  1. This is why I keep going back to JRs ego. They knew what the agent wanted but were still trying to get the player without meeting the agents demands. It was a losing plan from the beginning. However they convinced themselves it was going to work because no other team was really in it until SD came along. They over played their hand because of JRs restrcitions.
  2. No doubt . They tried to get creative so that JR wouldnt have to pay the highest contract ever. It was working too until SD came in. They screwed to up big time all because of JRs ego.
  3. I would disagree that it happens to star players who the union would fight for. I dont think you could come up with an example where the Sox have suppressed one of their players salaries.
  4. Right the guaranteed contract that JR wouldnt approve, because of ego.
  5. Where is everyone getting the idea I believe in this organization. I've never once said they did the right thing here. I've said why they irrationally wouldnt do the deal while stating that Machado did the right thing because the JR screwed it up
  6. I'm not defending them. I said that it wasn't about the overall money. It's about JR not wanting to known as the owner who gave out the highest FA offer. At no point did I defend anyone except Hahn who I think had his hands tied by JR.
  7. No I don't. JR is unseasonably sticking to the ego trip of not signing the highest deal ever. It was flat our wrong to rob the team of this player. I think Hahn had his hands tied and did the best he could What the heck does Levine have to do with contract negotiations. He shouldn't be in the conversation.
  8. This has absolutely nothing to do with the conversation. Move along.
  9. They could not maneuver around the playing time easily. With the antagonist relationship the union and owners have, the union would be aall over that quickly. As I stated in another post, JR is referred to here as too loyal as a fault. If that's true, he wouldn't allow something like that to happen. As far as being a trainer, there are plenty of p,layers who can get 550 at bat at age 34 and 35 which would be the last years of the deal. He would be betting on himself a little but if he does it in just one of the years he would be right there. Again, I'm not saying I would take the Sox deal, I wouldn't. But the deal as not about the overall money. It was about an agent and an owner pissing about who can claim the highest free agent deal ever.
  10. This is wrong on so many levels. First, that would be an obvious grievance and would have the Sox pay a lot more money, Second isn't the complaint around here that JR is too loyal to a fault? He would not do that to an employee, he treats his employees very well. Again, I don't blame Machado for taking the guaranteed money, I would too. But this was all about who can claim the highest FA deal ever and who didn't want to known as the owner who did it.
  11. After thinking about it overnight and listening to people rant and rave about this, I've come to the conclusion that this really had nothing to do with money. The White Sox really offered more money with easily attainable incentives. It had everything to do with the agent wanted the "highest free agent deal ever" eventhough it's a technically because Stanton signed a 325 mil extension, and JR not wanting to be the owner who gave out the "highest free agent deal in history."
  12. Again. It's impossible to break that bone punching a wall. In both of these cases unless he punched it with his palm.
  13. I don't think Jazz is the primary music in Nashville.
  14. Deal. Depending on what the new governor says about pension reform, I may be there sooner than I think.
  15. There's a good chance I'll be joining you down there when I retire.
  16. Congratulations on the move to Nashville! Awesome town. Much better than Illinois in so many ways.
  17. An article in the Tribune said he was going to be out 12 weeks. That is a really long time for this. If true that's really conservative.
  18. Nope. Just swinging a bat. It's impossible to fracture the hook punching a wall, unless you punch with your palm. You fracture a metacarpal when you punch a wall.
  19. He did. He had the hook removed as well.
  20. If he has bad knees, a guaranteed 10 year deal isn't smart.
  21. Quentin did it while hitting his bat after he struck out, not during a swing. I think it was the scaphoid not the hamate as well.
  22. I've said this multiple times. Hahn had to get creative because JR wouldn't approve a guaranteed 300 million dollar contract. I'm not sure what else he could do.
  23. It the hook of the hamate that is actually removed. Many players have this injury. It does happen when you swing the bat. Its usually on the follow through when the knob gets jammed up into the hand on an awkward swing. The hook of the hamate projects out from the palm near the wrist. The knob of the bat hits it and breaks it off.
