Those are 6 and 7 years. if you sign Betts to a 10 year contract as I stated you are losing at least one of those on the worst years of an aging Betts 3. I would like them to spend that money on Moncada a current player in 4-5 years as opposed to 10 years for Betts now to extend that winning window. Fans can hope that JR will approved the higher budgets and I would prefer to spend it on the current players on the team as they grow as opposed to a player that is older and shorten the window of competition.

The issue is, what is the most important job of the manager? You can pick on his bunting but he will make moves in the pen that probably help. In game decisions are basically by the book and really don't make much of a difference. The most important job of an MLB manger is to work with the players to have them ready to play each and every day. This is all behind the scene work that most people never see. He may win more having players ready than he costs them with in game decisions. In the end it will come down to the overall record at the end of the season regardless of the bunt he called in April.

It is. And that is a downside. However, I think the health of the player should be the primary concern and it's always better to avoid any surgery whenever possible.

I think they will. He had a ligament injury and has 16 months of rehab already. His muscles just need to improve endurance. It's fairly standard. However, they have been extremely conservative with him, including not returning last year so you may be right.

He threw about 140 in 2018. So his limit will be at least that probably up to 150-160 depending on fatigue.

I think this is the correct philosophy. So many teams, like the Cubs, sign these high money long term deals, then they need to let their home grown talent leave or trade them due to budget constraints. If they sign Betts for 10 years, you can bet right now they will lose Jimenez or Robert or Moncada due to that deal. I would prefer they see how the team develops and see where the current talent takes them then make the decision on what they need.

That's awesome. I've wondered how popular the MLB is in Europe. They really should tap into that market more to grow the game. I'm not sure how feasible it would be to regularly do games there but this increased season length to give more off days could be a precursor to it. This is something that should be addressed in the next CBA.

Kopech is ready. The only reasons he is going to the minors is service time and to limit his innings.

Many teams like to bring the starters along slowly and dont pitch them the full 100 or so early on. Extra bullpen help is worth it at that time.
