  1. It depends on what you celebrate. Winning a world series is one thing. A home run in April with two bad teams that's not a special moment, isn't a reason to celebrate. He is just doing his normal every day job in a normal moment.
  2. It's called professionalism. The players are expected to comport themselves in a certain manner due to the examples set for the profession and younger generations. If you don't agree with this comment, why aren't the players and coaches allowed to smoke in the dugout? They are of legal age. MLB decided that it would be a bad example for younger generations. Is acting this way what you teach your kids or is there amount of respect that should be shown? This isn't just isolated to "guys playing a kid's game and having fun." I personally, have no problems if he wants to do it but if he doesn't it often enough to tick off the other team, I have no issue with that either.
  3. Hopefully, it isn't someone needed to replace Moncada for a few games.
  4. MLB pitching is different than minors. There is a learning curve for the MLB.
  5. We agree on this. The are becoming a better team and playing well against bad teams but they won't contend yet. 75 wins is the ceiling.
  6. Left handed power hitter. He's shown he can do it. Until Collins comes up they really don't have another that will possibly be with the team in the future besides Moncada.
  7. I think the reason they started him in A÷ was that they know how hard it is to hit in Birmingham. He didn't do well last year. So start him on a roll before he goes to AA and has trouble in a pitchers park.
  8. I'm not that optimistic. Kopech will be in his first year after UCL reconstruction so he will be learning again. He'll be adequate but not great. Cease will still be increasing innings so there will be a fatigue factor. The new prospects will be learning. I think they will be competitive next year but your predictions are more appropriate for the following year.
  9. I do. Not in the playoffs next year but the start of being a competitive team. The additions of kopech and cease alone will change the team. However, my point was that they think that is the beginning of the competitive run.
  10. They won't spend the money to get a good FA. They do extend some of their own. Hopefully they just extend his contract as he seems to be a capable closer.
  11. They will not be trading Colome at the deadline. They are planning to be competitive next year. They need to start keeping the good players.
  12. That is a really tough park to hit in.
  13. Anderson has the advantage of already having a long term contract. Today's MLB pays for power, which is mostly being a pull hitter which is why the league is pull happy. He doesn't need to worry about that.
  14. The problem is they can't always learn it in the minors. MLB hitters layoff pitches that minor leaguers will swing at. Until they get to the MLB it's hard to tell sometimes. Fulmer is going through the same thing. His pitches move so much that the minors swing at it but the MLB doesn't. They need to make the adjustment.
  15. The organizational structure should be constructed that you can't put the blame on one person. Because no single person should have all the control. People should work together to benefit the team. Everyone has strength and weaknesses and they should complement one another. It shouldn't be designed so the fans can blame a single person.
  16. No you didn't. Read it again. That may not be what you meant but that's what you wrote.
  17. No doubt. It's still all about the progress of the prospects and building a winning team for next year and beyond. This year was rendered moot for winning when Kopech went down.
  18. That's not what you said you said you had and a feeling KW makes most of the decisions and that's why they are bad. That's a long way from saying you blame them both.
  19. And you are positive that the bad deals are his and not Hahns.
  20. He really isn't and neither is Ben Roethlisberger. But they can play.
  21. Welcome to Soxtalk! You must be new here.
  22. No doubt. You need to use the website not the app. It's a pain.
  23. On teams that don't have a near luxury tax budget, this is a good plan.
  24. I still fault the awful upright follow through that I've commented on since they drafted him.
