Ah, just go f*** yourself, ever-so-tenderly. Talking baseball with a passive-aggressive, anal-retentive, button-pusher who can't handle factual criticism and has to hide behind knee-jerk relativism as though we're debating the merits of Wagner vs. Puccini.....is futile. I am not southsideirish or JimH, that s*** doesn't fly with me. Nobody tried to invalidate your "psych evaluation" of "Andy" -- just stating that El Pettitte probably isn't worth having for the money he makes, given his 1998-2003 numbers, age, etc. Astros are about to find that out in that sandbox of theirs. I hope I am wrong about this because if I am right, Cubs will waltz into postseason even without Prior in April and May.

No s*** it's your opinion. It was YOU who expressed it afterall. Goes without saying. Just because it's an opinion doesn't make it fact check-proof or criticism-repellent. Many people share this POV that Pettite is this incredible stud/bargain. I am replying to that POV -- your post was just a convenient formulation thereof.

The last time we scored runs when they really mattered was in 2000, ancient history. In 01 and 02, Sox were WAY out of contention, so the offensive numbers were padded in pressure-free situations. In 2003, Sox finished in the bottom half of AL in runs scored. In short, the rumors of White Sox offensive potency have been greatly exaggerated. Starting from the 2nd half of 2000, in the last 3.5 years, Sox offense has been very, very average when the division was up for grabs. . We'd have to make the post-season in the first place. Look......back in '96-97, not only was Pettite GOOD, he was CHEAP. In the ensuing 6 seasons, he's been pretty unspectacular at an incresingly higher salary while playing under pitcher-friendly circumstances. I'll pass.

11-13 Mill a year for a 4.00 ERA pitcher who padded his stats by pitching in the spacious Yankee stadium, with an added psychological benefit of knowing that he could give up 6 ER and the Yankees offense could still give him the W? Thanks but no thanks. I'd rather have Washburn (5.5), Buerhle (3.5) and Shoenweiss (1.5) for that money.

Me too. Wagner as well. Jump by Pointer Sisters because of one short moment (kids dancing) in Love Actually trailer and the Egg Dancers in SNL/Donald Trump restaurant sketch. Basically everything in Boogie Nights. Pulp Fiction. Chungking Express. The Graduate and S&G. Thomas Crown Affair has two good songs, one by Wassap Diop. Birdy. Clockwork Orange. American Graffiti. Songcatcher. Come to think of it, proably half the stuff I like I got from the movies one way or another. Too many to list.

I have no idea why people thought Houston was the better team in NLC before Prior went down in March. Cubs were at least 5-6 games better talent-wise before Jesus went on DL and now they're even if he comes back in June. 41yo flamethrower Clemens not even sure if he wants to pitch anymore is NOT the equivalent of a 37yo soft-tosser Maddux just 1 year removed from a 2.50 ERA season. Pettite is not as good as Wood. Oswalt and his groin inflammation. Bagwell and his steroids. Biggio is old and can't play CF. Dotel doesn't have the mentality to fill in for Wagner. Miller couldn't carry Zambrano's jock. Etc. And Jim Hendry won't stand idly by and watch Mitre implode. He will get a decent starter to mitigate the Prior blow. Cubs have prospects and money to get just about anyone if need be. Hendry has shown with Juan Cruz that he wants to WIN now and won't stop at the cost. The only way Cubs don't make the playoffs is if Maddux, Zambrano, Alou, Borowski and Patterson have unexpectedly crappy seasons while Astros stay healthy all year long and Kent, Berkman, Hidalgo absolutely MASH. Let's all pray.

Well, if he said that, then it must be true..... Too bad pathetic, self-involved scumbags don't change...as a rule. He did go out on a high note.

I don't know what the ruckus is al 'bout. Sox are winning this division with a 7-8 game margin I promise. The pen will be fine. As long as Willie Harris is demoted by May and Sox get help at the ASB, we're going places.
-
Did someone actually try to make a case for Everett being a better CF than Patterson? That person should be sterilized.
-
He had 7 blown slaves (Chip Carey holla!) before the ASB last year. His fastball and breakers weren't good since the beginning of ST, and hsi control is not what it should be -- when you fall behind and allow Berroa and Beltran to sit on a pitch and you don't have your best stuff, you're DEAD. Marte pulled this s*** last year in KC as well. As did Gordon early on.

Talk about the power/aftermath of propaganda. Nearly 1000 people murdered every 30 minutes, mostly with machetes and rocks. Children' heads smashed on church walls, sometimes by their own family members. Etc. See the images. Listen to the testimonies of survivers. Watch UN General Dallaire's 1st person account of the horror, in particular his encounter with Evil Itself. The West failed is damn right. The whole world did.

I got terrible news this morning. My awesome grandmother Ksenya's heart stopped on Wed, the day of this movie's release. She was 98. Maybe she knew something. I am not going to see it. I am done.

Being gay is one of the pillars this country is founded on. Homosexuality = Greatness as well as superior hand-eye coordination. Who are you to tell CWSOX45 he can't be all he can be? I thought so. Putz.

Sometimes you got to access a player's talent (as subjective a task as it may be)and go out on the limb, projecting the future....instead of safely wallowing in the past. It was obvious that Prior was a 1st-ballot HOF'er in the making and I told you as much last off-season. Injuries can always derail one's career, so I figured that much was assumed. Wood is not as easy to predict as Prior because of the lack of control, but I would still take him and his unlimited potential over Buerhle if their salaries are anywhere close. ESPECIALLY with Mark being so damn HITTABLE in 2003 - his pitches didn't move much, his curve-ball all but disappeared and unlike 2001 when Mark crept up on everybody, batters were very comfortable laying off his slider and changes low-away.......4.20 ERA in one of the most pathetic-hitting divisions in the history of divisional play? Yep, that's our ace alright. Wood also has a reputation of a superstar and that puts fannies in seats and draws extra ratings, media attention and merchandise revenues. That alone is worth a mill or two if not more - how many converted Cub fan kids want to grow up and pitch like Kid K? Over the long run, that comes to a pretty penny.

I wonder what the relationship between early teen pregnancies and welfare royalty might be.... Unless chastity belts with a 21st century (electrical?) twist is the way to go. But if you wax wishful thinkingly long enough and coat it in sloganeering rhetoric, it might just become the case. Or not.

Deuchebag = douchebag of the decidedly Kraut descent. Momo, ya dig? Anyway, the love affair is over. I move to ban this trollerific tool.

And that relates to Wood how?

Cabaret had a nice lil number that pretty much sums it up.

Do the Scriptures specify her favorite position or if she was multi-orgasmic?

In any case, now we know why my hometown is #1 in the world in the amount of Bentleys and exotic sportscars.
