  1. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 07:59 PM) Yeah, Contreras did pretty much embarrass himself and instantly remove any mention of "ace" from his title. Aces don't do this. Aces don't give up 7 earned runs in 1 inning. And I don't care if Masset technically surrendered two inherited runs, either. Far as I'm concerned, the way the Indians were hitting Count it was inevitable the runs would have scored. i dont think u can say he cant be an ace because he sucked today. i know carpenters line wasnt as bad, but he gave up 5 er-and he is an ace.
  2. QUOTE(joeynach @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 11:17 AM) While I love Thome I would also like to see some protection in our lineup for him against LHP. I mean his splits were awful last year, .236/6/24 against LHP. That is just awful for your 3rd hitter in the lineup. Thome CAN NOT be the 3rd hitter in our lineup against lefties period. The best thing to do would be to sandwhich him between Konerko and Dye, 2 good LHP hitters, to protect him and also minimize the effect of a LOOGY at some point late in the game. Please Ozzie learn from last year Pods and Thome = bad vs. LHP. i dont get why ozzie insists on keeping the lineup the same. if its a lefty pitchin, dye should be batting 3rd, if its a righty, then dye. or u could just leave dye batting 3rd, he did it last yr. apparently he didnt do to bad.
  3. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 07:28 PM) lol, no I actually think Pablo would be a horrendous choice. He would be exposed quickly. They'll come up with someone. I hope they retain Iguchi, but there's no guarantee for anything. It's entirely possible the Sox could trade Crede for a pitcher and a 2B prospect who takes over. We'll have to see. i wouldnt be against the sox trading crede if were out of it by the break. its pretty obviousy, imo, that fields is the 3b of the future.
  4. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 07:17 PM) PABLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ha. he probably could too but hes so valuable coming off the bench. how about someone like ronnie belliard? i liked him a lot when he played with cle.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 03:31 PM) Two things: - it shouldn't be a surprise Iguchi struggled today. He's not very good against LHP. - I hate the notion that Iguchi was better as a #2 hitter. He got in the hole far too often, and that led to his numerous strikeouts. He'll be better down in the order. And if he isn't....don't worry. He'll be gone after this year anyways. what makes you say that? we most likely have to resign him because then who else will play second for us?
  6. QUOTE(joeynach @ Mar 31, 2007 -> 03:02 PM) Why we cant score and need to change our lineup against lefties. Not only did average lefty Mark Redman make us look silly AGAIN. yea, just about any lefty makes us look bad.
  7. yea, i dont feel too great about this season either. this team has been way too bad this spring, i know it doesnt mean much because its ST, but i dont see how the pitchers are suddenly going to be lights out once the season starts... > it seems like too many people are saying, oh its only ST, things like that...
  8. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 04:22 PM) Logan K's the side. ERA still zero. He'd better be in the pen instead of Sisco. i rather have sisco than boone. atleast he has mlb experience and some sucess in the bigs unlike boone.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 06:48 PM) Yes....let's look at the positions they have more talent: 3b SS 2b LF And it's not even close at those positions. Both teams have awful center fielders. It's a shame Girardi completely screwed over J. Johnson. They have some young pitchers who are more promising than what we have coming up. Olivo's numbers were pretty good last year. He had similiar power numbers to AJP...it's just his walk total is astonishing. ok, fine ur right, they have a lot of talent! of course, they have Cabrera!
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 06:31 PM) Marlins have just as much talent as the White Sox do (when healthy). lol wow, r u serious?
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 06:17 PM) Olivo wasn't garbage. Actually, he'd be the ideal fit for back-up, but it will never happen. well he wasnt good enough to be starting, only if its a team like the royals, drays, marlins or something.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 06:05 PM) We absolutely must get some offensive production from our back-up catcher. well if thats the case, were going to have to look elsewhere to get a backup catcher. thats true though because im sick of all these garbage catchers weve had lately, davis, alomar, burke, olivo
  13. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 06:00 PM) Those would be the two options from within the organization. If we're looking for the best backup catcher, we'll have to look outwards -- and it would probably be between Javy Lopez and Damian Miller. I'm just hoping, based on the return value for Brady Clark, we basically have to pay nothing for Miller. i agree. molina seems pretty solid defensively but you'll probably get nothing from him offensively. this just stinks, hopefully he wont miss the whole year or we get someone like miller..
  14. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 05:52 PM) That's all it took? Too bad he would have had no place on our ballclub. If only we had Tracey. Hold onto him for a few more days and perhaps it would have been enough to land Damian Miller. who will most likely be the back up, wiki or molina? bruce was saying molina...
  15. so we didnt(couldnt) get anything for him?
  16. QUOTE(Butter Parque @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 02:44 PM) He got claimed on waivers, so there ends that prospect's journey in White Sox Country. was he that bad? or maybe it was never going to work out for him here, esp. after what happend last year..
  17. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 02:41 PM) You just want him dealt to the Marlins... theres no one on that team i would want on the sox though
  18. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 02:19 PM) Rooting for Brian Anderson to play centerfield for the 2007 White Sox is like rooting for Ron Santo to make the HOF. makes sense to me, for some reason i dont want to see him there either....
  19. QUOTE(tbaldwin @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 08:08 AM) Will do later on today after I'm at my home computer. anyway u can get a miguel cabrera pic like that too?
  20. i dont think that even putting wood in the bullpen will keep him from getting hurt..
  21. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 06:06 PM) I thought about that too but to think the Cubs could afford him with what they paid for Soriano and Lilly is a lot. they only have so much money. as u mentioned, they gave all that money to soriano and lilly, but now there going to have to pay big time for zambrano so there is no way they can afford him.
  22. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 10:39 PM) It looks like the only way Perez makes it is if Anderson is sent down, but then we wouldn't have a backup centerfielder other than Mack, which is apparently not an option. Unless they trade Mack or Pods which is not going to happen. It's too bad Perez can't play a little bit of outfield and Mack was better in center. It would be great to have Perez bat in the lineup against lefties. if perez doesnt make the team then who becomes the backup 1st baseman?
  23. to me, it doesnt make sense. phillips said if ozzie doesnt get the sox to perform, then he will be gone. hes not sayng he will be gone because of his big mouth. if jerry manuel could manage here 7-8 yrs and not win anything then im sure ozzie will stick around a bit, considering he has won a world series.
