  1. Does Seattle pick up half of the remaining money? I am glad Reed is not part of this trade. I'd rather give them Anderson than Borchard. Rowand has really dissappointed me in Oakland, so no big loss there. Rauch? He was a shadow of his 2000 (or even 2002) self on Saturday. Wouldn't get AA hitters out. Physical problems AND a head-case? Not a combo. Adios.
  2. Cocainorexia is fa-fa-fun. Whoever compared that man-faced Duff to the first-rate jailbait Lohan is kraazey. Hell, that newly-found gravity-defying ginormous boobiage alone puts her over the top. Of course they all got nuthin' on Emmy Rossum - hot AND talented? Rare.
  3. CW406 is not doing anything that you haven't done with Wright and Pacheco among others in the Perez thread - namely grossely misjudge their value to other teams. I personally couldn't care less what some scout hack projects Reed as. We've all seen the rate of success when it comes to such predictions - if only in the "Draft and Talent" thread. I think Brother Jeremiah still has good value even after the (I am sure wrist-related) power outage in AAA, and I do hope he becomes Mark Kotsay in one aspect - defense. Check that, if he could come up and do what Kotsay did in 2002 but with better SB-CS % (say, 16-4 as opposed to 11-9), then I and many other teams wouldn't mind the comparison. Which is not to say that he could net us Sheets or Sabathia - position players with good upside don't compare favorably with pitchers with actual track history of ML dominance. The latter are a more prized commodity. Otis? Loser. Agreed.
  4. Get in line kiddo, I am the prez of the 'f*** Fick' club. On Tuesdays, there's tuna. Little known Sick Fick Fact: as a Braves 1B, he fielded and hit SO BADLY, that in retrospect he was THE reason behind Cubs almost making it to the Series in 2003. In NLDS, he dropped a foul ball, he slipped while fielding a bunt, he dropped what would have been a big run-saving DP.....he struck out, he popped up with RISP, he hit into a huge momentum killing DP and had to be stopped at 3rd on another play cuz he read the ball wrong. By the time Bobby Cox realized what a worthless scumbag he was, Cubs were already up 2-1 in the series and it was too late. :fyou Robert
  5. The dude is, what, 46? So far this season: -900 OPS -21 RBI in just 70 at bats -plays good defense -can still take an extra base And all this considering he is struggling against LHP, which has been hi bread and butter in the last 3 years (.370 average). If he can get back on track against southpaws, that OPS jumps to 950 and RBI-per-AB ratio will be absolutely sick. Which makes me wonder how come Robbie Alomar was done when he turned 34, while this guy, Larkin, Biggio, Gwynn, Ripken and Henderson (circa 1999) can keep on plugging at 40+
  6. Nah, I think I wouldn't mind seeing D-Rays a few more times - say in place of the Cubs and the Red Sox series. Really bad team are really bad teams.
  7. Tue GoG: Uribe Wed GoG: Dransfelt (hon ment: Buerhle)
  8. AoG: Buerhle BoG: Thomas GoG: - - - - -
  9. Who will pay the remaining 4.8 Mill on Garcia's contract? JR refused to spend a penny over 52 Mill last year, and that was the year Sox hosted an All-Star game, a year that had special connection to 1983 and 1993. Sox are at 65 Mill now, reportedly 5 Mill over the budget. No spike in attendance. To say nothing of Steve Finley...
  10. I think for every Willie Harris, there are 5 Ryan Kohlmeiers. [/reformed Willie doubter]
  11. You got it, Killa. Billy Goat is better than he was last year, but still not good enough. Get that velocity back up to 97-98 mph, slider up to 90-91 and start buckling people with that curve. THEN....we'll talk. Koch and Konerko owe Sox fans if only as penance for 2003. Rick White, Rios and Daubach are no longer with the organization. Wright is done. Cotts is a rookie. They all get a pass. Kong and Botch don't. They must play at All-Star level and lead this team deep into postseason Simple as that. Btw, Cap.....I actually like Koch. He's a true competitor and a good precence in the clubhouse. His PITCHING on the other hand must improve even more.
  12. I am sure you're very much concerned about the longevity and health of homosexual "partnerships". That's why your heart-rate doubles at the mention of this subject. You care.

Oh yeah - I thought at the end he was the youngest 70yo I've ever seen. :puke I also remember the girl dancing in the forest like Dietrich or Shirley Temple, which is what they most likely showed in the nearest town's movie theater before the War. Stuff like that. Other things I think I blocked out. Have you seen Tarkovsky's Ivan's Childhood )(Ivanovo Detstvo)? It came out decades before Come and See (idi i smotri), deals with a similar theme, but it's done in a completely different style, just so unforgettably beautiful and poetic. It came way before Solaris, I think Tarkovsky's first film. I think they just relased a criterion DVD.
  14. Them two will pick up where Magglio left off.
  15. That's right, I personally give the scumbag POS that was half the reason (the other was Konerko) why Sox missed the playoffs in a very special 2003 season......one more chance. One more loss or a BS and I am afraid me and Billie Goat won't be friends anymore. Nope, can't do that. Sure it is. KC game. Both games in Baltimore, esp one with Uribe making that stop. Close calls to say the least. The bases loaded, 1-out situation against Cle at home - Sox ended up losing it anyway but at least Koch got out without any damage IIRC. The Oakland game. Opening day, of course. I am sure there were more, check the logs as I could be off a game here and there. He's actually had a chance to "pad" his stat'rinos more than a closer should. Koch has been far from what the 6.3 Million say he should be. Benitez and Foulke - that is what expected of Koch. You needn't call for other players' heads in an attempt to deflect. Almost everybody not named Uribe, Willie or Thomas were ripped apart many times so far this season.
  16. Well of course the offense crapped its pants in the clutch. That goes without saying. Rowand and Alomar and Kong and all. Dransfelt was basically picked off second when he turned an infield single by Uribe into an out. Etc. Ok, but how does that excuse Adkins failing in the first big game he's gotten to pitch in a while? And our closer..........Koch did get beat by 2 good swings. But I don't want him to get beat AT ALL in a 1-run game - getting beat by bloopers is what a 3-run lead is for. He's been DEEEPLY mediocre this year when you dig a little deeper into his stats, and only pure dumb luck kept him from blowing at least 2-3 more saves. That pitch Hattenberg turned around was shoulders-high inside 93mph heater. If it was 98 mph, Hattenberg is as good as dead. Billie says he can throw in high-90's if he wanted to.....Why didn't he? Is he stupid? Like I said, Billy Goat gets ONE MORE CHANCE to prove to everybody that he can be as good as Foulke or Rivera - that's who he is going to measure up against in the playoffs afterall. Uno.
  17. Losing Maggs, this is team is as susceptable to a patented Sox collapse as ever. Getting false sense of security, being 2 games up, would be downright idiotic in light of what we know of 2001-2003 teams. In retrospect, last year's team had a couple of similar moments of truth. Sticking with Kock, White and Paulie too long; the 5th starter debacle; failing to realize that Rios-Daubach plain didn't work; waiting til July to get Everett; etc. Kenny didn't bring his 'A' game as a GM in the 1st half of 2003 and it ended up costing us a season. I f***ing hope Sox learned from their mistakes. Twins won't hesitate to make a trade - they are only 2 games back, Mauer and Koskie just got back, Hunter was on DL, Stewart will be returning. Drew is cheap enough and producing too well that I can overlook his injury history. Unless of course he is signed past 2004 at a significant raise.....Finley makes 7 but with 3 months to go in the season and with prospects thrown in, D-Backs might pick up a mill or two, which means he won't cost that much. But of course Sox' biggest need is a FRONTLINE pitcher. Whoever said it would take pressure not only off the offense but off other pitchers in the rotation is damn right. Hell if Kenny swings Garcia and Finley/Drew, you could sort of maybe live with Koch-Marte-Shingo-Cotts in the BP.
  18. Ok I'll give one more chance.
  19. Do you see now why you don't pay the likes of Carlos Beltran 17 Mill a year over multiple years when you have a small/mid budget? One awkward swing or a bad slide or just general wear and tear....and that speed/range in OF are gone. Vlad and Griffey are other examples. Luckily Maggs was never about pure speed, so if it's indeed what they say it is, his game shouldn't suffer much if ar all. (Knock on wood)
  20. When KW gets that front-line starter and either Finley or Drew to play CF.,.......THEN you could breath a sigh of relief and say, "We be the best team in ALC, no ifs ands or buts" Magglio comes back in 4 weeks and all is well.
  21. The low-risk/high-reward picks he's made his name on in the last couple of years are all fine and dandy - and in fact necessary given the Sox' modest budget.......But now is the time to see what he is REALLY made of as a GM. A f*** up and the season can be lost. A successful move and the team wins 95-100 games, assuming Maggs comes back healthy around ASB. JD Drew makes only 4 Mill this year and is putting up better numbers than Maggs while playing in a pitcher-friendly park. Furthermore, he is just about the best fielding RF in the majors this season, and can do some things on the basepaths as well. This deal will be HARD to swing because Atlanta plans on being in it 'til the end, but Sox aren't in a position play it safe. Forget about the ace pitcher, that's beyond Kenny's ability or JR's wallet. How about either O. Perez or Garcia, I'll settle for either at this point. NOW, NOW, NOW. Incidentally, it's time for JR to put or shut up once and for all. Extra 10 Mill can get you Drew, Garcia and a premier closer from with 3 months remaining on the season.

Get out of here! Really? When he first comes back to the village and can't find anybody there , so he gets ready to leave as the girl is calling him, then accidentally looks back at the backside of the barn...... That s*** stays with you forever, eso when you're like 12. :puke
  23. Karma works like clockwork. Laugh about Prior and Grudz? Thomas and Valentin pull up lame. Make fun of Sosa's sneeze? Maggs's knee is f***ed.
