  1. Willie is 3 for 24 against LHP this season (only 1 double) and has never shown ability to hit them. Left-handers VS. Guardado: 111 OBP, 080 Slugging Does that answer your uninformed question?
  2. He'll cool down, trust me. The way Orlando Cabrera and Renteria have colled down after a peak in 2003 and Aurillia - after a peak in 2000. But he is still a good player - mediocre stick and average baserunning, but his Defense is always an asset. Makes about 3 Mill per, which is a bargain price nowdays. He is the kind of a player you want to have in the #2 spot.
  3. With his inability to pick up the ball early (which all great hitters have to do) and his lame mechanics and lack of confidence......he could have Bonds's batspeed and still not hit over .260. Whatever he was doing in August-September of 2002, he is not doing now. His line-out to Boone was vintage Crede, M's caught a break. Unfortunately, his other at bats, including being blow away by an 88 mph fastball after going up 2-0 in the count, were UGLEEE. Get him a personal batting coach or something. Greg Walker is not getting through.
  4. Soriano is a below-average defensive player, is no longer a threat on the basepaths and is not hitting all that well in the #3 spot this year. Willie gets that OBP to .400+ and steals 20-25 bases by July 15th, he should be the one making the trip to Houston.
  5. Konerko was hitting nearly .400 with RISP coming into today, with decent D. and improved baserunning. He even cut down on his GIDP. Never been a big fan of his, but mentioning him in the same sentence as the worthless Perez is blasphemy. Boo-oo!
  6. Sometimes Ozzie makes no sense. It costs us games. Instead of throwing a fastball at his head, toss an empty juice carton. He was moving the ball around. Sox hate breaking balls away. One of those days.
  7. Frank and Paulie got greedy in the 8th and missed their pitches. the rest is history.
  8. Because he is in Ozzie's harem. And he is not caucasian. We've seen Harris and a slow-footed Valentin beat out force-outs to SS with nothing more than great jumps and good ol' HUSTLE! And here you got a supposed speedster in Timo who can't even make it to 2nd on a grounder on which a 3B had to make a DIVING CATCH. You literally have to TRY and f*** it up. Huge play, totally killed momentum. I've seen him dog it on pop-ups and grounders MANY times. On the last home stand, he hit a routine grounder to 3B, which the latter booted. Unfortunately, Timo Perez was practially walking to 1st and was thrown out. Etc. And I am not even gonna go into his lazy-ass fielding and making "spectacular" catches on plays that a good CF makes standing. I think this crap may become contageous. Sox don't need this loser on a team. That s*** may work in NY, but in Chicago we're actually trying to win. Edit: Outside of that meaningless HR with Sox up by 8 runs in the Metrodome, he's been absolutely BRUTAL against RHP.
  9. f*** 2 outs. Frank got aced and Carlos lined-out to LF. If Ozzie lets Valentin bat against LHP Guardado, he should be FIRED.
  10. 2-1 on Frank Frank goit greedy on a pitcher's pitch. foul ball 2-2
  11. Willie on with a walk. Uribe on with a walk. No outs. Frank up. If there is any weakness to Thomas's game this year, it is that in these late-game situations, he's been ineffective. Let's hope he is content with a double and doesn't try to lift the ball because it's a pop-up to 1B waiting to happen when he does that on a good fastball pitcher. Oh and....OZZIE, DO NOT LET VALENTIN BAT AGAINST A LEFTY WHEN YOU GOT ROWAND ON BENCH. JOSE REFUSES TO STOP PULLING THE BALL, SO HE MUST BE PUNISHED FOR IT.
  12. If he continues the nice, all-field forearm action, that OBP is gonna climb to .400. His D. is well above average. He does need to steal a TON of bases, but it's within reach. Belliard is gonna fade, Boone is off the juice and Soriano doesn't have the numbers this year, either defensively, running or even getting on base.
  13. Timo Perez = Lenny Harris sans pinch-hitting ability Timo = garbage, loser. If Sox are serio9us about winning, they would cut him RIGHT NOW.
  14. How the hell do you call BOTH Strike 1 and Strike 3? I tought if a pitch is 2 inches inside, it's usually called a 'ball'. Home umpriing. :headshake
  15. Between all the steals and pick-offs, it's doing more harm than good on most days. Nobody knows how to get a big lead. Mediocre timing. And all the botched hit and runs.......:puke Lee is 4 for 8 Uribe is 7 for 12 (3 cs and 2 pick offs) Olivo is 4 for 7 (2 and 1) Magglio 0 for 2 Thomas 0 for 1 Crede 0 for 1 Gload Timo Rowand (one of his steals was actually a botched run-down in Toronto) Willie is now 8 for 11 (2 and 1), so he should be the only Sox running unless a new instructor teaches these yoyos how and when to run. Something has to be done about this.
  16. People with a "ridiculously high" ceiling do not bat .240 with no power in A-ball. He's only 19? So were Pujols and Cabrera. Let's not nominate Sweeney the next Mantle just yet. Especially given that they're now talking about his "future" at 1B.......Hello, you have to put up Jim Thome/Pujols numbers to be a "great" 1B.
  17. No-hit no range little armed lollygaggin momo. How can you not beat that force-out??!! Totally killed the inning. It's not the first time he either got a s***ty read/jump or plain out dogged it. Put Rowand there - at least he's got heart and some talent. Timo stopped trying 2 years ago. He can't even hit righties anymore.!
  18. It's not just that, although that led to a then-GW run. It's Tyke Redman turning TWO singles into doubles (although he also had a nice play). It's Castillo mis-timing a dive and letting the ball go into outfield that scored a then-GW run in the 8th. It's Craig Wilson turning a line-out into a double. Jack Wilson error. Ward letting the pop-up fall in for a "double". Makowiak mistiming a dive and giving Barrert another "double". Stuff like that. Fortunately, Joe Koch-Borowski proved once again that if you have NO velocity, NO location and are giving up a lot of rocket line-drives, sooner or later, they're gonna start falling. Moises Alou saved his ass big-time by saving a double with a stretch dive, but then Pirates just T-d on him. Nobody has monopoly on luck in this game especially. :fthecubs
  19. my god, these rangeless, stone-handed, wrong-way-breaking f***s who can't even apply a tag in a rundown just gave the Cubs a win. :fyou :puke
  20. For the guys at least? I liked Nicole Kidman's line in Eyes Wide Shut....
  21. 420 OBP + big wheels = impressive Now....how is his defense?
  22. 1. I don't want to part with Crede. He is a shortened/leveled swing away from stardom. Will be cheap for a while, too. The good thing about Uribe is that he is a super-utility guy, but you don't want to put all them eggs in one basket. Good teams are deep. 2. Since when does a player who just signed a 15 Mill contract hit 8th in the line-up? Carlos is a #5 or #2 hitter, depending on how much Finley has left in the tank. 3. Guardado? Nah, if Sox can get Garcia and Finley without paying most of their salaries, they could live with a crazy combo of Politte-Marte-Shingo-Koch-Wunsch/Cotts. Hopefully Sox do so well in the next few months, that there aren't many 1-run leads for them to blow. .........Worst comes the worst, you can always put something together closer to July 30th deadline - or maybe even claim a good closer off waivers in August. Urbina, etc. Guardado is a Twin and I want no part of him if it can be avoided.
