QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 08:01 PM) Jacobs walks. Gavin's laboring a bit. he hasn't had good command with his fastball at all today
-
gavin is up with his fastball and gettin hit....gotta keep it down
-
i dont really feel sorry for wise...he stinks, nothing more to it
-
so gavin was almost all fastball-change last time we saw him in spring...i haven't seen him throw a change yet...though he does have his curve working, and threw a nice slider to get olivo
-
stick with the offspeed gavin...damn
-
it took until game 3 for me to say it......but when brian moehler is the #3 starter, your team is pathetic...cubs are gonna absolutely run away with this division
-
man gavin was so consistent with his curve all spring...carried over in the first inning there good god brian moehler is terrible...only in the NL Central can he be a #3 starter
-
i think the jordan danks love needs to be cooled considerably....he was passed on 209 times in the draft last year....i know part of it was cuz of boras (who he then dropped)...but still he wasn't gonna be a top 2 round pick with a normal agent after a pretty mediocre career at texas....just my opinion, but i don't expect him to become much more than a 4th OFer

QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 12:35 PM) $4.75! Slight difference in taste, but they're very good. i had a hot dog and it was pretty darn good still.... i also had an italian sausage and was very disappointed in it...i have no clue if they still use the same ones as last year or not, but the italian i had wasnt as good as they have been in the past....they very well could use teh same ones, and i just got a bad one, i have no idea -
definitely gonna watch the sox and hawks tonight...lost will be on DVR waiting for me when the sox get over around 10

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 09:18 AM) Ramirez: better speed, better ability to make contact, bunt (although Josh did a nice job yesterday), not as selective at the plate...better ability to hit to the right side of the field (Josh has shown some signs here too), classic FB hitter Fields: higher OBP, decent speed, has to prove he has the bat speed (which is looking good so far) JOSH as #2 hitter in 2007=.230 .297 .500 .797 I don't think we can call a .297 OBP and .230 BA "raking," although his OBP was decent because of his SLG. my mistake...you are correct. he certainly did not rake in the 2 hole. i know you meant to say OPS instead of OBP though. Im certainly ok with Alexei in 2 hole as well. Really, I'm ok with either, as long as it means Dewayne Wise isn't getting the most amount ABs for our team

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 09:08 AM) I know he had a solid game yesterday, but do you really want a guy who is guaranteed to strike out like 150 times batting 2nd? sure why not...as long as his obp is there....with a high obp guy in front of him, at least K's keep you out of the DP, and usually give the guy on 1st a long enough AB to potentially try to swipe a bag....and fields raked when he hit 2nd in 2007...also even if the Ks were a concern he appears to have cut down on his Ks and has more focus on making contact edit: besides moving fields (who can actually hit) to 2nd, puts a guy who may strike out 120 times into the 2 hole, but also moves a guy in wise (who can't hit) and will also strike out 120 times, out of the 1 spot
-
getz fields quentin thome dye konerko AJ ramirez Anderson until beckham is ready...then getz fields quentin thome dye konerko AJ ramriez (CF) beckham (SS) then once beckham begins to rake he will gradually move up in the order and hopefulyl settle nicely in the 2 spot

QUOTE (striker62704 @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 09:00 AM) We won so stop whining. I'd rather have Wise go 0-4 and win then go 4-4 and we lose. Do you own his baseball card and that's why you are worried about his stats? no we are worried about him affecting the team in a negative fashion in the future, and with good reason....he has a career .254 obp...he was pretty bad last year at the plate, and is a bad CFer. He is projected to have a negative VORP. I think someone said his OPS+ was projected in the 40s or 50s. The guy isn't a good ballplayer and there is absolutely 0 reason for him to be leading off, let alone starting for a team that has division title aspirations. The fans were right to boo, as its as much of a message to ozzie and KW as it is to wise.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 12:07 PM) Cubs fans at work are trying to make fun of me for the Sox cancelling the home opener due to snow(i just dont get it, as if it makes them wimpy or something). I sent a few of them an article from way back in 2001 when the Cubs cancelled a game for the same reason, and strangely enough I get no reply. yeah i remember that day well...my high school game didnt get cancelled.....it was so unbearably cold...that was a day you didnt want to get jammed
