  1. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 04:53 PM) The only leadoff type player who's FA eligible in '10 is Chone figgins. unless for some dumb reason crawfords option is not picked up
  2. melton breathing right into the microphone...haha this guy is absolutely brutal...
  3. every time ive seen viciedo it looks like his approach is up the middle-the other way...i like that
  4. man this pitcher is hanging a ton of his breaking balls and we haven't really been able to capitalize on em much
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 04:36 PM) Right, I thought I was the only one noticing it. I remember him having a quiet bat. http://www.baseball-intellect.com/Articles...kham-swing.html
  6. wow i can't remember too many 3-1 swings from carlos that looked like that one....
  7. QUOTE (scenario @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 04:33 PM) That's right. Didn't he take Price deep in his 1st two at-bats against him? yep and up to that point i believe price had only given up 1 HR as a pro (only gave up 2 or 3 as a senior in college) Beckham had a cookie there and he missed it
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 04:30 PM) Notes from the game already: Beckham is ridic Field's swing is totally different IMO. MUCH quicker with his wrists. Allen could be a good reserve, not sure he can hit lefties. Kroeger rakes. with the exception of david price
  9. beckham leading off...easy ground out to third on the first pitch
  10. any reason nix was pulled after just 1 AB? nice to see getz getting the hit
  11. i like sawyer the best, but locke and desmond are up there...i like jack too, but its too easy to root for hte good guy...I didn't care much for mr eko...i think ben is overrated on this site...he's a good character, but the creepy bad guy is an easy character IMO...the other characters have alot of depth and different levels to them IMO
  12. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Mar 2, 2009 -> 05:48 PM) Anyone else's feed shut down? yes
  13. betemit isn't a great defender, mainly cuz of his range (especially at short) but frankly throughout his career he has never really been that error prone and i think yesterday was basically just some mental lapses as part of ST.....at this point in his career you probably don't want him at SS, but if lillibridge doesn't make the team, you may have no other choice when alexei gets a day off....
  14. look i hated jay cutler during my vandy days....i went down just above the tunnel and booed him off the field once during halftime and yelled at him that we wanted the back up....but the guy is legit...with Cutler at QB Hester becomes eddie royal IMO, but probably a better deep threat...He forces throws at times and makes some mistakes, but i think he will cut that down as he matures....he has a HUGE arm, can fit the ball into tight spots, he can move in the pocket (his first two years in college he ran in an option offense)....if anything I gained respect for cutler as he has been in the NFL because he has called out that enormous twat phillip rivers....he also put up those numbers last year on a team that had no running game whatsoever...put cutler on the bears, and watch as forte runs crazy no longer facing 8 men in the box....
  15. just a f***in terrible loss....this team is so bad defensively its not even funny
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 27, 2009 -> 10:11 PM) Some notes here: http://scottmerkin.mlblogs.com/ wow jason schmidt is a name i havent heard in a long time
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 27, 2009 -> 11:40 PM) Merkin is usually not so effusive in his commentary, so high praise indeed. We seem to have a plethora of players that could end up at any one of 3-4 positions. Ramirez=SS, 2B, CF and possibly 3B Fields=3B, 1B, DH, LF Beckham=SS, 2B, 3B, LF, RF, DH Viciedo=3B, 1B, LF, RF, DH Lillibridge=SS, 2B, CF That gives KW a lot of versatility building the roster moving forward. Add in Flowers, Allen, Shelby (who can also play infield and outfield) and Jor. Danks and you have some interesting combinations. Based on all of that, I think Nix and/or Getz might end up being the loser (one of the two) as they are both less versatile. Getz could play 3B and maybe SS if he had to, but he doesn't have the type of bat for the corners and the arm/range for SS. The outfield fight with Owens, Anderson, Wise and possibly Kroeger will be very interesting and could down down to the last week of ST. I'll reserve my praise for Don Cooper at this point, but if Van Benschoten makes the club, that would be a pretty amazing turnaround for him. i doubt beckham becomes a corner OFer....if they move him out of the IF it will be to go to CF, but hes really valuable at 2b or SS
  18. owens grounds out....god i want him nowhere near this team...he has absolutely 0 ability to hit extra base hits (and thats not even debatable) and i have 0 confidence in him to get on base above a .320 clip...which would make him one of the worst players int he league
  19. flowers follows with a single...one last AB for owens
  20. john coutlangus pitching for the dbacks...couldn't have been easy growing up with that name
  21. QUOTE (ChesterCopperpot @ Feb 27, 2009 -> 05:49 PM) I would never vote for a DH. haha it just seems like every year konerko hits like .400+ in ST...i believe a few years ago he broke his own team record for ST average by hitting like .525
  22. Paul Konerko should be a first ballot unanimous selection for the spring training HOF
  23. i believe that is mark schlereth's kid pitching for the dbacks
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 27, 2009 -> 05:06 PM) Heres a small scouting report on VB http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/playe..._Van_Benschoten yeah hes really been hurt by injuries....as fathom hinted at he really should have been an OFer coming out of kent state...i believe he hit 35 HR as a senior (beckham led the country last year with 28)
