  1. ' Nice try. Let the "doth protesting" commence...now.
  2. This would be perfect time for BMR to start accusing mods of being Nazis...don't give him any ideas.
  3. Yeah, and not crying about it on other boards or trolling for acceptance and reassurence either...imagine that!

    Don't you mean the Stonef***ers?
  6. Actually I've been banned from WSI for about year and a half, ask FWC. I haven't had time to use I-net until like March this year anyway...why? (Attention-span/memory challenged momo bmr actually thinks I am Jim. Let him enjoy his lil' fantasy)
  7. Any chance of Soxnet/WSI group outing, a field trip to the Cell or a game of tag football perhaps?
  8. witesoxfan, I love what you wrote under "interests" in your profile...welcome to the club, lol

    WHIP

That's why the single most important # for a pitcher is not avg-against or WHIP or ERA, but rather OPS-against. Mike Sirotka had a hell of a year in 2000 (if you consider just how many 4- and 5-out innings he had to pitch over with that atrocious defense and conservatively-estimated 18 unearned runs) but his 3.79 ERA and WHIP numbers didn't really reflect it. His slugging-against was 10th lowest in AL even though he gave up more hits than innings pitched. As far as Fogg (a very good #4 on most teams) goes, I havent followed him at all this season, but I think he wasn't very clutch this season and when he did allow runners on (WHIP), they tended to score more often...whereas Jon Garland's deceptively low 3.75 ERA in 2001 made for an impression that he was actually very good even though his WHIP was worse than it was in 2002 (not to mention the fact that he padded his stats out of the bullpen)
  11. I get this feeling that most regulars are, like, hanging out together at the games and s***. I feel like a stranger.
  12. My father's name is Anna.
  13. Did "Stephanie" tip you off?
  14. Hey I play fair and clean...unless it's you-know-who. Sorry if my comments offended anyone.
  15. The funniest part was when Kip reached 98mph on a 2-2 pitch, it was the first game in Pirates uniform that I saw...needless to say I fell out of my chair. Garland will never throw that hard because you need insane arm speed to get to that kind of velocity and John's renowned "smooth" delivery ensures that he will never throw faster 92-93 unless Cooper starts tweaking something big time. With all due respect, it was a question not a statement...motherf***er. They're too busy bombing abortion clinics, duh.
  16. Spoken like a true pot head
  17. Any one has a recording of his obscenity-ridden tirade? I'd love to hear what he said. Thanks.
  18. Especially when it comes to Soriano booting another easy grounder while making close to 10 mill a year (arbitration) next year
  19. OT: Last time I checked Kip has become a very good #2-3 pitcher and a co-ace of the Pirates. If you saw him reach 97 mph during one 12-pitch battle in the 7th inning (against Cubbie hitter I think) I would definately not call him a pussy. He was one, he is not anymore.
  20. I can't stand that apathetic-but-cocky look he has on his face, especially when things are going good. Is it true that he is a pot head? Girls nod your head if he is...And if so, he will never be the Joh Garland we saw in flashes because that s*** simply doesn't fly in the majors. Ask Caruso... I want him in the bullpen and if his stuff doesn't start shining through and if he doesn't turn the corner control-wise (one night he gets 5 pitches over for strikes, the next 1 or less)........send his Surfer Dude ass down and let him rot in AAA in he so wishes. I do NOT want him go to another team and pull a Kip Wells on us, and I have a feeling he will.
  21. I have never criticised Olivo since he was promoted for a reason even when he wenrt into 0-12 slump. (Same as with Crede last year when the latter started 5-for-30 and many Sox were ready to kill him) His eye is pretty good and the walks (when Paulie walks it's one thing, when a SB-threat Miguel is on base it's another altogether)will be there when he learns major league pitching, again the potential hitting for average/getting on base is definately there and he has excelled at that in Birmigham as well. He also has a nice level swing (Hawk said there is practically no angle to it which will allow him to hit pitcher's pitches and not pop them up like some other "power" hitters we have I could mention), with good batspeed, certainly better than Johnson's, Paul's and at least as good as Alomar's...But the best part is that Miguel knows (I don't mean "intellectually", but rather "instinctually") the value of hitting to the opposite field, something that only Maggs and maybe Jimenez do on consistent basis, and it will allow him if nothing else to avoid long slumps. If Lee and Koney could hit to the opposite field with authority, they would be 3-time All-Stars buy now... Give him 600 (as Crede can tell you noone comes into Bigs and dominates off the bat...unless he is Pujols) or so at bats and you'll will see what I meant when I said that Sox definately won the Bradford trade even though Chad has been a successful reliever for them for 2 years now.
  22. Sox having trouble against young pitchers is only superceded by the Sox having troubles against veteran pitchers...which in turn is overshadowed by the difficulties Sox have facing pitchers who don't fit into either category. Buy hey, we should be able to get 15 runs (also known as the Pad-a-Stat Day) tomorrow while th pitching shuts O's down...and then score 5 in the remaining two, effectively losing 2 out of 3. That's been the story of 2001-2003 season, anyway.
  23. HSC, you don't get it, it's an asshole's world--it's "either bean or get beaned" and Molina made his choice when he laced up the (oversized) jersey and stepped on the diamond. Molina was asking for it, standing like that only 40 feet from the batter's box...hey, who knows, he was probably having impure thoughts about poor Ben's mother.....so you can say it was self-defense on Christensen's part.
