danny mac by himself for that long doesn't seem wise if you ask me.... murph was unlistenable at times and was by far a huge dork who schtick got old after like 30 seconds....however I will say there were times when he had good baseball convo .....talked alot about +/- fielding with John Dewan, etc....too bad he was a horrible cubs homer and was brutal with eveyr other sport Looks like the Score peaks in the morning with Mully and Hanley...though now that hour overlap they had with Waddle and Silvy is gone...which is nice

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 02:53 PM) I saw it in Seymour Skinner's kitchen after a fine dinner of steamed hams... but they had grill marks on them -
im not gonna debate whether golf is a sport or not, but in terms of popularity/most recognizable I'd say its Tiger, and its not even close. If you showed my mom a headshot of Tiger (no cap on, not anything to give it away) she'd be able to tell you who it is in 2 seconds....Lebron in the same situation I doubt she would even get...My gut tells me that this is the same for most people who do not watch sports. I also think if you asked nonsports fans (and i mean really non sports fans, like my mom...who probably couldn't name a single player on any chicago sports team except for Cutler and Urlacher maybe) who Tiger Woods is...almost all would say he's the worlds best golfer. On the other hand, I think they would take a minute to think who Lebron is. Just my opinion though. Certainly alot of it has to do with 1.) the social implications of a multi-ethnic athlete in a predominantly white sport and 2.) the fact that Tiger has been around for 11 years and has reached the pinnacle of his sport, where as Lebron for 6 and has yet to reach the pinnacle

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 11:35 AM) Pence was the deal breaker that Kenny insisted be in the Garland deal, which is why it fell apart. It wouldn't surprise me if he was sniffing around a guy like that. bastard beat me to it
-
remember KW loved pence back in the day....IIRC when the astros traded hirsch and buccholz to the Rockies for Jennings the guy they really wanted was Garland and KW wanted Hirsch buccholz and Pence and the astros said no

Derrick Rose's High School Grades Were Altered

QUOTE (rangercal @ May 29, 2009 -> 01:08 AM) anyone dogging rose should just go back to their cubicles at their 9-5's and take some more orders from their respective bosses. Rose may not have a high IQ due to having the misfortune of a cps education in horrible low budgeted areas. Just be thankful you never had to go through a similar ordeal. While you are in your respective cubicles taking orders, let him show his gift to the world, basketball. That's all I really care about. oh ok...because he went through CPS and lived in a low budgeted area we should ignore the fact that he and Calipari cheated...i guess your morality can be compromised if you went to CPS ...nevermind the hundreds of other basketball players that have legitimately made it through CPS or others from other cities in similar dire circumstances.....We should also Sammy Sosa for using steroids because he grew up dirt poor.....but meanwhile I'll go sit in my cubicle and take orders from my boss since i didnt go through CPS -
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 27, 2009 -> 02:14 PM) And look who is #1 in the polls, Mrs. Pods. Lisa Dergan is simply one of the hottest women to ever live on this planet...sports chick or not

do people realize that Matt Cain is almost 2 years younger than Gavin Floyd? Yeah he's pitched in the NL and in a big park...but you know what? he's been healthy and at age 24 youd expect hes only gonna get better in his career. He's also been an innings eater, and his highest ERA in his career was a 4.15 when he was 21 years old. You don't get him and expect him to be an ace...but he's a solid #3 starter...if you ask me he's a younger, probably better javy vazquez

my top 10 1.) Beckham 2.) Flowers 3.) Poreda 4.) Danks 5.) Allen 6.) Viciedo 7.) Hudson 8.) Shelby 9.) Morel 10.) Carter

QUOTE (fathom @ May 22, 2009 -> 11:11 PM) Congrats LeBron, haven't seen a buzzer beater like that in a long time. its a shame that it was all set up by the dumbest f***ing rule in all of sports....just because you call a timeout you are allowed to advance the ball over half the court without time expiring?? so dumb

people always say michael pushed of byron russell.....watch the shove lebron gives Turkoglu
-
oh my lebron

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 22, 2009 -> 10:18 PM) OK, i'm impressed, they actually called a travel on Lebron in the last 1 minute of a game. yep, im surprised they made the right call......what a shot by Turkoglu....1 second left from the magic going home up 2-0....not looking good for lebron and the cavs

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 22, 2009 -> 09:04 PM) Khabi isn't even on the bench... Crawford is. That means Nik is hurt. That might just be the series folks. well its not like khabibulin had really been playing that well...but obviously it doesnt bode well.
-
sure would be nice to play these guys 16 times like the cubs.....
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 21, 2009 -> 05:41 PM) Usually on disappointing days for the White Sox (today qualifies, I'd say), the Cubs almost always win. It's like the baseball gods kicking me when I'm down. Go for the sweep Cards! dude i hope they get shut out again...because then i can tell all my homo cub fan friends (and you can tell all those ppl who texted you) that id way rather take 2 of 3 and lose the one game 20-1 than to get swept and score 1 run all series

so now that the peavy deal is off....are we gonna see Poreda take Gobbles spot soon? I would imagine so...even Hahn said he'd prefer to take it slow with him
-
so now that this thing is off......and despite what Hahn said...i gotta think Poreda will be in the pen sooner than later replacing gobble...right?

the javy deal is alot more acceptable than the swisher deal IMO I've publicly said here that people need to temper their enthusiasm about JorDanks, because he was still a 7th round pick that scouts had serious concerns over where his power went from his HS days, but I gotta admit...I'm starting to get pretty damn excited about this kid. He Ks alot, but he also has shown a great ability to get on base so far....hitting for high average and drawing a nice number of walks....23 in 150 ABs. I think he's got a shot at being a curtis granderson type player
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 21, 2009 -> 07:52 PM) If it makes anyone feel better, Beckham and JorDanks homered already today. its somewhat sad that i look forward to checking Barons box scores as much as i do

not going to blame the sox brass for not picking up that option....22 mil is a ton i will say that someone has to take some blame for designing a ballpark that has driven pitchers away from our team

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 21, 2009 -> 04:45 PM) f***ing Boers and Bernstein are gloating. the sun also came up in the east today and will set in the west
