  1. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 15, 2006 -> 11:49 AM) Jones has a 5/10 no trade exemption. He'd had to approve it. i dont see why he wouldnt waive it to go to the sox. its not like the braves will resign him. plus, its his FA year, if he played at the cell he would put up monster numbers, therefore he would get a bigger contract.
  2. QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Dec 15, 2006 -> 11:45 AM) Sox fans, would you be willing to trade Mark Buehrle for Andruw Jones staright up right now. They'll both be free agents at the end of the year and probably neither will be re-signed by either team. The Sox would be short a starting pitcher. They would either have to sign one of the remaining free agents or turn the spot over to Haeger / Floyd / Broadway / Phillips. Jones ofcourse solve the CF problem for this year and allows the Sox to keep Anderson as a 4th Ofer and he can mature and help the team at the same time. Bad idea or great idea ? Would Kenny do it ? Would Atlanta do it ? If you think the Sox should and you want them to fill a spot with a F.A. pitcher, which one would be a good sign ? i would trade buehrle for jones. i think jones can help us more than buehrle but i dont think this move would make sense for the braves
  3. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 14, 2006 -> 09:43 AM) I read today that Hall will 'probaly' go to Philly. I have no clue as to why that was said, though. we should be able to sign him, we have money obviously becuase we havent spent any. i guess it depends on hall, he would probably want to be a starting catcher than backup..
  4. QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Dec 14, 2006 -> 09:35 AM) I think it will be either Alamor or Stewart. Anybody but Widger, please!!! alomar, widger, oh god no. i want toby hall. the sox need a catcher that can actually hit and not be automatic outs.
  5. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 12:58 AM) This was some body's quote about the Batista signing here in Arizona "Should have gone to the Royals they have a definite chance this year. They looked at their downfalls and their GM really went at it. I am glad to see that Miggy got the $$$ he deserves. should have gone to the Royals they have a definate chance this year. They looked at their downfalls and their GM really went at it. I am glad to see that Miggy got the $$$ he deserves. Anyway about them Royals I think they bought their ticket to 2nd place in the AL Central. ". Didn't know what to make of this thats the dumbest S*** i have read all off season
  6. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Dec 11, 2006 -> 11:11 PM) He is a good ball player, I especially like him. Still, he's due to make more than the Braves want to pay him and considering the non-tender deadline is coming up fast, I happen to think he'll be cut. i would love to see him in a sox uni, i actually like him more than gooch. im sure he'll bounce back from the off year he had last year.
  7. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Dec 11, 2006 -> 10:59 PM) The Sox are hesitant to discuss a multiyear contract with Crede, who is recovering from lower back problems that didn't require off-season surgery. it seems like everytime theres stories/rumors written about crede, it always mentions about how the sox are hesitant to resign him becuase of his back. why do they even mention it, they should down play it shouldn they? im sure it takes interest away from teams trying to trade for him
  8. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Dec 11, 2006 -> 10:49 PM) Could Willie Harris start in Atlanta next year or atleast be a viable bench option for that club if Marcus Giles is in fact not tendered a contract? i always thought giles was a good ball player, he didnt have too good of a year last yr though. why wouldnt they offer him a contract?
  9. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Dec 11, 2006 -> 06:38 PM) Yes it's sad we can't spend $55M for a pitcher that we could get the same production from a $380K rookie. The 2006 25-man roster had 2 Free Agents. 2!!!! Sandy Alomar and David Riske. How many free agents did we need to sign to replace them? Come to think of it. You know how many free agents we signed last off-season? 2! Paul Konerko and Chris Widger. At least one of those worked out. True, we haven't signed anyone to replace either candidate, but both Gavin Floyd (Obtained in a trade that apparently didn't get reported to your parts) and David Aardsma (again, another phantom trade not reported by the damn liberal media) feature better stuff than Mr. Riske. As for Alomar, there's no excuse for him coming back. He sucks, but the best back-up options (Hall,Torrealba) are still being held ransom -- though they figure to be non-tendered by tomorrows deadline, so the best option is to wait until they become available as free agents by Wednesday. yes, i was perfectly aware of the trade, after all, freddy was my favorite player on the sox. but i said we havent spent money, that was a salary dump/thinking of the future trade. >i wouldnt mind seeing the sox get hall as a backup, but im sure some1 else might offer him more years and might like him as a starter >btw, i hope we can get a catcher that can actually hit a bit when he bats and isnt an automatic out.
  10. "AJ & David basically pushing each other around" what, they werent just playing around/acting ?
  11. "The Royals made Batista a three-year, $24 million offer. The winning bid figures to be higher." sad how even the royals are spending and we havent signed anyone or traded for anyone(yet)
  12. QUOTE(Soxman72 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 09:10 PM) Once it is confirmed I will start dancing. S.F. deserves him and I am happy I will no longer have to listen to the rumors of him coming to Chicago. whew! that would have just been a disaster.
  13. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:27 PM) Melissa - I meant we have 10M more than we would have had. Assuming KW was going to sign Crede anyways for one more year. lol, alright then. anyways-baldelli
  14. QUOTE(Guillen @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) The rumor also included trading Crede to the Yanks, bringing up J. Fields and moving AROD back to shortstop. i could live with that..we have more pressing needs though, such as getting a center fielder (baldelli )
  15. QUOTE(Guillen @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 04:40 PM) The rumor now is the reason KW got rid of Garcia in return for little was that it was a salary dump. He's also in the market to dump either Vazquez or Buehrle to free up some money in order to bring in none other than Alex Rodriguez. I'm all for a move of this nature. I understand that pitching wins championships, as was evident in 2005, but the opportunity to bring in A-Rod is a no brainer. He is on track to be the best shortstop in the history of MLB. I think bringing A-Rod in, putting him back at shortstop in a city with a market similar to NY (but not nearly the media frenzy), is just what he needs to revitalize his career. I just hope that Kenny can pull it off and if anyone can, he'd be the one to do it. LET'S GO KENNY!!!! i would love to get arod and am all for it...but it doesnt seem likely, where did you hear this?
  16. do we really even have an extra 10mil. crede made like what, 2.5mil? isnt he getting a raise, if he does he will obviously command 8 mil or so.
  17. QUOTE(ChiSox9 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 04:41 PM) Looks the the Cubs might possibly get hosed... sounds like Lilly prefers the Yanks over the Cubs AND might play for them for less (looking for 4/40) and Mench seems to be locked up by Toronto. Could it be the that Cubs spend tons but still come out with NO rotation??? (you mean meche?) its all a bunch of b.s., how it was mentioned in the suntimes that pinella was doing a great job recruiting FA's. im sure soriano chose the cubs becuase of pinella. whatever. lilly, meche, there going to the highest bidders.as with all the other FA's
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 01:41 PM) Cubs are close to signing Lilly. That's going to be fun to watch when the wind is blowing out at Wrigley. its funny becuase its true. lilly is a pitcher that gets lots of flyball outs. everyone knows you need pitchers who induce lots of k's or groundball outs to pitch at wrigley. i hope this deal happens
  19. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 12:15 PM) I would love to see AROD break up the base-clogging duo of Thome and Konerko. So I guess AROD would play 3rd this year, and then move to SS in 2008, when Mr. Fields hits the scene? Sounds like a plan. Where do we sign? yes, sounds like a great plan. i just dont think arod will get moved. everyone is saying its not worth it to trade crede/garcia for arod. ha, yea right. if i were the yankees i would want more./
  20. QUOTE(bigruss22 @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 09:19 PM) The shortage of pitching is no real surprise, since it seems that teams are always looking for more pitching depth, but what really is surprising me are the contracts being offered so freely to bad players. Just look at Adam Eaton, how many starts did he have last year? 13? and he has been injured frequently thruout his career...and Philly gives him a 3 year deal worth 24 mill? just insane ...this is why K DUB will wait and get the best, most desperate offer, because guys like Eaton are getting huge inflated contracts Kenny should be whipping some ass this offseason with the bargaining chips he has if you look at it that way, yea. if someone is desperate enough to give eaton that much then they will defiantley overpay for one of our starters who are way better than him. i think i read somewhere where eaton has only had 1 season in which he has thrown more than 140 innings or that that was his career high, something like that.
  21. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 08:29 PM) Looks like Padilla back to Texas, and Mad Dog to the Pads... ...and baldelli to the sox ha, i wish
  22. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) good, i hope theyre that stupid too give him that much money.
  23. QUOTE(iamshack @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 08:17 PM) Looks like some of these pitchers are beginning to get close to deals, which is good. Padilla has reportedly reached a $34 million deal with the Rangers, and Lilly looks like he will be signed in the next few days. That should begin to clear up the market for our starters a little bit. ugghh, padilla.....i wonder who lilly signs with...
  24. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 06:15 PM) Holy s***, that's cheap. The Cards now have 2 of the best bargains in the majors. 5/65, that is cheap, 13 mil. javy is making 12. whos the other bargain? im guessing pujols, he makes 14 right?
