Damn Brits, so interchangeable. Who fronted Cream, then?
-
Is Scott Ian that dude whose goatee I always wanted to set on fire?
-
You make it sound like they are The Who or something..
-
I love film fodder! Highlander was cheesy, but for those who liked it, it doesn't get better than that forever Queen thing.
-
Agnus is considered to be one of rock's greatest lead guitarists. Still scratchin' me head over that one. I do like Bon Scott's bluesy vibefor some reason. Come to think of it, I find Brian Johnson's primal screams to be hilarious. Go figure.
-
I thought the true highlight of Highlander " was the Queen's...forever" part.
-
I am not sure what their dynamic was/is (the first time I heard of them was like 25 years after they broke up, lol), but I remember a few years back Howard Stern's little goon telling AG that he looked familiar and asking him if he ever played back-up to Paul Simon. His reaction was aobsolutely priceless. Also, Ali G's Art Deco/Art Garfunkel thing...LMAO.

All this talk about Queen's studio work. What about the time when Freddy BLEW everybody away at I think that AIDS live thing in Afrika?
-
He is a boy among infants. I mean, there's literally nobody out there. So I can very well see him as American Robbie. BoysNudo?
-
Well, he is a charismatic cutie with some comedic timing. Feels VERY comfortable performing on stage, an underrated quality. Hard worker, studies styles and techniques of performers past. I guess, compared with his N'Sync brethren, he IS a solid entertainer.

Michael Jackson used to be a peerlessly talented motherf***er, by pop standards anyway. Justin is just okay as a pop star. Nothing even remotely special. One step up from Lance Bass.
-
He's got something that passes for charisma in the pop world, I'll give him that. Was quite funny on SNL. Then again, so were McCain and Gore, lol/ Vocal talent? Are you freaking kidding me. Paper thin quasi-falcetto? Might work for auto-tuned N'Sync a capellas, but I am not impressed. The dude actually thinks he is a cross between Elton John and Stevie Wonder. The balls.

I thought I was their youngest fan!

The irony of course is that today's self-appointed style merchants have so very LITTLE of it-- just the self-conscious, graceless, lifeless eclectic corporate mess............Substance? They can't even do the 'shallow' thing right. Music? When an untalented poseur Justin Timberlake is your most committed and sensitive mainstream artist, you KNOW you're in f***ing trouble. (But the beautiful thing is, nobody can stop you from listening to S&G, Beattles, Zep, Stevie, etc. They come off even better in contrast with today's painful dreck. )

Phil Rogers talks Colon, Matsui, Konerko trade

Oh, it was absolutely GLORIOUS to witness the Cubbie historic meldown. Better than if they hadn't made the playoffs in the first plade. Well, almost. People don't realize how close Marlins were to a SWEEP, but if A-Gon fails to make one of the two defensive gems on Sosa in Game 1, it's over. Konerko-esque defensive futility, bad knees....but at under 15 Mill (not gonna happen), his ability to hit in clutch and drive in runs would be welcome. -
Sox Yanks get Sheff, who is as good as Maggs defensively and superior offensively, for 12.6 Mill, while Maggs, coming off a 99 RBI campaign, is reportedly looking for 14-15? WTF? It also means no Soriano for the Sox. KNowing Kenny, he'll probably get Odalis Perez and Izituris and be happy. Sad.

Yes, lets pay 10-12 Mill a year to what basically amounts to a 4.00-4.25 ERA pitcher in our ballpark when you adjust for the fact that he will be less effective without the Yankee offense backing him up and with mediocre Sox defense behind him. The man can pitch in the post-season, a very underrated distinction, BUT Sox probably won't get to postseason in the first place if we are going to continue to throw money around (5 Mill for Valentin, 12+ for Fatolo, 10+ for Pettite, 8+ for Ponson, etc.......all on the SUB-60 Mill budget) -
Now that the Simon & Garfunkel thread has officially confirmed the fact that some of you out there may indeed possess taste buds..... What about the Queen frontman? Yeay or nay?
-
Absolutely. I also can't imagine the two Godfathers with a different soundtrack. Or Barry Lyndon, for that matter. Requiem For a Dream. Once Upon the Time in the West. Pulp Fiction. American Beauty. Fargo. Chungking Express. Apocalypse Now. Clockwork Orange. Etc. Amadeus, too.

S&G got pretty far on accoustic guitars, didn't they? Probably could've pulled the power stuff that came after if they wished, lol I know the movie did not age very well, and it so powerfully spoke to a specific generation to which I do not belong.......but since I first seen it a few years back, I dunno, I've seen certain sequences like the fish-tank-bridge-zoo one countless times, mesmerized--and I think the above song plays no small part. On a related note, Mrs. Robinson got me started on (hopefully) a life-long, um, appreciation of older women. Ann Bancroft has a killer acting face, too.
