  1. QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Mar 20, 2009 -> 02:27 PM) wow...I jsut went skiing for the first time last weekend....I dont want to ski anymore...it seems like every year there is someone with some status that kills themself on skis.... RIP i just got back from my second big ski trip in colorado, and i would never in my life go without a helmet...being a beginner, i go pretty slow and people zoom by sometimes missing me by only a few feet...if i fall and one of these guys happens to hit me with his knee or ski or anything, you could easily have massive head trauma....just seems foolish to me to not wear a helmet, especially considering they are typically warmer than a ski hat
  2. tribune says ozzie is considering fields or anderson for leadoff as well...fields is an interesting candidate if he can get on base, im ok with it....i know he Ks a ton though...i still feel like getz is the best option
  3. not sure where he saw him...minor league game i suppose...but keith laws facebook status was just changed to...."Nate Jones, rhp, white sox, 92-98 mph and showed a ++ slider."
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 05:06 PM) Beckham struck out swinging. Enjoy Birmingham. he won't be there too long though
  5. earl is a moron. i took one of those 1 month may-term classes with him. The Mayterm is usually a joke, its just a way for the school to make a quick couple thousand bucks or two, and the classes are always really easy...its an easy A as long as you pay. They also fill those classes up with football players to help boost the GPA. The class was called "baseball in american life," and I will actually give Earl credit for participating in class discussion, but man is he really dumb
  6. what are the odds beckham walks us off?
  7. pretty impressive defensive play by macdougal
  8. macdougal ensuring he'll be one of the international leagues highest paid players this year
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 04:22 PM) I wonder if the Sox will make a push at signing El Duque to a minor league contract where they could assign him to Charlotte and make him feel comfortable and worse case he could get healthy and prove that he could come up and be an effective long guy. Probably not an overall good idea, but it would be nice to make sure that you have Viciedo comfortable. the kid speaks spanish...so its not a huge problem, like with the japenese guys where nobody else speaks the language...I would think a 19 year old kid from cuba would honestly be more comfortable with another spanish speaking 19 year old from a different latin country than with a 40 year old cuban man
  10. i agree with getz leading off and have been saying it for a while...i can live with ramirez in the two hole....i think by the end of the year fields might not be a horrible option, but you can't have two guys who in were in AAA a year ago leading off, so ramirez is the default candidate because i think he makes a bit more sense there than AJ
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 04:03 PM) Floyd has some nice movement on his fastball and what appears to be good pop. His big strikeout yacker is looking good but he hasn't been able to throw the curve for strikes much which is hurting him. Either way you can tell how much more confident he is on the mound. He looks in control, despite giving up a few runs. He's also pitching noticeably quicker. Still a slow delivery, but less time in between pitches. was just gonna say the same thing...even though he's given up a few runs, gavin looks really good stuff wise out there
  12. mosley's got some good stuff out there
  13. anyone who doesn't think steroids help...is just nuts
  14. figgins was sitting dead red on that fastball

    Poll of the Night

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 10:19 AM) BIG TIME, ONIONS! nothing beats send it in jerome! though
  16. i really like clayton as a 5th starter type of guy...i dont think he'll ever make an all star team or anything, but if you are looking for a youngster to do about what jason marquis did for the cubs the last 2 years, at about 1/14th the cost i think hes a solid option...he doesn't have the Ks youd like, but he has a really nice GB:FB ratio and a pretty low LD%, which has lead to an extremely low HR ratio.....hopefully the organization is right and Alexei is a GG calibur SS (i doubt it thoguh) and will help to take advantage of claytons strengths
  17. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 10:08 PM) John Salmons=Larry Hughes right guyz?!?1 well to be fair hughes has averaged 19.9 over his last 9 games (since taking over as a full time player) and Salmons has averaged 20.9

    WBC # 2

awesome finish...too bad i had to watch on my computer instead of watching it on espn...i guess the NIT would get more ratings
  19. getz will likely be the starter, but id prefer to see Nix on the bench than lillibridge, especially if Nix can play SS
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 16, 2009 -> 04:55 PM) Flowers looks clueless looking at strike 3 i was really high on flowers (and not on grass) and still am, but he sure hasn't looked like a guy who hit 12 bombs or whatever it was in the AFL
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 16, 2009 -> 04:54 PM) Getz not real happy about that swing. it was pretty ugly, which got me wondering what his minor league splits vs. lefties were....and he actually has hit lefties better in his career than righties
  22. viciedo definitely needs a bit of seasoning...
  23. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 16, 2009 -> 04:50 PM) Lillibridge's BB/K is now 1/13 after his 2 Ks today. People actually thought he was a candidate to leadoff? after seeing the sox play nix at SS today, i think lillibridge is destined for AAA...
  24. jayson nix in at SS...pretty interesting...if he can play well there i think he will certainly make the team over lillibridge
