  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 19, 2012 -> 08:43 AM) Even if the Sox had made the playoffs, they would have gotten their asses kicked in the first round. Their top three starters were DOA, their 1-4 hitters were hurt, and their closer was pretty much closed out. About the only guy that was really hot was Gavin Floyd, and maybe Alex Rios. That's it. I absolutely hate this form of thinking. Almost everyone on here said the same thing about the Tigers, "If they make it to the playoffs, they won't do anything . . ." Some teams step it up when the pressure is on. Apparently the Tigers can do it, St. Louis definitely can do it. Would the Sox? We can assume they would have been swept right out, but its silly to be so confident that they would've.
  2. I can see Toronto picking up Johnson and him hitting about 40 home runs. Seems like thats Toronto's thing to do, find a guy that no one wanted and play him everyday and he becomes a huge home run hitter. Its worked for them with Jose and Edwin . . . I wish the Sox would find offensive diamonds in the rough - Although Sox do a good job of finding pitching like that.
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 01:12 PM) He showed some real signs of putting it together at the plate the last month or two, and he's very good defensively. Also, the Sox have Carlos Sanchez behind him, though probably not quite ready yet. And the Sox have other more pressing needs to address, with a limited payroll. I'd say keep him starting, and if he flops in 2013, he can be replaced. Only issue I see with that is, didn't some say that before this season? "If he flops in 2012, we replace him." He shows flashes of being a decent hitting 2B and its enough to convince people that he MIGHT still work out. I hope he stays around and figures it out, but I would definitely be on the lookout for a more solid 2B. Of course, as stated, there aren't that many options out there and any that are available, are just as good as Beckham (or worse).
  4. I think you keep him, unless you believe there is something else out there. There aren't alternate options as cheap as he is, and maybe he is turning a corner and getting better. But I'm tired of his extended slumps, so I hope Hahn brings in someone who can contribute with the bat on a more consistent basis.
  5. Okay, thoughts. Root for Cabrera to win the Triple Crown or not? I'm torn because it hasn't been done in forever so it'd be cool - BUT, I live in Michigan and everyone is Tigers fans, so it would be pretty cool if he didn't, ha ha. Just wondering what everyone else thinks about it?
  6. Okay, feeling it . . . Sox win this one 6 - 4. Just a feeling . . .
  7. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 03:12 PM) 4-0 and we are facing some unknown with a 1-4 record and he is putting our guys down pretty easily with a minimum of pitches Its the 4th inning, man. Granted 4-0 sucks, but that doesn't mean the Sox bats won't put some numbers up. I'll wait till they play the rest of the game before calling this one over.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 03:05 PM) What's the score 8-0? Ha ha, thats great. Sounds like it when reading this thread. Plenty of time left in the game!
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 11:14 AM) Yeah, that then b**** about how boring a Fox broadcast is during the playoffs. Yea, or hearing Chris Berman in '05 against the Red Sox - "Oh no!" Although that was more them being homers for the Red Sox than being "professionals".
  10. Oh great, another thread where it will be pages of arguing that Hawk is great vs. Hawk is awful . . . I just take Hawk for what he is, he has some fun catch phrases and some awful catch phrases. All in all, he cheers for the Sox and has a good time announcing. As stated several dozen times in the other 50 threads about this same topic, he at least is entertaining which is more than I can say about a lot of other announcers in baseball.
  11. Wow, I only remember ONE Jerry Owens and Andy Gonzalez on the team . . . Where was I? Ha ha
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 04:30 PM) what part of "HE DOES NOT WANT TO PLAY FOR THE WHITE SOX" doesnt make sense to you? Let me put it in SOG format Ryansterski doesnt want to play for fly snazzysox Absolutely love this post.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 02:08 PM) How has he been doing? Is hit finally hitting? Geting regular at bats? There is this crazy new thing called the internet where you can look up information . . . Since joining the Indians he is 2 for 9 (.222), a run scored and a couple of strikeouts. With Boston he sucked. Kind of seems like 2011 was just a good year for a good guy . . . My guess is he will be in the minors for a few years, then be done with baseball altogether soon after.
  14. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 11:22 AM) Get BL back. They can have that new, old guy Rey O. New Youk, New Youk. Can we hire a translator for this person? I seriously don't ever know what the f*** he says.
