  1. i hope by now the organization realizes that brent lillibridge can't hit
  2. do they intentionally make mlbtv s***ty during spring training?
  3. since when is corky miller able to hit?
  4. thats really encouraging to see from josh...back up the middle on the 2 strike fastball on the outside corner
  5. so colon looked pretty bad, he doesn't have the stuff to not locate....i imagine its mainly due to the fact that its his first time on the mound really, and that he'll figure it out, but he can't be the hard thrower he was early in his career....he's gonna have to pitch
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 16, 2009 -> 03:18 PM) How was Colon's velocity? How about the tilt on his off-speed stuff? threw almost all fastballs...no gun, but he doesn't look like hes throwing too hard....90-92 i'd guess...decent movement threw one nice back door breaking ball to either crisp or dejesus, cant remember his command isn't good he's missing high...looks like he has no feel for hte plate out there, but id expect a bit of that from his first outing
  7. 7th...While i like his power, alexei makes an awful lot of outs to keep him at the top of the order
  8. each fast food place has good things and bad things.... McD - chicken biscuits, any breakfast sandwich really, mcchicken, fries....not a huge fan of their burgers but not bad.... BK - love the onion rings and fries, breakfast - french toast sticks = awesome, i hate their chicken, burgers are ok Wendys - we had two within a mile of campus in college so i ate it alot, and wendys went from underrated to overrated IMO. fries are the worst of the big chains, burgers aren't very good. Spicy Chicken is still heavenly, nuggets are good and frostys will always be good White Castle - Love sliders. can only eat em about once a year though. bad fries though, but good onion rings http://www.sporcle.com/games/fastfood.php how many can you get? some i haven't even heard of
  9. anyone ever hear of rumble massage? its one of the community games available to download on Xbox 360 i guess...its like the #4 community game all time and they had a porn star "test" it out on G4......haha the guy who created it is one of my brothers buddies from school
  10. you're career isn't necessarily going to be limited to what you majored in. I have friends who majored in history and are in med school. I know a guy who majored in chemical engineering and now is working for Humana (not as an engineer)....no matter what major you chose, there are still plenty of different paths you can take. Virtually any major can apply and be accepted to many grad schools (MBA, JD, MD)...however there are prereqs that you will need to take regardless of your major
  11. would consider the following...Hanley (and seriously consider him in CF), Sizemore, Lincecum, Wright. Would choose Pujols...he's too good to pass. Plus Thome will be gone by years end.
  12. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Mar 11, 2009 -> 02:12 AM) All of this is really up to Getz. If Getz steps up and takes 2b/Leadoff then everything is answered: BA bats 9th and solidifies defense up the middle. IMO this is the most likely scenario, and one that I am ok with. Over the course of the year, should BA falter, and Beckham start to rake in the AA/AAA, something with the lineup may need to be addressed.
  13. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 11, 2009 -> 02:13 AM) I disagree. SS is, IMO, the hardest position in baseball. It's a totally different look from SS than it is 2B. i can certainly buy that. But the point remains the same that Ramirez likely won't improve by moving to SS. in response to the gregor article..man he is clueless. All 3 of the 2b base options would likely be an improvement defensively. Newspapers are so antiquated, but I guess they have to consider who their main revenue comes from (those who read the print versions).
  14. for a month, I want to see Anderson in CF, getz at 2b and ramirez at SS...if after a month beckham is ripping up the minors and Anderson is what Anderson is...I want to see Alexei in CF, beckham at SS and getz at 2b.... BTW I like Jayson Nix too. If he comes back healthy and rips the ball for the rest of ST like he did, Id be ok with him at 2b, but then I have no idea who will leadoff. My guess would be that ozzie goes with Dweezy. I really want no part of Brent Lillibirdge, as he was last seen putting up a .294 obp with a .344 slugging in AAA (Getz was .366 .448 and Nix was a robust .373 .591, which is honestly a HUGE slg). Frankly it seems like Lillibridge will fill the Juan Uribe role of providing good defense at the middle IF with limited on base ability, lots of Ks. However he will have less power, more speed and can probably play CF a bit EDIT I voted for trading for Mackowiak for each one, as I'm not yet sure exactly what the answer is, and I think we need to see more of the options considered in Spring training. For example, I'm not convinced that Kroeger can play CF, though I am intrigued by it, and I'm not convinced just yet that Betemit can't play SS...though early spring defense suggests otherwise. Both are things I would like to see more of as spring goes along
  15. i think people just see the name keith law and like to go after him, but IMO that is pretty astute analysis. I saw what he saw out of Poreda, inconsistent slider that wasn't quite there yet, but could be if he can gain consistency out of it. and he was very complimentary toward Viciedo given the fact that Law has been blasting him recently for his weight. I think articles like that are cool because it allows you to read the thoughts of a guy who has scouting experience. BTW he has seen Poreda on several occasions, most recently in the AFL oh and just from reading his blog and chats...he loves danks long term having said hes a legit 1 or 2 guy on most staffs
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 05:29 PM) Guillermo Mota got a suspension while a member of the Mets. Alex Sanchez was the first player suspended, he was a journeyman infielder. Link. yep it was mota...my mistake
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 07:51 PM) How could you possibly know that this is the case? You can't. I'm not happy with CF either, but he probably looked into other options. Can't know for sure, but, it makes ense. you are correct....i should have said he didnt address the position, but alot of the conjecture (and it may have just been words) from KW said he was happy with the guys we had there....either way it was a huge hole, and CF along with back up catcher are two spots im rather upset weren't addressed...simply because we dont even have major league calibur players at those positions IMO
  18. Duaner sanchez is another one of those "thank god that trade didn't go through" guys wasn't he also suspended for PEDs? or am i thinking about someone else
  19. QUOTE (tommy @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 05:13 PM) Maybe because he's a 'natural' shortstop? range at 2b and range at SS aren't much different, and making the switch to SS, his "natural" position likely won't help his range any
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 05:09 PM) I wouldn't say he necessarily "won" the starting CF position last year. He more backed into it by default. He started the first couple games there and then never really returned on a regular basis. And even the morning of the first game, when he was announced as the starter, was a surprise to most. He wasn't good out there last year, and he won't be good out there this year, especially after working at ss all offseason. And honestly, how can you not put your best defensive CF out there if you're going to have Dye and Quentin playing the wrong corner OF position? To me, it is a no-brainer. i'm definitely ok with brian in CF, as long is it keeps Dweezy and Owens off the field. But Alexei had only a handful of games in CF, and I don't at all remember him being "not good." Even if he was not good, I guess i'll im saying is why not just look at Alexei in CF during spring? just to see what we might have there....I don't really think it sets him back any. My big problem with brian is I have serious doubts whether he can really be a big league hitter. I think he has the power to hit 15-20 HR, but I also think he's going to end up being a .230 average, .280 obp type guy...
  21. QUOTE (Jimmywins1 @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 04:58 PM) According to UZR, Alexei had some serious range issues at 2B last year, his ability to play SS adequately has been concerning me all off-season. I wish more people here, and in the organization would realize this. then maybe Alexei would be looked at in CF a bit more
