  1. Yeah by that lady who loved to eat. The song is ok, but that video of them on different platforms....And I generally have nothnig against 70's - or bad music for that matter. I've been known to rewind first 10 minutes of Carrie.
  2. I heard he batted like 450 and was one of the greatest college hitters of all time. But in the majors? Palmeiro he was not.
  3. To put it simply, Wood, Prior, Mddux, Clement and Zambrano are gonna crush Sox offense and their offense is gonbna beat up on the Sox pitching. 5-1 Cubs. Now let's get Garcia, Finley and hope Prior, Wood, Sosa, Clement, Alou all get f***ed up. Then Sox could beat up on the Cubs.

  5. Stop posturing. Tex b****-slapped you but good.
  6. Does he have lightening-fast reflexes and generate effortless batspeed? Does he have Wade Boggs's (prime) hand-eye coordination and cool? Or Thomas's eye and knowledge of the strike-zone? I hope your answers are as follows: "Yes" "Oh yes" "OMG....By cracky, yesiree!"
  7. Yeah, facing many pitchers who could never dream of the majors, while using aluminum bats. Had he hit 450, I would have been impressed. I want him to be Rolen/Glaus-type player just as I want Borchard to put up Dunn numbers. Color me uninpressed until Fields comes into rookie ball and hits 400 with power and gets on a fast track to the bigs. I want All-Stars, godamnit!!
  8. USSR was dying a slow economic death dating back to at least the late 60's. I have no idea where this "ending the Cold War" nonsense came from. Even Gorbachev can't take credit for it. As IF, with app 15,000 operatable nuclear and R-charged warheads and countless decoys spread all over the glorious vastness of Mother, people gave a s*** about Ronnie's threats or international pressure.
  9. Just be glad he didn't turn a 3-2 ALDS win into a 3-1 ALDS loss. Then again, the way he and White sabotaged 2003 season, he's done enough damage to last a lifetime.
  10. No kidding. It's one thing to have an arm weaker than Rolen or Glaus. It's another to say that a former QB will have to be MOVED because of his (weak) arm. I understand there arm speed and technique issues involved in football vs baseball, but does he really have a weak arm?
  11. Pirates were one of the better hitting teams on the road in NL. A couple of bloopers and a wind-blown 360-foot homer aside.....Prior, Zambrano and Maddux were untouchable. Clement had an unbelievable start and Wood is Wood. I hope they never get healthy and/or most players go through existential funks ala Konerko last year......Because if that teams is healthy, they are BY FAR the best team in NL, and a WS favorite. If Sox split the upcoming series 3-3, I would be happy.
  12. No, the real bottomline is your intellectual dishonesty and/or primitive understanding of baseball.
  13. KW's ego (and of course JR's outlook on life and business) will never allow him to become a good GM. For every "extra" win he nets you with Marte and Loaiza finds....he costs you 2 "extra" losses by insisting Koch, White, Wright, Cotts, Porzio, Rios, Daubach, Perez, Adkins take prominent roles, and (to a lesser extent) by running Wunsch and Foulke out of town. Garcia and Finley. These moves had to be made YESTERDAY, esp when it became known Maggs is toast. My god, is this organization trying to set new highs in short-sightness and cheapness with each passing year? Do they not care about the short- and long-term damage they have done and are doing to this franchise? :headshake :puke
  14. His last outing against the Cubs, he was slinging it at 93-95 and getting his breaking ball over. He looked like a good #3. Cubs scored 3 runs, but it was off a reliever and only after Simon threw the ball away with bases loaded. But Benson is as schitzophrenic as Danny Wright was in 2002. To give Reed for him would be insane - unless Sox think the wrist injury will become chronic.
  15. Remembr what Kenny Lofton was able to do for the Giants and Cubs in 2002 and 2003? And he was already 36-37yo.
  16. Look..... Pre-roid Bonds = 420 OBP, 580 Slugging, 1st ballot HOF Post-roid Bonds = 600 OBP, 800 Slug, 1st ballot Mount Olympus Only dopes didn't suspect anything in 1999. But in subsequent years, after all the evidence, physiological and pharmaceutical, to keep one's head in the sand must take a huge, lemmingian effort. I love the moronic "steroids don't improve your eyesight" defense. First of all, they do actually improve your sight when you get into your 40's. Secondly, they allow an already superbly talented, HOF player see the ball at least 2 feet longer without the normal reprecussions of being tardy courtesy of increased strenght and quickness/reaction time......And all that not even considering the recovery time and confidence benefits, something a 40yo slugger desperately needs. Of course his walks are WAY up. Most of them are of unintentional intentional variety. You bring up Aaron. See his body type and swing on ESPN Klassic or some compilation DVD some time.

  18. The progression and descent of this thread into awesome misery is hilarious! Comedy gold.

  20. Do you think Sandy would have thrown them out? Let it beeee, let it be.....
  21. Hey I can't say I wasn't open-minded - I gave him one last chance.
  22. Very well motherf***er, how many left-handed batters hit a HR off Wunsch in the regular season in, say, the last 7 months? 1? 5? Take a sit.
