come trade deadline....we have alot of pieces that will look VERY attractive to other teams.... every team in the league is always looking for relief help and we have alot of it to deal...Konerko could look attractive to a team like the mets...and Jenks could be dealt for a huge package I would imagine...and i'd be ok with it as he's about to get really expensive and thornton could potentially close with Poreda maybe filling the late inning lefty reliever -

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 08:46 PM) are we the least fundamentally sound offense, and possibly the most flawed offense in all of baseball? well our leadoff hitter was available to all of baseball a month ago....our CF has a career obp south of .300 yet he manages to seemingly play 5-6 days a week....Rob Neyer actually wrote a great piece about us today/yesterday and hes exactly right...its ok to have 1 hole in your lineup...but not 3 or 4 -

Poreda with 7 Ks in 5.2 IP....unfortunately he's continued to be wild with 5 BB....hopefully his increased BBs this year is due to trying to get a hold of his offspeed stuff, cuz last year he had pretty good control...this year its been less than good -

danks command has been horrendous....when he was in his groove last year he could place his fastball and change at will -

energy and "thunder" and whatnot is caused by winning....the so called dead "corpseball" is caused by losing...not the other way around...not sure why so many people think otherwise though -
QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 06:11 PM) You are more than welcome to post in other threads as well, HM. especially with the george brett avatar....god i love that swing

QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 08:16 PM) Carlton was a better lhp. Glavine was up there too. Don't forget about Pedro Martinez when it comes to dominance too. i never really saw carlton...and id take johnson over glavine....i knew i was forgetting someone in regards to pedro....though he didnt accumulate as much as the other 3 did

plaxico would be a big target for cutler...his presence opens up deep for hester as they would certainly have to roll coverage to his side...The off the field stuff is concerning, but if its a 1 year deal i think you can live with it...clearly the giants did a year and a half ago...I think the football upside of adding a guy like Plax outweights the off field downside he brings....I think we are certainly super bowl contenders if we add him

How did Nate McLouth end up in Atlanta and not here?

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 07:28 PM) Any chance we'll see Danks before the year's out? it would surprise me if its before the rosters expand....after that its possible, but hed have to be added to the 40 man....i would doubt if he does before september, but if the guy keeps hitting the way he has who knows -
not much the guy hasn't accomplished...300 wins ....outside shot at 5000 Ks....Perfect game, no hitter in both leagues, Multiple Cy Youngs, World Series champ + MVP, 20 Ks (19 twice) 20 game winner 3 times...easily the best lefthander I've ever seen....quite arguably the best pitcher of this generation...clemens and maddux the only others in the conversation

Chicago Slayer vs. Oakland Athletic 6/4 Thread-1:05pm-CSN

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 02:41 PM) I'm just perplexed that once again we are completely shut down by a complete nobody. How are heads not rolling? Can't they fire some scouts? well to be fair Anderson was the third ranked pitching prospect in the majors this past offseason by baseball america....so he's not a complete nobody...nonetheless its very frustrating to be getting shutout by rookie after rookie -

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 02:01 PM) He has a great throwing arm i think he pitched a bit out of the bullpen in college at Arizona...i remember hearing he could hit 91 or so -

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 09:51 AM) I agree him wearing #1 would look silly. Give the kid 6. Six is good. I like six. maybe after the party you can stick around and sweep with me

that swisher trade continues to look worse...even if he did have a horrible may...he still has a .876 ops
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 10:40 PM) 1st one from that class to come anywhere close to this far right? no ryan perry and daniel schlereth have both played in the bigs
-
QUOTE (Reddy @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 10:28 PM) how is Slayer lame??? its just my opinion, but everyone who calls him slayer reminds me of George in the seinfeld episode where Dan Cortez plays Tony and George has his man crush on him
-
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 10:24 PM) We need to get his nickname into the mainstream. couldn't disagree more...that nickname is so lame
-
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 10:22 PM) Does this make Flowers our new #1 prospect or it is Poreda? IMO its flowers....i think he's much more likely to become a regular every day player than Poreda, and probably has a better shot at making an all star team...that said its my guess that the general pulse of soxtalk will say its Poreda
-
Rongey said he would start according to ozzie....probably at 3b or 2b....and probably batting 7 8 or 9...i think he'll play 3b with Josh at DH
-
any chance at all we see alexei in CF at least for a game or two to just see what we have there?

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 05:31 PM) I feel bad for Holmes. His sidekick dragged him down, he was making a lot of progress with his ME show, then he got his daytime slot with Hampton ME and Z was so good...i really really like Zaidman.....for football theres nobody better, and hes adequate with baseball
