No they kept their top prospects that will do that. They traded away their bottom tier prospects and 3 MLB players. They have the top prospect to still be competitive in 2024.

The lineup, yes. The pitching not so much if they trade away 2 of Kopech, Dunning and Steiver.

Yes it will because they have a good core right now that is under their control. Cease, Dunning and Kopech is a good start to a talented staff. The current group of young starters Thompson, Kelley and Dalquist are all HS guys and would just be making it to the MLB.

The problem is Kopech alone won't do it. If it was only one of thier pitchers, I would be for it too. However, the reports out there is that is will be multiple. They will have an offense and a bad pitching staff in 2 years as all of the recent drafts are HS pitchers and are years away from making it to the MLB let alone being competitive.

I agree. if you look at trading only one of them. If you include 2 of them then you need to account for the other one they trade away. Go ahead and trade away the furute for 2 years of a run. It doesn't matter if Stiever is a bum in your scenario because if the pitcher they acquire has only 1 1/2 of control, he'll be gone anyway. And yes, we waited 4-5 years for the rebuild and I don't want 2 years of competitive teams. I want the team to be competitive in 2024 and beyond.

One year is a pretty narrow future if their giving up 6 years of control for multiple players such as Kopech, Dunning or Stiever. In essence if they trade 2 of them they are giving 12 years of combined control for 1 1/2 years if they have only 1 more year.

Yes. As long as he stays in the regular rotation only 3-4 more starts should have him there.

If they get a starter it needs to be Dunning, kopech or Cease. Otherwise one of them spends the time in the minors waiting.
