  1. QUOTE (Scwible @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 11:08 AM) Good god, that kid eating the pizza rolls was breathing hard just talking. Maybe eating 40 Pizza rolls isn't such a grand idea. haha the best part is that he washes it down with a smirnoff ice
  2. i imagine he'll take owens spot after about a week or so
  3. im not really going to agree or disagree with anyone here, and for the record i am white, and this is probably a post for a different thread and different discussion, but i actually do think there is a subconscious difference in the way black/latin players are treated by fans vs. white players
  4. for all the talk about porcello....he had only 72 Ks in 125 IP in A ball last year....i mean he had a good ERA, but those Ks dont project all taht well
  5. the departures of crede and swisher really point out how the city felt about those guys...IMO crede got just tons of credit for being a below average player in his time here, and nobody got less credit for hitting 25 HR with a respectable OBP while playing adequate defense at a huge position of need than nick swisher....i mean even in crede's best season (2006) he wasn't THAT much better than the 1 season swisher was here...and in every other year crede was here, a legit arguement can be made that he was worse than swisher was last year
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 11:01 PM) Probably because they have Brandon Phillips ensconced at 2B already, and that's where a lot of teams were projecting Beckham. Now, he's (Beckham) certainly better than Gonzalez (SS), Encarnacion (3B) and whoever they have playing LF on any given day...so maybe they foresaw Alonso playing in LF? I don't know. One more thing about the game yesterday...James Adkins (Lookouts) was the Dodgers' #1 pick in 2007. and im positive beckham has faced adkins before as adkins was a tennessee guy and beckham a georgia bulldog i dont think beckham will develop as much power as longoria, even if gordon did hit more HR in college. also he wont be as good defensively, but hopefully he will be quicker on the bases, have a higher average and be able to stay at SS.....i really think ian kinsler is a good comparison
  7. im fine with owens being called up....hopefully he wont play much anyways, and he can PR off the bench...I wish it was kroeger i guess, but seeing as how he didnt play CF in ST im ok with it being owens...I just hope to god Ozzie doesnt play him more than 1 start in the 15 days Wise is out
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 03:09 PM) The only LH hitting OF on the Sox 40 man roster is Wise. The Sox have a couple of slots open on it, but they'd have to put Owens back on the 40 man to bring him up. pretty much anyone they bring up will have to be added to the 40 man, unless they bring up another IF and have lillibridge concentrate on CF...which i could see especially if nix comes back maybe?
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 03:09 PM) That was a solid 3-4 inches inside. the one to lillibridge looked in to me, but i thoguht the one to fields was a good strike right there
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 03:09 PM) This umpire kinda sucks. hes had a big zone all day though, so im not too upset about it....hes at least been consistently big
  11. apparently our guys dont like that fastball right down the middle with 2 strikes
  12. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 03:04 PM) BA has seen 8 pitches, all balls. He has 2 BB. dweezy hadnt had a walk this yaer or in spring training...i feel bad for a guy who was a career minor leaguer and finally got his shot, but i think this is gonna be for the better
  13. FIELDS! great pick at 3rd to get guillen on a smash
  14. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 02:58 PM) Wow, Wise is going to be out for a while, isn't he? probably....which is why its pretty important that lillibridge has the versatility to play CF....if its prolonged maybe alexei in CF and Gordo at SS? doubt it
  15. damn...polanco shoulda been out with a decent throw from alexei
  16. good ole country hard ball from thornton right there
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 02:48 PM) What happened in bottom of the 7th? DJ had a very easy, quick 1-2-3
  18. that was the right there brent....can't complain much about that
  19. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 02:27 PM) Whats the wae3ther like in Chicago today? about as cold and rainy as it can get without there being snow....cubs had an hour and half long rain delay
  20. thank you carlos guillen for lookin at strike 3 right down the middle can we hold on for 3 mroe innings?
  21. QUOTE (Soxpranos @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 02:23 PM) D.J. Carrasco belongs in the minors somewhere. this is true...he had that magic pixie dust somehow last year....but shame on any of us for actually thinkin it woudl last
