  1. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 12:10 PM) My choice would be Gallardo great contract, dont think they would move him
  2. Scott Miller of CBS Sports hears that the Marlins have "never been more open" to the idea of trading long-time franchise cornerstone Hanley Ramirez. As Miller notes, the Fish don't feel they're far from contending, they simply have soured on a mix of players that has underperformed. Ramirez's most recent antics, in which he punched a cooling fan in the dugout, now have him unavailable to play. Ramirez stopped taking medication for the cut he sustained, which has led to an infection in his hand. at this point, i wonder how much value hanley has. he hasnt cared for a couple years now, and now this. i also dont buy into the whole he didnt mind moving to third. he dogged it a few times last year. just dont see why anyone want this guy
  3. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 05:02 PM) Kurt Russel in The Thing(Plays the character RJ MAcReady). dont know who kurt russell is, or the thing or rj. but ok lol
  4. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 04:57 PM) Lol I love the white flags from some of you guys. Seriously the season is no where close to being over and were 1.5 games out of first. Give the doomed crap a rest. what/who is that in your avatar?
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 04:52 PM) Some might say (including me) that this should have been the goal even before this trade. Hopefully Sanchez tanks and Turner becomes a stud. this. anibal had a 5.96 era in interleague play this year, 5.00 in his career, hope it holds up. no more holes in that lineup :/
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 03:45 PM) Amen. Or just leave him in AAA then trade him. He's old news. Get him out of here. His time has passed. He has a bad back and can't hit. Don't know who will replace him, but got to move on from Morel. agreed. hes never going to be a good hitter. cant have him and beckham in the same lineup, again
  7. it seems like they are just waiting for his approval, i think it gets done. it has been reported many times he would accept a trade to certain teams, especially in the n.l. and the braves being one of them. would be shocked if he said no
  8. QUOTE (OsweGo-Go Sox @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 03:21 PM) Why the hell would he turn this trade down? I understand the situation with his daughter and all, but people have been talking about a trade all season and he hasn't said anything. they said he vetoed the trade?havent seen anything yet
  9. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 03:06 PM) I'm talking about this season, which is all that matters to the Braves. i still wouldnt count on him to beat cain, hamels, halladay, kershaw, etc when they face off
  10. dempster is having a nice season but agreed, hes not an ace. verlander, felix, cain, weaver, those are aces.
  11. i wanted the sox to get shields but the rays would want more for him than what the cubs are asking for garza, i would assume, and it looks like it might cost the dodgers the #35 prospect in the game in zach lee, no way we could compete with that
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 02:07 PM) Would 1-5 this week do it for you? my opinion is that this team has to many holes to contend in the postseason and were probably going to lose him as a free agent. the sox are in the race though so they cant trade anyone and i fully understand that >just mentioned it because with so many teams in the race with the second wild card, its a sellers market as you can tell, u can get a lot , for pitching especially because everyone nneds it
  13. Cubs, Dodgers Discussing Garza For Zach Lee Swap By Ben Nicholson-Smith [July 23, 2012 at 2:07pm CST] The Cubs agreed to trade Ryan Dempster to Atlanta earlier today, and they aren't done dealing yet. The Cubs and Dodgers are discussing a trade that would send Matt Garza to Los Angeles for a package of players including highly-regarded pitching prospect Zach Lee, Jim Bowden of ESPN.com and MLB Network reports (on Twitter). mlbrumors
  14. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 01:57 PM) Yeah, that's a really nice move for the Cubs. Dempster was useless to them, and they could quite easily get him back in a few months. Delgado's stock has fallen a little, but he is still a sexy arm. can we trade peavy :/
  15. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 10:05 PM) I hope Myers pitches Monday so we can talk about that instead of this. This. And what iamshack said
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 05:42 PM) The police found her crying with a swollen cheek. The guy hit his wife in public. You may want to believe it was the only time he's ever abused a woman, but the odds are heavily against it. I know players are not all saints and probably most are total assholes, but guys who hit women are cowards and aren't going to be getting any respect from me. Ever. I'm just fascinated at all the posters who will defend him now that he's a White Sox. so if your at the game or watching on tv and brett is in to save the game, what are you going to do? youre not going to want him to get the job done?
  17. "and theres a hit by paulie, what new" i miss hearing hawk say that.
  18. The Rays would be looking for a combination of high-end young pitchers, a young catcher and a controllable hitter if they discuss trades involving James Shields. The Padres aren’t shopping Edinson Volquez, but they haven’t made him untouchable. Teams don’t expect the Marlins will trade Josh Johnson, who’s under contract for 2013. Brandon McCarthy’s history of shoulder problems diminishes his trade value. “He's not going anywhere," one executive predicted to Stark. mlbrumors, all pitchers mentioned here
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 12:49 PM) Johnsons arm worries me. with the injuries the pitchers have had this year and knowing peavy could get hurt and sale might hit a wall, maybe they would be better off with someone that isnt so injury prone. i wouldnt mind getting him though
  20. heres something i found about johnson (ignore the whole twins thing)
  21. QUOTE (northside sawx @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 11:22 AM) Lets hope so. Whats his contract look like, anyone? not sure on him. he has great stuff but hasnt been too good this year but the main thing that worries me about him is that hes so injury prone.
  22. cant say im as excited as everyone else lol im more worried than excited...
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 10:16 PM) http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/team/_/stat/p...nded/order/true White Sox now have 15 blown saves. 3 ahead of any team in the AL. We're making the Boston bullpen look good, actually...at least in recent weeks. We have enough offense, even though it's inconsistent. But teams just can't survive so many blown saves that turn into losses about 75% of the time. It just eats the heart right out of your starters and eventually infects the whole team. We saw it to start 2011...it's happening again. i dont know what to make of this team. weve seen stretches in which they can look really good but then you see the glaring weaknesses. theres a lot of holes on this team, eventually it just may be too many to overcome
