if the cubs don't win the Central this year im not sure how anyone can justify Jim Hendry still having a job...hes been awful...he's signed a handful of albatross contracts (DLee Soriano) assembled a terrible bullpen with no real lefty, run the minor league system into the ground (its significantly worse than ours)
-
the series has definitely lost a bunch of luster for me. I still obviously love the white sox and despise the cubs...but I used to get like giddy and nervous on game days of cubs sox...don't get me wrong i still enjoy the series and am certainly glad they still play it...but if i had to miss a game (i actually have to this year for a dentist appointment) it won't be the end of the world, where as before I was stoked for like the 3 days leading up to it

kid looks to have a nice batting eye to go with all his tools...thats a tremendous sign

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 03:58 PM) It was a mix of thinking he was going to want top 2 round money and that he wasn't a top 2 round talent. It's some combination of that. He wanted more money (or was at least perceived to want more money) than some scouts/teams thought he was worth. yeah...it was a mix of danks potentially wanting big time money and scouts no longer thinking he was worth big time money since he didn't show the power at texas he did in high school ....

Cubs fans and Sox fans... not so different?
daa84 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
as a whole....if you surveyed the entire city...i believe it....i believe you won't find much demographic differnce between those who call themselves sox fans and those who call themselves cub fans... HOWEVER...i believe if you demographically polled the people who attend games...those stereotypes of blue collar vs. drunk frat boy will really show themselves -
haha a hell yes from hawk....wow hawk was really pumped there
-
buerhle now has more HR this year than Wise, Getz, Lillibridge, and Betemit have had all year
-
haha mark you are awesome
-
cubs fired their hitting coach...leaves me wondering when walker will go...but i get the feeling that won't be til ozzie goes...which likely won't be soon
-
btw i was at the game yesterday....really liked Miller Park... it certainly was way better than what i was expecting, i think because it just looks "meh" on tv....best non-PNC park i've been to...but i've only been to 6
-
it actually really bothers me that hawk is so critical of mcdowell, who i thought actually wrote an excellent blog post on beckham
-
haha hawk blasting mcdowell for saying ozzie hates beckham....what fantasy world are you living in hawk?
-
its unreal how many major league players drop the bat head....and im glad stoney is along this year to point it out...i feel like thats some thing you learn day 1 of high school baseball....don't drop the f***ing bat head and you won't pop it up
-
why does anyone believe that viciedo will have a moderate to good walk rate like andruw jones? he has 8 walks in 233 ABs and only 14 extra base hits....he has a .669 OPS...i know hes very young and raw and theres some more projectability there but if you ask me im considerably less excited about him than most here

Kyle bellamy was named a first team all american by baseball america..... didn't realize he had 63 Ks and only a .147 BAA in 46 innings... Also Bryan Smith at baseballprospectus was asked this.... btw Phegley was also a 3rd team all american

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 05:36 PM) I'm guessing you're a Brewers fan. I can't really tell from the skyline posted in your signature, though. I would hope you are, because that lineup is atrocious without Thome and Konerko. I like it from the standpoint of giving development time to our younger players, but honestly, this may be the worst of the season. The only saving grace is we're going up against Suppan. wait....you mean you don't like brian anderson batting 5th? -
i thought i would be impartial...but i found myself rooting for the twins...part of it has to do with the fact that so many ignorant cub fans b**** about how bad the AL Central is (and don't get me wrong, the ALC isn't good, but I personally feel its comparable to any NL division) ....and I'd love for nothing more than the twins (now 10-20 on the road) to go into Wrigley and sweep them to prove them wrong

QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 10:39 AM) No Quentin, Konerko or Thome in the lineup is going to make this lineup have to (gulp) manufacture runs. we face suppan, parra and looper in this series....even without those three guys we better score an ample amount of runs oh and btw konerko might play tonight -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 05:18 PM) would be a shame to pull the plug like KW is suggesting - can't blame him, though. Our offense shows no consistency. its pretty consistently bad if you ask me -

AJ swinging at the first pitch...imagine that quit bailing detroit out -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 04:19 PM) No one can hit Cubs pitching now. It's amazing how many low scoring games they're involved in. except for geoff blum
