  1. Many of the owners do pay for their own stadiums and this is where they make a large profit. They don't heavily profit from the minor leagues as they don't actually "own" them. I think the salary floor is a great way to grow the game as it will create less tanking and create a more competitive league. The idea of increased number of the teams also generates more interest with more teams in competition but it was the player who didn't want it not the owners.
  2. I guess I just look at the salary caps and floors in the other sports and the fully guaranteed contracts. The union has really kept these intact. These are huge advantages compared to other sports.
  3. It will depend on how many teams go over the 180 or whatever they negotiate the ceiling to be. The more teams that are over the more money that flows to the lower revenue teams.
  4. On this we totally agree. It will be moot if Dalton gets hurt. However, the longer he stays out the the longer Fields can hone his skills without taking the risk on their possible franchise QB. Dalton in the big picture means nothing to the franchise.
  5. This is what the union wants. Salaries for the players to go up.
  6. As of right now the person the Bears wanted as their starting LT is out with back surgery. Thier starting RT is out with a knee injury. One of their backup tackles is out with a concussion. They just signed Peters off the street because they have no one else and he hasn't played a full season in 2 years. Even if those are his strengths he will not be able to improve on them and develop them if he needs to use the 4.4 all the time. Sure it helps in the short term but doesn't help in the long term.
  7. They don't need an elite one. But one that at least has tackles that aren't 3rd string. Running 4.4 all the time doesn't help develop his passing skills. This is where he needs his reps.
  8. Agreed. It brings up bad memories of what happened to David Carr. Why risk a possible franchise QB getting gun shy by running for his life constantly.
  9. This is a non-issue for the CBA as the minor leagues are not part of the union, thus they really aren't going to sacrifice any part of their union for non-members.
  10. The MLB union is by far the strongest in all of sports. And of course they control the money flow, they OWN the team. Doesn't mean that the players aren't trying to screw the owners over every chance they get.
  11. No just the millionaires. It's a union negotiation just like any other. It's amazing how many people think it's only the owners just to get something from the union. The union is trying to do the exact same thing. That's the essence of bargaining unit negotiations.
  12. They won't go over it multiple times without dropping down for a year. This will increase the competition in the league. But they will still have a few teams every year go over. There are currently 9 teams over 180 and 7 teams under 100. It will bring better competition.
  13. Part of it will be offset by the lower ceiling as it will create more revenue for the lower salary teams.
  14. It's a good starting point for negotiation as the salary floor is really enticing. It will keep teams from totally ranking, make the league more competitive and bring the lower salaries up.
  15. What was wrong with Hendriks. He struck out the side.
  16. Reading this I thought they blew the lead and were losing by 5. They got out if the inning without a run. Yeesh.
  17. This is why a hard salary floor is what baseball needs.
  18. The 180 is just when the first penalty is. Its not a hard cap. I love the proposal. A salary floor us what the league needs to stop the tanking and making the league more competitive.
  19. Brain gets in the way. Better when acting on instinct.
  20. I used a towel to coil it up had handed it to him to hold. Not shocking he didn't want to sit. While someone else had the more important job of running g to call 911. Believe it or not there was no damage. The ER doc just wound it up and stitched the scrotum back up.
  21. Its my best but it isn't even in the top 10 stories when we have a few too many.
  22. Wasn't so pretty live. Be happy you didn't have to take care of it.
