  1. I loved Juan Uribe Sr. so I couldn't be happier to hear this. I wish him nothing but the best. I wish we had someone like his Dad on the Sox right now.
  2. Yes, Donaldson was taunting Tim and anyone would get upset by being repeatedly taunted. Especially after what happened between the two last week.
  3. No doubt he was taunting him. Josh Donaldson is an asshole.
  4. I think Donaldson has always been an asshole and he was being an asshole by calling Tim "Jackie." But upon hearing that Tim himself said he feels like he's today's Jackie Robinson, it appears that he was just mocking Tim for making that comparison, not because he was using it as some kind of a racial insult.
  5. I thought this was about Josh Donaldson mocking Tim Anderson by calling him "Jackie." That's what I was talking about anyway.
  6. Who's trying to take away anyone's reaction. Anyone can react by being angered or upset by anything that angers or upsets them.
  7. Comparing that to what Jackie Robinson accomplished kind of trivializes Jackie IMHO.
  8. Who is this Varela and why should I care what he thinks? And what has this to do with what we were talking about?
  9. Just win. That's the best revenge. Just win.
  10. Not quite the same, but yes I imagine he may at some point be mocked by an opposing player for saying that. I'm pretty sure some people here have mocked him for that comment already but I don't think it has anything to do with his heritage.
  11. I think it's pretty pretentious for a young player to declare he's getting to a point where he needs to change the game.
  12. I've never heard any Hispanic player say they feel like they are today's Robert Clemente. And if someone did make a statement like that, I could imagine them getting teased about it as well.
  13. Yeah, that does seem pretty pretentious.
  14. No, not at all. Donaldson is an asshole, I've said it for years. But when I first heard that he called Anderson "Jackie" I couldn't believe even he would do something that stupid. It seemed like he was calling him "Jackie" just because he's black. But now that I hear the reason is because Anderson said he feels like today's Jackie Robinson the comment makes more sense. Rather than it being a random racial comment it's basically Donaldson mocking Anderson for comparing himself to the great Jackie Robinson. Quite a big difference.
  15. Wait, so Anderson told Sports Illustrated that he feels like "today's Jackie Robinson?" That kind of puts a different context to Donaldson calling him "Jackie."
  16. Vaughn was never allowed to develop. Instead of getting regular ABs in the minors and being allowed to develop defensively at his natural position, he was thrown into the major leagues right out of college and forced to play defensive positions where he had never played before while not even getting everyday ABs. Considering all of this, I think he has done a great job learning under fire. I still have high hopes for him as their starting first baseman if only they'll let him develop there.
  17. Everyone has probably already realized they were both over-hyped. I was advocating trading both of them over a year ago.
  18. There's a difference between hustling down the line running through the bag like a professional baseball player and lunging to the base causing self injury.
