Jesus motherf*cking Christ......can someone please tell Jauggs that Tigers are still gonna lose 95-100+ games this year, now that Dmitri Young is done....And that Twins and Royals are STILL by far Sox' biggest worry.

I figured while Carlos shouldn't be counted on to do much against LHP, it's more mental than anything and figured to see an improvement from him. So far he has crushed LHP this season. Plus, a good breaking ball hitter like Frank needs Paulie's line-up protection less than a fastball hitter like Valentin who is VERY uncomfortable with the breaking ball against lefties after 20 years of switch-hitting. Moreover, since Konerko and Crede ocassionally use the opposite field, I thought you can do some imaginative things with Lee and Valentin on the basepaths and take away some of Konerko's GIDP. Crede should protect Paulie nicely. You can always drop Val into the 8th spot and re-arragne the Lee-Konerko-Crede order depending on who happends to be hotter against LHP at any given moment.

Who said anything about respect? It's all about snark and the pseudo-drama, baby I figured since you were into business/real estate, you'd appreciate the premise and the dynamic.

Mark Buehle's days of being an ace are over IMO. The league knows him too well and no longer chases that back door curve or slider low-in quite as much. He is still a good young pitcher, a 3.60-3.70 ERA type. Loaiza is someone you just can't project. Last year he was an ace. The rest fo his career - basically a solid #4. Garland? Come on -- he is a dumbass with no heart until proven otherwise. The good news is that this division is even worse than I thought. Even the Sox will have to try hard not to win it. But what do we do in the playoffs once we're matched up against the Carmines or the Yanks? Ok, if Koch is back then our bullpen is tolerable. If Krnny gets Roberts, outr hitting will be pretty good. All we're missing from being a LEGITIMATE WORLD SERIES CONTENDER is an ace. Over the full season, getting one is out of the question since Reiny won't pay. But at the trade deadline, having thrown in Ryan Wing-type prospects, there might be a team out there who will give up a Javier Vasquez type --- naturally at a prorated cost.

I had Sox winning the division with 90+ games this season. Optimist is damn right. E-lo wasn't particularly good. Neither was Buerhle. And yet both were still leaps and bounds better than Show today in terms of pitch quality and location. Deal with it.

How about.... (vs RHP) Valentin (2003 OBP close to .350 against righties) Lee (hits them better than lefties for some reason) Maggs Hurt Konerko Crede Alomar (hit them better than lefties as well) Rowand Uribe (vs LHP) Rowand (hits lefties, can run a little) Olivo (ditto....should see more fastball mistakes in front of boppers) Maggs Thomas Lee Valentin Konerko Crede Uribe Damn....Kenny, pick up Oriole Gm's phone.

Yes, something like that.

Are effin kidding me? Tigers will be lucky to win 65-70 games. Ditto for the Tribe. KC and Twins losing and looking like s*** is GREAT news. No, not to that degree. Vasquez was good. Sox made him look great. When he wasn't locating and was falling behind, Sox didn't capitalize -- selfishness and stupidity cost them once again. Nothing new here. It's been this way for 3.5 years now.

No, but they should have shared some of the pie with Russia and France and the rest of the badass thugz who run the world in the first place. Iraq is unsalvageable, but what's worse, US is unanimously hated through-out the world regardless of the outcome. In as we're getting closer and closer to the era of dirty bomb-happy urban warfare, losing the world's support/goodwill is a baaad idea.
-
But.....um.....we're the great liberators, everyone must love us!

Harris doesn't suck; Royce Klayton sucks. Harris is simply not a major leaguer. He is beyond suck. Agreed on Jose. He was Sox' best hitter/player this spring. Hit righties, hit lefties, hit for power, drove in runs, took walks, ran bases, committed zero errors, etc.......As soon as the season began, he decided he wants to be a clean-up hitter and basically swings at everything, it's pitiful. With this idiotic approach, pitchers won't throw another strike for the remainder of the season. If he doesn't shape up, Sox are in big trouble. Baltimore was willing to give Roberts for a prospect early in the season. KW is terrible. We should be 3-0 right now and instead we might be 1-6 going into home opener. The divsion could have been ours by the end of May. Damn.
-
Why? It was yet another example of Sox offense not being able to hit good pitching. We haven't since early 2000. Vasquez was good, but not great pitch-quality/location-wise. Sox hitters did a GREAT job jamming themselves, overswinging, etc. Pagin Greg f***in' Walker. We were promised Sox hitters would level the swings and would use the whole field this year.....Gimme..
-
Roberts. Roberts. Roberts. Roberts. Roberts. Roberts should have been in the Sox uniform yesterday. A huge failure on part of KW. Cannot be overstated. (against RHP) 1.Roberts 2.Valentin/Lee (gainst LHP) 1. Roberts 2. Rowand/Olivo

Twins Joe Mauer leaves game with sprained knee:
BrandoFan replied to CSF's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Tizzle, my nizzle..... I didn't single you out. Through your post I was replying to all of the momos who are dancing in the streets. It had little to do with you, but with the general sentiment re: injuries. We have a LOT of injuries our-bloody-selvces and 2001 was only a few seasons ago. I wish people wouldn't celebrate just yet. Baseball gods have a way of punishing the over-confident and the callous. Mauer is a big loss. Let's cross our fingers and hope we stay just a little heathier than KC and Minny because in the long run, it may very well be the difference bwteen going home ala 2003 and doing some damafge in the postseason ala the Marlins or Twins in 2002. -
Listen, whatever. If you think Show was anything BUT bad today pitch-quality-wise, more power to you. You'll first be one in line to b**** and moan when he invariably fails to get out of the 3rd inning against the Tigers. Without control and a solid change-up, he'll be hit very hard -- as he's been pretty much all of his lousy career, uncluding this spring.
-
You wouldn't call it "bad" because you're not thinking critically. Considering how much he pitched behind in the count, how many line-outs were hit by the Yankees and how many times Crede and Co bailed him out defensively......a more appropriate line would have been 3+ inn, 7 ER. Trust me, it was pure luck and luck abandons you more often than not.
-
The game was over in the 2nd when Rowand missed a 3-run homer. Vasquez looked PO'd when he gave up a single to Frank; he would have imploded had Aaron's drive made it over the fence. I've seen it happen a few times in Montreal where things snowballed the second Xavier didn't have things going his way. In any case....Shoenweiss was bad, that change-up is nowhere to be found. If we swing like we did today, Contreras will no-hit us.
-
Nice job breaking up the DP Jose. If you can't hit, at least do something positive.
-
You sound suprised. Why? When you have a bunch of greedy overswinging pull hitters who can't recognize a good breaking pitch and basically feast on mistakes......what else can they do against a good pitcher having a good day but FAIL? This has been like this for 3.5 years. Sure, we did creep up on the league in April-June of 2000, but since then the books has been out on Sox hitting tendencies. Never has such an average offense received so much hype. Who even remembers that we finished in the BOTTOM half in AL in runs score last year? And how much worse are we because we have Harris in place of Jimenez/Alomar who at least could hit a little?

Let's worry about OUR players, shall we? -Thomas and his age and back. -Awkward Lee looks like his limbs are about to fall off everytime he slides/dives -Rowand and his love for suicidal stunts -Valentin and his hamstrings -Olivo and his back (tweaked twice last year alone) -Alomar and his knees and age -Wright and his elbow -Koch and the disappearing velocity act -Politte and his recent DL-dom -Marte losing 2 mph off his fastball and break off slurve -Loaiza and stiffed neck -Konerko and his hip/back Be careful what you wish for. Keep on gloating. Next thing you know, half the squad is down ala 2001 and we're fighting for 3rd place. Don't anger baseball gods. -
Ridiculous. Bring on the salary cap.
-
No, it's 2nd half of 2000 as well as 2001, 2002 and 2003. And if Sox hitters don't start picking up on the spin earlier, managing the SZ better and shortening/leveling their swings....it will happen AGAIN. The book is out of every Sox hitter. Hell, outside of Ordonez and Crede, everyone is trying to pull off/uppercut the ball -- on 0-2/1-2 counts even! That makes it easier on all pitchers, let alone those we haven't seen before. Sometimes I wonder if Sox hitters do their home-work or just stroll up there with a see-n-hit approach.

for the only watchable/semi-compelling reality show in existence? An added bonus of The Passion of The Donald -- his golden flat, tw, etc. Will it be country bumpkin Troy who learned that fake Idaho aiksen' on the plane ride? Kuntrina? Assorama? That Princess Di lookalike Carolyn? I TIVO'd half a dozen eps that I missed, so don't spoil what happened.

Do not forget the Alamo, either. And the Titans.
