Seattle has a real chance to go unbeaten

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 4, 2014 -> 09:32 AM) I still am going to hang the McLellin pick on Lovie more than Emery. Lovie and Marinelli loved Shea and went to work him out a few times and met with him in Boise on his pro day. Emery shouldn't have let that affect his pick, he should have made his own, but he did. Emery's first draft was using the entire previous regimes scouts, and scouting process/system/reports/grades. This was widely publicized at the time of the first draft, im not entirely sure why this has been forgotten already. at the time of the 2012 draft, everybody said we had to realize that the draft was largely a product of the system Angelo had implemented, as Emery did not have time to institute his draft scheme. Much of the blame for that horrendous draft (shea, Hardin, Rodriguez, Frey, McCoy), as well as the credit for Alshon (though Emery was ultimately the one who traded up) should go to the previous regime. In my mind, I am grading Emery's drafts starting with 2013.

Raji out for the season... Nice
-
Vereen has yet to make a play in the first game and a half. Looks tentative

These flags are ridiculous

Long moving like a future LT out there. Just saying.

I don't think our regular season kick and punt returner is on the roster right now
-
Marshall and jeffery will be unstoppable if they call it this tight during the reg season. Shea and Boston have actually made some playa so far
-
So wait, why are two nfl teams practicing together? And what did they expect to happen other than fighting?
-
I put the over/under at 30 min after conclusion of this round before Phil starts politicking to be paired with Fowler at the ryder
-
5 tied for the lead right now. If this gets halted by darkness I'm going to be upset

Should be a great Sunday at Valhalla. One of the better Sunday leaderboards at a major in a while, certainly in 2014 as Watson, Kaymer and McIlroy all had relatively easy Sunday victoriees

Tony Stewart purposefully ran someone over?
daa84 replied to Steve9347's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I can't believe anyone thinks tony truly didn't see him and has zero culpability here. I'm certainly now a lawyer, and I'm even less of a nascar/racing fan, but assuming he miraculously avoids legal trouble, who will continue to sponsor this fool? The days of Ray Lewis getting away with things are over, and it's a new era with social media/ news coverage -
The us Ryder cup team is falling apart. Dufner, kuchar, woods, d Johnson.

Anthony Davis is just a monster

this was a terrible deadline to be sellers at. I don't know for sure and don't care enough to look it up, but it sure feels like so many more prominent players (especially pitchers) were available at this deadline than at most (Samardjiza, Lester, Lackey, Price, Lee, Hammels, peavy). The fact of the matter is that Danks is an over paid average pitcher who doesn't have the same stuff he had pre-surgery. Furthermore, who in the world is actually going to give us something of value for beckham? He has barely been better than replacement level for the better part of 5 seasons now - that is who he is. Viciedo, while still young, is another guy who has barely been above replacement. He's not even an average defender, let alone one whose defensive impact trumps his offensive shortcomings. As for Dunn, another example of a guy who you simply can't trot out to play the field in the middle of a pennant race. That limits him to the 14 remaining AL teams, many of which who have DHs, or NL teams looking for a pinch hitter, and who is going to give anything of value especially at Dunn's price for a pinch hitter? De Aza - really, do i even need to say anything? The only hope to get something resembling a decent return (i.e. at least 1 legitimate prospect) was to package ~3 of the guys above and pick up an enormous amount of the salary.
-
The real question is why did a smart organization like the A's actually think Hammel would be any good? He's 31 - the start to his year was obviously not who he has established himself as in his career. The cubs knew they couldn't get a top impact prospect for samardjiza alone so they smartly used Hammel as a sweetener.

Good noesi reminds me a bit of Freddy Garcia. If only we could get that more often than once a month

ill never forget after gwynn hit his 3000th hit, a reporter was interviewing him. They were talking about his habits and his dedication, as Gwynn was amongst the first video junkies - he had all his ABs on VHS tapes. He asked Gwynn how many of the hits he could recall (ie what type of hit it was, where it landed, who it was off of, what kind pitch/location), and Gwynn estimated about 2000. 2000! He was my favorite player ever that was not a white sox. I modeled my little league and high school game most off of him. Sad day. Also, speaks to the dangers of chewing tobacco. Wish there was more awareness around the game about it

i said i wouldn't be upset if they took any of the big 4, but i suppose that assumed that rodon or aiken were off the board by #3 - have to take rodon here- will be mad if we let the agent dictate the pick -

Rodon has to be the best of both worlds if there for the sox - #1 potential, and should be quick riser -
