  1. As opposed to getting all the signals from the offense and defense for the team they are playing the following week? Knowing what the plays or audibles the other team uses is a much bigger advantage in football than if the pitch coming is a fastball or breaking pitch. Knowing the plays in football is everything.
  2. Yeah. I'm not really sure why this has gotten so much more attention than the Patriots cheating infractions. It may be because the MLB actually did something about it where the NFL barely did anything.

As a teacher, she should have an option for deferred compensation. It is money that is deducted and place into the retirement account from her salary. It lowers her taxable income and goes straight to retirement. It's a great deal and is only limited by the retirement account limitations. As for the healthcare discussion, I've been in the healthcare field for 35 years. The government run Medicare and Medicaid programs are some of the worst run and corrupt systems. If those systems were actually monitored and run more effectively, the healthcare system would cover more people. I've quit jobs because of practices that abused the system beyond reason. I once reported an issue and it was handled so poorly by the state that nothing happened except for me to have an unworkable employment situation. I left there and couldn't work in that group because the PT world is very small world. Luckily I have licenses in multiple fields and worked elsewhere for awhile. I just dont see how a government run system with this country's issues could work. But as I said maybe someone can figure it out but I haven't seen a plan yet to convince me it would. Just saying the country should do it, is good in theory but someone would need to detail the practical aspects to get me on board.
  4. I should have clarified. It's not my view, it the way the MLB views it. There are few hard fast rules in baseball, many unwritten rules. On the wall in every clubhouse is the sign about gambling. Anytime players get involved with gambling MLB is going to take a hard line and make it the worst. I was purely speaking as why the sign stealing scandal is treated differently from gambling related issues from an MLB view not mine.
  5. Gambling is still the biggest no no in the game. That's the difference.
  6. For some players there are more important issues than numbers. The Sox are on the cusp of maybe having a good run with a fairly young team. The FO is smart to to decide if they really want him in their clubhouse. They can cut him but will the damage already have been done. There is a reason he hasn't been signed yet. Most contenders are probably doing the same thing and the others probably dont think it's worth it. Baseball is a different sport. You are always around the other players.
  7. The owners wouldnt let him.
  8. Agreed. He just doesn't have the power to really take it any further.

The deferred compensation option is the best. Its pre-salary so it also lowers her overall taxable income. If been contributing to this 403b for 15 years.
  10. You got it. We'll revisit it.
  11. Total? I'll take the over.
  12. That's a typical timeline. Most pitchers are back pitching gin games about 9-10 months. Although the sox have been very conservative with their regard recently.
  13. That would be my guess. He could be like Rose and push for the repair of his tear is appropriate for that procedure. It is much better for the the long term function of his knee but most athletes don't push for it.
  14. It's about 8 months after surgery. He began throwing 2 months ago most likely.
  15. It's good to see Dunning on regular work.
  16. It wont be this long, I don't think. He can probably start throwing on about 2-3 weeks. He'll wont be behind more than 4 weeks at the most. Unless they do a repair then he'll miss the season. I doubt they to that though.

I have seen the numbers and know the data. You'll also not believe that the large insurance companies make very little money on premiums. The vast majority of their profit comes from investments. You can go on theories and narratives all you want but they just aren't accurate. Of course the problems of the countries went only healthcare. But that why I said it its that whole concept of which the healthcare was part of it. Just another reason why it would never work in the US is that anyone who work with Medicare or Medicaid government run insurance know that they are the most corrupt and poorly run systems you'll see. I have no faith that an healthcare system run by the US government system would be run properly and not just cause more waste than efficiency. If you go back to my original post I said universal healthcare is a ideally a great idea. You trying to paint me as selfish and only out for my benefit is wholly inaccurate and wrong. I just don't see how it could work on this country without just being too costly for everyone. Maybe someone smarter than me can figure it out but I haven't seen any plan that would work.

Of course they matter. I'm a teacher and part of a union as well. A d its costly. Why do you think pensions are always so costly and under fire. It's not the awesome salaries we get. Sure the highly paid administrators make all the news but for the vast majority of us it's the benefits that drive up the cost.

I'm not going to get into it but this is a false narrative. My wife has been in health insurance for over 30 years and is currently a VP for one of the largest companies in the world. I've seen the numbers of the US vs.countires that have health insurance for all. It's just too costly. Countries like Greece and Ireland have needed bailouts from the EU mostly because of costly universal programs like this and they don't have near the issues the US has. I know you wont believe it and never will. No one who has your stance does. But that's the way it is.

Ideally yes, practically I dont think its feasible with the cost.
  21. That would be hilarious. I think it would be fun in the MiLB instead of extra innings to save on young pitchers arms. I want it nowhere near the MLB though.
  22. I love that movie. Young Cameron Diaz looking good.
  23. I agree. they need to find someway to keep teams from "rebuilding" and throwing the season.
  24. It's less expensive than any other professional major league sport, at least in Chicago.
  25. I think part of the reason they are doing this is exactly what you said, they are trying to get more teams in the playoffs this eliminate some of the incentive to have so many teams in rebuilding mode.
