  1. So a healthy Gload is still down in Charlotte and Timo is still on the ML roster...
  2. McCarthy & Marte for Burnett & Lowel. That's it. If the Marlins want anything else, either they start throwing in players we want or no deal.
  3. Let's just hope that this isn't Ozzie's way of Keeping Timo around----Show that Dye can play 1B so we don't need to bring Gload up, therefore Timo get's to stay around. I know this makes no sense and it's a longshot, but when it comes to Ozzie's admiration for Timo, you can never be 100% sure.
  4. QUOTE(Be Good @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 10:44 AM) Konerko needs a day off? I need a day off, you need a day off. 1B is the easiest position to play. PK had a day off today. Konerko should be playing everyday we need his bat. Gload should be PH and maybe getting a start every now and then at DH or 1B just to keep him happy. The Sox need a day off from Paulie every now and then.
  5. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 08:39 PM) Of course, the Sox have said Ross isn't coming back til he can play the outfield. That makes no sense at all. I think that is just Ozzie's way of keeping Timo around as long as possible. The Sox desperately need a backup first baseman to give Konerko some days off. They don't need another outfielder and Gload is an excellent first baseman and a bad outfielder. As soon as Gload is ready to play 1B and swing the bat without shoulder pain, he should take Timo's spot on the roster.
  6. Since Frank's return, Timo is not needed. Carl takes Timo's spot as the fourth outfielder. All Timo is around for now is a LH pinch hitter. Gload takes that spot from Timo when he's back. Timo should be gone when Ross comes back.
  7. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 05:58 PM) Or maybe we won't here any names (FLYING UNDER THE RADAR- Like he did when we aquired Freddy Garcia last season.) Actually, KW did not fly under the radar concerning Garcia. Rumors were flying for almost three months about KW coveting Freddy before he landed him. It was a foregone conclusion that Freddy was either going to the Yankees or the Sox, if I recall correctly.
  8. QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 04:33 PM) Why would we trade a guy who could be around for 10-15 years to get a guy who has about 1-2 left in him. I just don't see why this would make sense. Because we want to win a World Series. This year. BMac isn't ready. The only thing that bothers me about Clemens is that he has a clause in his contract that he doesn't have to travel with the team. I don't like that, and I don't know what that would do to the other pitchers on the staff.
  9. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 04:33 PM) Roger Clemens isn't even the best choice on the Astros IMO. Roy Oswalt and Andy Pettite are much younger and might give you more than a rental player, and they're not going to cost nearly as much money. No kidding. That's why the Astros will never trade Oswalt. They'd trade a 42yr old Clemens though. If the Astros were willing to trade Oswalt, I'd give them McCarthy, Anderson and another prospect.
  10. QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) Ok, i didn't think they should start him vs. the Cubs anyways. I know he did well last time he played them, but i feel more confident with Jon pitching vs. them. It shouldn't have anything to do with the Cubs. They should skip that slot every chance they get until Duque is back and at 100%. I never liked the idea of pitching BMac against the Cubs so soon after they just saw him anyway. But because of the day off Thursday, I would skip him no matter whom we were playing. Every game counts. If we can skip him again next week, we should. He should only pitch when we really need that fifth starter.
  11. If we're only 30 games over at the All Star break, I'll be a little disappointed.
  12. Trade BMac for Roger Clemens. If the Astros' scouts are as high on BMac as the Sox are, they would do it. They're not going anywhere this year, and Clemens is costing them a ton of money they could use to rebuild. Oswalt and BMac would give them two aces in their rotation for years to come (again assuming they see what the Sox see in BMac). Clemens would give the Sox the best rotation around. For those who say we don't need another starter, what happens if Buehrle, Garcia, or Garland go down? If the Sox believe this is THE year, they should try to get Clemens. Although Clemens costs a lot of money, he is one of the few pitchers around that put asses in the seats. With the buzz created by Clemen's acquisition, the Sox would increase attendence by a significant amount, paying for Clemens' salary. I heard Clemens has stated he would not be interested in being traded to anyone other than maybe the Yankees or Rangers. But I believe under the present circumstances, he would consider pitching for the team with the best record in baseball. Of course this is probably just a pipe dream, but the more I think of it, the more this has KW written all over it.
  13. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 08:46 PM) So, you guys still think McCarthy is ready for MLB hitters? Nope. BMac has a great future ahead of him, but he's still about two years away. He was supposed to start this season in AA, but because of his good Spring Training, he was rushed prematurely to AAA. He hasn't been successful at AAA yet. Let's hope El Duque gets well soon!
  14. As DJ has pointed out, Carl leads the American League in go-ahead runs batted in. Carl is truly clutch. He's doing fairly well in the outfield this year so far as well.
  15. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 08:32 PM) Go Carl Yess! Go Carl, Go Willie, Go Aaron and Go A.J.!!!
  16. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) Anybody think that what Buerhle and Evert said this week were pubilicity stunts. Everett's comments that got the mediots in a tizzy were not made this week. They were made in direct answers to questions asked of him during an interview that occured during Spring Training. Buerhle's comments were made during a lighthearted exchange when the interviewer kept pumping him to name pitchers that "cheat". Both are being blown way out of proportion. In defense of Maddux's response (and I'm no big fan of Maddux and I hate the Cubs), how was the comment put to him to elicit his response of "Who is Buehrle?" I would bet a mediot went up to him and said something like "What do you think of Mark Buerhle accusing you of cheating?" Of course Buehrle said no such thing, but how would Maddux know that? As for Guillen, I hope he was joking when he said he would help his players cheat, but he should realize things look a lot different when in print.
  17. Yeah, I'd like to have him on our 25 man roster as well. I wouldn't trade anyone off our 25 for him except Timo but the A's wouldn't take him. Maybe a second tier prospect or two would get him, and he can take Timo's spot on the roster. The only problem would be what to do with Gload when he's healthy.
  18. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 09:16 AM) It wouldn't be a bad comment if he didn't say "no one is even close." Clayton is and was a good defensive player, but he was a cancer on the White Sox. Throwing around complements like that to players who where addition by subtraction is very odd to me. Bingo!
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 11:09 PM) "White Sox possibly looking at Sean Burroughs" I wasn't impressed with Burroughs at all during the SD series. If that's the best we can do, I'll stick with Crede.
  20. QUOTE(JoshPR @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 11:03 PM) I may get blasted by a Mod for this.. But that comment really SUCKED. Sad really. Ignorance is a sad thing..... :headshake I agree that comment sucked. I hope you and everyone else here do realize that Carl did NOT make that comment. That was the poster trying to be clever. I know it's obvious, but I just want to make sure nobody reacts to that post thinking it was true.
  21. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 10:38 PM) Well, his comments are now getting national play. Opinionated or ignorant, it would probably be best if he kept his trap shut. Look, Carl's statements were not unsolicited. A reporter asked him questions. So he's supposed to keep his trap shut because you don't agree with his answers? What if Carl believed that Gay Marriage should be legalized in all fifty states, Wrigley Field is the most beautiful spot on the earth, Gammons is a baseball genius, and most people who watch baseball know as much about the game as a seasoned veteran in the Majors? Should he have kept his trap shut then? Would all the PC storm troopers be up in arms about his comments? And for those who continually bash him because he does not believe in dinosaurs, would you bash him if he believed human beings descended from apes? Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
  22. QUOTE(sayitanitso @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) But Crazy Carl is a cool nickname. I know. Sometimes I use it myself, but I always say it in a lighthearted, positive way. He may be wrong about the moon landing and the existence of Dinosaurs, but these are irrelevant things anyway. Besides, he's right about most other things. Agree or not, he's just as entitled to his opinions as anyone else, and he's not mean spirited about anything. He's a good ballplayer and a great team leader. That's what really matters about Carl and the White Sox.
  23. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 12:28 AM) Didn't see this posted. Short article about Crazy Carl, essentially living up to his namesake. His Wrigley slam was amusing, but a few of these comments made me a bit squeemish. Nothing he said there makes me squeamish. He's pretty much correct on everything he said in the Maxim article. I love the way all the PC media idiots are outraged over his recent comments! LOL! Carl isn't crazy. Carl rules.
  24. Someone at WSI posted that Gammons suggested the Sox may be interested in trading for Julio Lugo. FWIW
