  1. Winning is more fun. But if you can't enjoy the game for the game then you're more of a fan of winning than the game. One of the most enjoyable games I've ever been to was a 1 hitter pitched by Jack Morris against the Sox. He was dominant and it was a great game.
  2. Still better than the F- they had in RF last year. Not every position needs to have an All-Star, even the Yankmees don't have that.
  3. I would call that improvement. They should be better in RF than last year. That only helps the team.
  4. Got it. Must have missed that one somewhere. I refer to JR that way.
  5. They did improve at catcher and RF already. There are other ways to obtain players besides FA.
  6. What does Moncada, Jimenez, Robert, Abreu, Grandal have to do with the budget? I can see why you have the attitude you do if you expect them to be perfect. Everyone GM has made bad moves. They just need to make mostly good ones.
  7. All depends on how they perform in the next few years. They've been pretty loyal to true stars.
  8. did he says it all had to be spent this off season RIGHT NOW, RIGHT NOW.
  9. Has nothing to do with the front office. Everything to do with the budget set by He Who Must Not Be Named.
  10. Look what they did for Abreu. Are you saying this is not a loyal organization? The knock on the organization is that they are usually too loyal.
  11. What is throwing away a season to you? I dont think a winning season is throwing it away. Even if they sign Castellanos they aren't making the playoffs with everything else you mentioned. The upgrade in RF would not put them in contention for the WS this year.
  12. I wouldnt say the Sox had a gigantic head start on the Astros. The Sox did acquire talent in trades that the Astros didn't have, however the Sox didnt have the 4 or 5 straight 100 loss seasons to get the highest draft picks either. The Sox had high ones but not to that extreme.
  13. My view of the rebuild will be at the end of this year and next. They need to have a winning record this year and contend for the playoffs after that. Otherwise I will join the group of saying the FO needs to go because they failed in the rebuild.
  14. They shouldn't tank. This should be the year to start winning and get at least close to the playoffs. Kopech will continue his recovery, Robert and madrigal will go through the initial growing pains at the MLB level.
  15. This is why I can understand the offseason so far. They got what I considered an impact catcher. There really are no impact RF candidates and they need pitching more so I get the Mazara flier. I wouldnt give Cole or Strasburg the 7+ year deals so the keuchal, ryu, madbum group is a good target. I'm not a fan of wheeler and his history but if it worked out it would have been fine.
  16. They cant count on Burdi but i think he will surprise people. Returning from MPFL reconstruction takes time as its robs you of all leg strength. He should be better this year.
  17. I think it will be to start the season, kopech should be ready to go. I dont think it will be at the end of the season, although the could just to shortened starts. But that's when the bring in Rodon to finish the season because he will want to build his value for when he becomes a free agent.
  18. Not sure. It would depend on the quality. If they sign keuchal, let's say, the rotation is Giolito, cease, kopech keuchal and Lopez. I'd be fine with Lopez as a 5th starter. If the second acquisition was substantially better I would he good with it but I dont know if its "needed" That's a really good rotation once they all get up and going. If Cease doesnt improve they may need one for the following year. They'll have Dunning waiting in the minors if he is throwing well.
  19. This is why I said that dont need the impact pitcher just a good one, the Castellanos version of a pitcher, if you read my post. I know I'm in the minority here but I would not give any pitcher not from my organization more than a 5 year deal. They rarely work out well. I've been consistent about this. If there are from my organization I know the medical issues and can determine if they warrant that contract.
  20. Agreed for FA. There may be trades that we dont know about. If its anyone other than those, I will be disappointed.
  21. That would not be a defebse6if the FO for me. I said at the beginning of FA that keuchal was my preference for the team.
  22. They still have the greater need in pitching so that's where the resources should go. It would be great to get the impact pitcher but need at least a good one, the Castellanos version of a pitcher.
  23. True. Hes below average but not awful like Castellanos but at 25% the cost when pitching is the greater need .
  24. He's a good hitter not great. He's awful on defense. He's would obviously be an offensive upgrade but not great other than a couple of months with the Cubs. If he reverts to AL version it's good but not worth sacrificing the pursuit of a greater need in pitching.
  25. That picture is awesome. Good memories.
