I hereby pledge eternal allegiance to El Duderino....

Nice song. When will J-Lo do a cover I wonder? :puke

Of course it can -- 2003 team had no 5th starter and still made postseason. Oh wait..... Munoz and Diaz are performing miracles right now and Rauch/Cotts are getting restless. They may not succeed, but at least it's worth a shot.

Contrary to the popular belief, a fielder's job is NOT to avoid errors, but to save as many bases as possible. Guerrero has had more range and a stronger arm than Magglio for at least 2 years now. He's averaged a few more errors, but he also prevented more runners from reaching on/advancing. He may not be a much better defensive player than Magglio, but he is better. If Vlad is a 14-15 Mill a year player in today's market, Magglio is 12-13. Too bad Sox can't pay that either, unless a bunch of it is back-loaded and deferred. Which is not gonna happen. I don't blame Maggs here. I file it under "that's life".

Can we please do something about those huge, ugly-ass billboard signs? Anything is better in their place, especially if "anything" is something refreshingly inventive and architecturally magnificent.

7-3 0-1 Guess what it stands for?

How about we save the "unlimited potential" spiel for the likes of Miguel Cabrera and Rich Harden? Vad'ysai?

It's about adolescence, with the 70's as a backdrop. What would you know about that, kiddo?

Ah the Dali eye......Hell, let's break out In the Realm of the Senses sig :puke

Good movie. Nothing special, just solid, quality stuff, Sophia mis-interpreting the point of the book notwithstanding. While not as gut-wrenching as Requiem for a Dream, it's not exactly a date movie. Magic Man is put to good use here as is Air Playground Lover.

Look, most reasonable people here understand the media dynamic. Nobody suggests Frank hunted anyone down just to make that comment. That still doesn't mean his asnwers are impervious to criticism. That still doesn't change the fact that he is not worth anywhere near the amount he is looking for -- when you use words like "disrespect" publicly, you're clearly not even close to being happy with your 6 Mill today and 8 Mill tomorrow. Compounded by his HISTORY of putting foot in mouth. Frank is not Mike Tyson -- he is actually sane and smart, so he is judged by a different standard, by me anyway. I was one of the suckers who thought Frank really has changed. Oh well.

What Hawk and others don't get is this: What are Billy Koch, Danny Wright, Shingo Takatsu and even Garland supposed to do if they are facing an outstanding hitter who's seen them twice already that day and the count is 3-0/3-1? Groove a batting practice pitch or three? There is a reason why these people nibble and fall behind all the time: they have poor command and tip their pitches, so when they do get the plate, it's usually hammered by good hitters. Lead-off walk can be erased by a DP, a pick-off or simply pitched over. A lead-off homer, in most cases, can't be. I understand that you're playing with fire when you put a runner on base any time, let alone with no outs.....but consider the alternative.

No kidding. Why did Lugo and Crawford take him deep? 88-89mph fastballs in their wheelhouse while ahead in the count, that's why. Haven't we learned this with Gary Glover?

Jose was fielding and hitting well on the home stand, esp against the same lefties who used to overpower him in KC just a week ago. He was clearly gaining steam. Why the f*** did Ozzie take him out of the line-up against a righty and mess with his timing? I've seen enough of this s*** back in 2001 -- Manos would got 2-for-4 with a HR and would sit the next 2 days (with a day off) in favor of that rangeless, armless wonder Clayton who was batting .150 with no power at the time. Uribe should be in the line-up, I agree....at 2B. Barring an injury, Manos will be on this team for another couple of years until Valido is ready. After this year, if the team is competitive, they'll re-sign him for 2/4-type contract and all will be well. Why would he take only 1.5-2 Mill per season? For the same reason Frank Thomas took 5-6 Mill -- the market won't pay more.

Wright has an ERA is 6.60+ The league average is 4.50 give or take. Do the damn math. When he last pitched, his ass was saved by his D and pure, unadulterated dumb luck. And that still didn't prevent him from sucking badly. His strategy? Throw pitches a foot outside, fall behind 2-0/3-1, and then groove a batting practice fastball or a get-me-over change. This s*** wouldn't fly in single-A You asked why Wright and not Buerhle/Garland......Both Mark and Judy had phenomenal starts in the Yankee stadium and in KC. That earned them some good will as far as I am concerned. Buehle is a good pitcher. Garland is a mediocre pitcher. At least they belong in the majors. Wright is terrible and has always been bad -- outside of the tail-end of 2002 when he was solid. If Wrong goes 4-0 with a 3.00 ERA in the next 4 games, it'll be great, I'll have plenty of praise for him. Just don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen.

Most if not all of his errors come on routine plays. He gets arrogant and complacent with the mechanics, focus wanes...and BOOM the ball is in the stands. The amazing thing is, with 4 errors already, his adjusted Zone Rating is 5th highest of all SS, which means he already made 2 more plays than an average SS. Also, 4th in DP efficiency, although after tonight, it should drop back to the middle of the pack. Last April had 7 errors, in less games. After that s***ty start, basically played GG-caliber defense. Hopefully he repeats that again this year. Certainly looked better in ST (errorless) than this I must say. Uribe is playing like baby Berroa. That's why God made 2B.

7 inn/1 ER refers to what I want Loaiza to do to D-Rays tomorrow. Time for ace to start acing people. Also....put away the Wright knee pads. He should thank God his ERA is only 6.50. Sooner or later, those liners are gonna start going to the wall. But I digress. Anyway, I noticed I mispelled the title. But even a rube like myself can't mispell that f***ing W Scott gave the Sox today.

As momentum-stopping as that scumbag Wright was on Fri....Show was just as bear-down, team-inspiring clutch today. Coming into this game, it was clear Sox wouldn't swing bats well enough to score more than 3-4 runs tops as they clearly lost that first-week intensity....And yet Show doesn't make excuses and basically shut a solid D-Ray squad down cold. Now the team is back to 7-4, it's time for E-Lo to step up and prove to everybody why he should receive a contract extention in the off-season. I'll take 7 inn. 1 ER.

Hawk shouldn't be as PO'd when Danny or Jony issue a 3-1 walk to Sweeney and others because the alternative is batting practice get me over pitch. I wonder what percentage of lead-off homers end up scoring....

UD ticket is what, 10 bucks. Parking/L. Eat before the game. Sneak a drink/snack in, easy as hell. You don't have to spend $300 every time to enjoy a ballgame. Sure, 2-3 outings a summer with friends and such you can afford to "break bank" (ever go to restaurants?), but if we're talking April game, a blast can be had for real cheap.

If 1.9 Mill was roughly 22K per game, then in order to clear the 3 Mill mark, it has to exceet 35K or something along those lines. Right now the capacity is 38K, right? The Opener, the Yankee series and Cub series = sell-out So the rest of the home games would have to average 33-34 K. So far, the "rest" = 13 K. Close enough

Actually, there is a question. A big-ass question. Literally. Frank is almost 36, overweight, had a serious injury not long ago. Today he has a 950 OPS at 5 Million. Tomorrow he succumbs to age-related chronic back pain and barely plays at 6 Mill. Do you understand why Frank's "value" may not be anywhere near 10 Mil per? I am sure I mentioned it, Edgar Martinez had 960 OPS in a pitcher's park last year up until he broke his foot in late August. He is making 3 Mill, which is 1/25 of his team's payroll. Don't compare Frank to Delgado's 20 Mill per -- nobody pays obscene amounts anymore. David Ortiz had a 900+ OPS last year at 3 Mill and he is a wholalot younger than Frank, playing for a big-money team like the Red Sox. And yet he still can't make what Frank makes today. Frank's intristic value is no longer where he thinks it is. Neither is Maggs's, but at least he is not as delusional as Frank when it comes to what non-Sox teams will pay him; Sox can't pay Magglio his 14 Mill, but you can bet your ass somebody ELSE will.

No way. I've seen Ramirez play last year with Pirates and he was terrible, couldn't make a routine play, couldn't make a tough play......They got through to him, improved his mechanics, his confidence went up and now his throws are on the money for the most part -- Augie Ojeda would catch them, let alone D-Lee. As contrasted with that scumbag Reds trotted out there today -- gets eaten up alive by Sammy's grounder, didn't cover 3rd on Alou's blooper and couldn't throw Sammy out at home.
