Ricky is usually criticized for sticking with the lefty-righty matchups too often, so I don't think that will play too much of factor. But I get wanting to get young players adept at hitting both.

They do but is spending it on the current FA the best for the team. Personally, I'm not a fan of either Castellanos or ozuna. Both have very significant flaws and just because they are the best options this year doesnt mean they are the best for the team long term.

I'm not sure at this point. Mazara gives them a decent option to see if any of them take the next step. The point being they should spend their resources on pitching and look at other means to improve an already good looking lineup.

I would somewhat disagree. I do defend the FO to the extent of the restrictions they have. They know they cant follow your philosophy of give all FA all the money they want. The team would only be able to field 4 players. The rebuild needs to follow its path and make good short and long term decisions. Is this move going to make them win the world series next year? Is he better than the options last year? Yes Will the team be better in the long run without a 5 year deal to Castellanos? I think yes.

Are you assuming that none of the Sox OF from the minors will be good MLB OF in 2 years?

I just like your NASCAR responses. I think there are many things they can do to improve the team. I dont think they always have to buy the shniest object to become a playoff team. I'm not stuck to the idea of only one way to win, especially with the budgetary constraints the FO has.

Castellanos has a career 797 OPS and is an awful defensive player. Mazara has a career 754 OPS improving each year and a below average fielder.
