  1. yep...especially if richard and poreda are gone ...that second lefty out of the pen is likely to loom very large the entire year...maybe whisler will be the next guy we try?
  2. btw if this thing does happen it better be quick enough for peavy to pitch saturday...because after todays game neither broadway nor carassco can start on saturday....
  3. Kalapse, alot of what was said in the SD paper was predicated on what Axelrod said when he talked to peavy yesterday afternoon...which was that peavy still preferred NL. We've heard from DeLuca that Peavy wants his option picked up...and now from ESPN radio that the sox are trying to rework the 22 mil to make it work and have sent their offer along to Jake. If you ask me this thing sounds like it could be getting closer. Seems like Peavy is willing to do it if the sox give him concessions (also a full NTC once he comes here) and the sox are trying to accommodate
  4. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 21, 2009 -> 02:29 PM) I wouldn't even care about that. Think how badass it would be to train your penguin then one day you're having a party and have your penguin walk in from the kitchen holding a tray or pitcher of something dressed in a waiter outfit. Jaws would drop and hilarity would ensue. kind of like in batman returns
  5. i wish i had a nickel for the number of outs pods makes on the bases.....
  6. i'm one of the only ones on the site...but im a big fan of lance broadway.....which isnt to say i think he's even #4 starter quality, but i definitely think there is a spot for him on this roster of course i say that as mauer tacks on another run
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ May 21, 2009 -> 01:29 PM) Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Even with Peavy, we still have a ton of holes. I really hope he declines this deal. fathom, you know as well as i do though that this deal wouldn't really be a deal for just 2009....it puts another stud pitcher at the top of KWs three year board....your 1-4 is basically set for the next 4 years, and you can work from there...especially if we can add one bat via free agency and develop another bat or two (beckham, flowers, allen, etc)
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 21, 2009 -> 12:34 PM) Why would Peavy be leery of USCF but love to pitch in Wrigley? It makes zero sense. well 1 out of 9 hitters isn't a pitcher in USCF, and the talent level in the AL is also higher, and USCF is a better hitters park than Wrigley is....so it makes some sense
  9. QUOTE (Sockin @ May 21, 2009 -> 12:29 PM) FWIW, Axelrod hasn't spoken to Peavy since yesterday afternoon. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/base...sox.trade.0200/ this is good news...then we can take what linebrink said and say that Peavy is probably mulling this over with his family and that is the hold up right now
  10. if this gets done tomorrow....id imagine there would be a day or two to review physicals and all that....so who would pitch on saturday?? Carassco?
  11. Morrisey said KW claimed had been working on a peavy deal for 11 months
  12. we better go extremely pitching heavy in this draft if this deal goes through....our minors will be barren of pitchers
  13. if we don't give up any of our position prospects ....i'll be pretty excited....unless its Poreda, Richard, Hudson and Infante...... Part of me thinks hudson could be in the deal, which is why its PTBNL because he, like beckham was drafted last year and can't be traded until 1 year after the draft, correct?
  14. QUOTE (watchtower41 @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:19 AM) What's the record for members on this board at one time and have we been anywhere close to breaking that record this morning? there were threads that moved like twice as fast as this one has
  15. pure speculation here.....but i wouldn't at all be surprised if the two mystery players are a guy who is major league ready but with limited upside (Nix, Getz, Anderson, Lillibridge) and a youngster in the low minors who is very raw with big upside (Infante)
  16. Peavy Buehrle Danks Floyd is a dangerous 1-4 if floyd ever gets his s*** together
  17. QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 21, 2009 -> 08:28 AM) Also Giles has a .166/.258/.241 line so far this season FWIW. you'd think that has to get better....even at his age he still sported a .400 obp last year...the guy gets on base and if he picks it up it wouldnt at all surprise me to see him leading off if he was to land here
  18. if somehow Dye is in the deal we better only be giving up one of Richard OR Poreda and those PTBNL better be toss ins
  19. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 21, 2009 -> 08:17 AM) Have we reached any consensus on the players? We talking CR/AP, Shelby, ETC. Or any of the premier offensive prospects? IF we're trading Richard and Poreda something tells me this organization really loves Dan Hudson, or it's all about Peavy which is badass in and of itself. if its poreda and richard, i'd have to guess that the PTBNLs would not be Beckham, Flowers, Viciedo, Danks,....i would guess one could in the class of Shelby, Retherford, Morel, etc. Its also possible one of Nix, Getz, Lillibridge go, or Anderson go.
  20. he hasn't hit for as much power as i expected (yet...and that big park may have something to do with it) but I feel like in all the Beckham/Poreda/Danks/Viciedo/Allen hype Tyler Flowers has gotten a bit lost in the shuffle....His OBP is currently .445
  21. i've dropped 20 lbs since about mid-februrary (still want to lose at least 20 more)...i've been in the situation you have and here is what i tell myself to keep myself disciplined.... I am now two years out of college. I'd much rather see myself as a nice looking, responsible professional, than a fat slob. Don't get me wrong...in college, i was ok with being the beer drinking pizza eating guy sitting on the couch watching football. But now, I tell myself its time to take some responsibility and be an adult about this....and i have my foot in my mouth a bit, as last night was at the Sox game and had a couple beers and a basket of fries in the bullpen sports bar. But in general with drinking, I try to follow these two rules...Booze only one night a week, and that one night should always be friday or saturday night. So when i pass by McDonalds at 9am thinking 2 Chicken Biscuits would be so good...I tell myself, its time to be a responsible adult about my eating habits and pass instead.
  22. coulda lost that one 8-2....felt like the hawks got their asses kicked but were still in it late....
  23. i got 8 of 10....i missed the stupid how many ways to get to 1st base one....and "A runner is on first with no outs. The batter hits a line drive that accidentally hits the runner, still standing on first, in the leg. The ball rolls to the first-baseman, who tags the bag. What’s the call?"......i should have known that one though
