Not to sound like a Valley girl, but...everyone knows Mozart's greatest achievement is Requiem, especially, like, Lacrymossa. Duh! I am white and I think Em is a whiny poseur. An angelic trubadour, Shakespeare incarnate couldn't dream of having a line such as "This oppo'tunity comes once in a lifetime, yo" as his career highlight. It's simply too cool for school. Em to 50cent: "You're my favorite n*gger, too"

I too think he is very complacent and generally unintelligent/stubborn which can't be good any way you look at...I used to compare him to Manny Ramirez, but I was obviously wrong- Manny was a much more polished hitter at Carlos's age,. No, I think the apt comparison is Sammy Sosa pre-steroids. I am not saying that Carlos is quite as freeswinging as Sammy was but I thnk he won't mature until he is with another team and is close to being 30. And at least Sosa had an excuse of being a heck of a RF and a good base-stealer...Carlos needs to get on base and slug to the tune of 500+ to be of value to this team, plain and simpe The tools are definately there, only a blind man can;t see them. The problem lies in a typical CLee at bat: first pitch down the middle, no swing. Strike. Second pitch way low and out of the zone and big swing. Miss. Strike. Count 0-2 which means that now even medicore pitchers own you without having to come in and make a mistake...I think Carlos (along with many, many, many other non-All-Star players) can't read pitchers well, can't recognize the release point/rotation early, has poor knowledge of the strike zone and poor discpline in addition to flatout refusing to shorten his swing. As a result, no amount of batspeed, strenght or agility will bail you out if you don't have the former components. Carlos still needs work.
  3. No offense, but I think you're being a little thick right now..."Serbian letters"? WTF?
  4. Again, reading is a skill bro...there is a reason why I highlighted something in that quote of yours...
  5. No, I meant Kazaa "re-runs", duh...though I hear David Cross and Bob Odenkirk are still touring the cities...Ben Stiller Show ain't bad.

    KW...

You're forgetting about Willie Harris and Rios as well as Glover (ERA of under 2.50 as a reliever), not to mention dumping an injured Sirotka. And what about Feliz Diaz? HOWEVER, let's be honest: the Ritchiegate had single-handedly killed the 2001 (it's not KW's fault Jose, David Wells, Rauch and Hurt went down, though) season and a case could be made that he didn't do enough to shake the 2002 grossly underachieving team out it's year-long catatonic state...We also gave up a very good number 2-3 pitcher in Kip Wells and a very good 3-4 youngster in Josh Fogg..Sure if Rauch and Cotts are real deals and Colon and Diaz and Honel stays and Galrnad/Wright are vastly improved, we may not need those two guys...but still, there is no denying that trade was terrible. Other than that, he has been the best GM out there considering how much (or little) he has to work with. I know I may get some heat for saying this, but if Frank and David Wells and others don't get injured in 2001, I think we maybe have been talking about three (counting 2000) straight playoff appearances by now. I also know that Shueller was not as good as some considered him here.
  7. I also think City of God was the best movie I've seen in a year if you don't mind the subtitles or know Portugese...and that Mr. Show was actually a hilarious comedy show that I didn't even know existed before. It puts SNL to shame. "Which bring us to this juncture...just how many blow jobs can Congress give in a fiscal year"?
  8. Are you saying my version of the events is incorrect? Pray tell me where did I go wrong.
  9. Would you please refresh my memory. I vaguely recall you mentioning something about you and HSC getting absolutely wasted one time and hitting on DJ at which point he said "no, but thank you anyway" and gentelmanly drove both of you fillies home. Would it have killed you to call back and thank him for not leaving you to sleep on the sidewalk even though he ended up being late for the cancer charity event as a result? Am I remembering it right, Steff?
  10. You know what happens when you ASSume, right?

Dude, that's not entirely fair. Don' get me wrong, your stereotyping maybe fun and all...but it's just that. I never denied anyone (cssox included, though he did say I had a "s***ty music taste", no? He also basically accused me of being a jealous hater, lol) right to like anything they want and never considered myself to be all that smart. Heck, I am not college-educated, my IQ is probably about average, English not my first (or second) language and I am passionate about baseball. If anything I am Joe Average, but with a foreign twist (Having said that, I think Eminem is woefully overrated (at least with Britney and Co. you know exactly what are getting- a pre-packeged prima pop tart doubling as a whore-virgin eye-candy, I have no probs with that) for some of the reasons listed in other posts. I don't mind the non-adherence to 4th gade grammer rules or whatever...as much as the sheer lack of thematic, musical, lyrical and performative innovations or talent that's prevalent in rap and not only. Em was supposed to be like the Messiah of the art form, but frankly I am not seeing anything special, just a whiny, predictably "controversial", self-absorbed 30yo kid with 'ok' beats and unimaginative writing, not to mention his s***ty treatment of women and gays which only adds to the dislike. I could be very much in the wrong, it goes without saying. )

Cut it out with the maudlin (not to mention the non-sequitor-ishness of the question), it doesn't suit you. I don't know about "everyone" else, but nobody was higher on Lee in 1999-2001 than moi, and despite basically a full year of suckitude (second half 2001/first half 2002 when more Sox fans than ever turned on him, deservedly so) I continued to hype Lee for his new-found patience (60 walks in last 3+ months of the season) and defend him all.the.damn.time. even at the start of this season when he was like 2-15. Just ask Baggs and HSC , LOL Here's the list of players I have personally criticised (and, to be fair, prased at other junctures) more than Lee: Konerko, Rowand, Parque, Corey Patterson, Paul. Hell, I even commented on Frank's slow bat even though his overall production is so much better than Lee's has been for 3 weeks now. Would it really make you feel better if I and others had ripped Konerko as well even if his homer was much "cleaner"? Common, it would give you more fodder to accuse me of being overly negative (I guess 99 wins prediction was low-balling, lol)...How sweet would that be? You can also take your totally misguided "ridiculing" and stick it where the sun don't shine, mmkay? Just because you have nothing to contribute other than "he hit a Grandie, yay!" and haven't even f***ing seen the at bat in question doesn't mean you have some higher moral vantage-point to spew your passive-aggressive BS from. It's totally conceivable to--grasp!!!--truthfully acknowledge the ugliness/luckiness of Lee's homer, his approach and lack of accomplishments thus far...and still be overjoyed at the win and remain very positive on the future of the team/individual players. So for the record, I hope one Carlos Juan Ferreiro Penedo Guarron Lee will have the best 2003 EVAH!!!!!!
  13. Quit lying, there is no such thing as leadership, chemistry, on-field intangibles and clutch performance...that either directly affect the outcome or help in galvanizing the entire team. You are just jealous because you can't prove that Jose is better than Money Clayton...you with your fancy numbers and your, um, logic...
  14. Hey Mark Whiten hit 4 homers in a game, too...where is his parade?
  15. He has? I was under the impression that he was 1 for 3 with a triple and 2 walks (I could never quite understand why some people almost never pay attention to those, instead choosing to concentrate on more or less useless stats as batting avg. and home runs...) in a crucial game just the other night. His lone two outs came on shattered bats...I wish Joe Crede or Rowand would be this "cold", lol . 1) they say Jose has worked real hard on batting righty this off season 2) Jose and his legs need more consecutive days both offensively and defensively. 3) Beats me. Jimenez had a better game Wed. and I was surprised as anyone. In any case, Jose had a productive day with a double, walk, beautiful sac. bunt and a steal (well technically he advanced on a pitch in the dirt, but it's all the same). Nothing to complain if it helps his confidence, right?
  16. Back on topic: I've said many times that Jimenez did suck in San Diego for the most part and that his work ethic may end up being the difference between an All-Star player and a bench-warming bum. Howeve, I don't think anyone should be unhappy with his production so far, both offensively, defensively and on the base-paths. He had a slow start in KC, but since then (roughly last 10 games) he's been absolutely tearing it up. (Even better considering the sheer amont of tough outs he made during the stretch.) Are we forgetting that Ray Durham was reportedly asking for close to 8 Million a year before CBA agreement? That's more than Roberto Alomar/Shane Stewar money, but the difference is Mets can pay that sum and Sox can't. It's one thing to retain Frank for nostalgic/franchise reasons because there is always a chance he can have an MVP year...quite another Ray-Ray who IMO will never be as good as he was last year with us, career/contract year in other words. I am sorry but I'd rather have Colon re-signed and take my chances with D'Angelo and his 25yo, 300K a year self.
  17. I don't think anything is wrong with strike-outs per se. Sosa and even Thome will be HOF'ers and they K a bunch. Adam Dunn was only 22 and was on pace to 160 walks at some point, finishing with 130+. Wasn't his OBP actually higher than anyone on our team? Remember his power numbers are only going to get better as he matures and Ks wil go down. Unlike Russel Branyon or even Ritchie Sexton, he has an "eye" which can go a long way in the majors. Borchard? In light of Choi and Dunn's development, he has disappointed me so far. Yes, I am pretty patient overall (I am still waiting for Carlos to break out, lol), but so far he ain;t the Savior I thought he might be. To be honest, I feel much better when aging Frank at the plate than JoBo...so far.
  18. Oh abso-friggin'-lutely. It's not just the game in Detroit either- it's almost every loss this season and MANY losses in 2001 and 2002 (most agonizingly frustrating seasons I've experienced as a Sox fan; 1999 team had a worse record, but it was somehow more "fun" and fresh, I dunno). Remeber in 2000 it looked like every time the oppositon left the door slightly opened the Sox capitalized, doesn't matter who against or what inning they always brought that "run" in...whereas last few years it's all about bunts caught in the air, pop ups with less than 2 outs, hits into DPs, arguements with umpires, etc, etc, etc. I still can't figure out where the 2000 team succeded and this one failed cause we essencially have a better team now and 2001-02 teams were at least as good. Hell, maybe then Sox players were too young to realize the pressure or maybe their egos hadn't developed yet. Maybe a diffrent hitting coach. Something.
  19. What about Maggs in center? I wouldn't mind having Daubach's bat in there regularly as I tihnk he could be a Will Clark-type help but with moe power...that is if Willie Harris and Borchard are not ready and Rowand/Rios can't pull it off. As for Borchard, seeing how Choi is doing so well right now, my expectations of JoBo are that much higher. And, frankly, last year he looked overmatched.
  20. his OPS is absolutely rediculous 1200 and we know he can run bases and play D. I am as stunned as anyone else as I though he was less experienced but faster version of Singleton. If he could stay around close to 800 OPS-wise in AAA and continue to work on his eye and walks, he can be a solid major leaguer and a great 4th outfielder at worst. The question is, should he be promoted now that Rowand is sucking it up and Borchard not ready, or should we give Rios and maybe even Maggs (hell if Larry Walker, Austin Kearns, Lance Berkman who are all bigger than him can make the switch, why can't he?) a shot at CF? Discuss.

Hey, dude, don't you think it's mighty presumptious of you to assume that "I am not enjoying" today's victory? All I said that Lee's at bat was an ugly sight in response to some people practically orgasming, the same people who will and have called Lee a "bum" and worse just in the previous at bat... Are your expectations of this team that low now that you have to greet each homer with a bubbly? Does it even matter if I "enjoyed" 90% of the game and players and the outcome...but dared to say something bad about Lee midway through it? Stop b****ing back at you.

Thanks for obliging in telling me, among other things, just what makes Em so great and true. Much ado about nothing...and if Gothic is "overused", same goes for calling other people "pompous" when in fact they just have your number time in time out regardless of the topic. Bleh. Go in peace.
